Have the Jets ever felt like a real rival?
SF Bills Fan replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Jets had one good year and won the Super Bowl riding the charisma of Namath. It happened in the early days of the modern NFL and legitimized the AFL so it’s a big deal. Other than that, they’ve been a mediocre disappointment for their fans. The Bills have had some great years but have also been mostly mediocre. Rarely outright terrible. So, for most of the history with the Jets it has been a clash of unremarkable and mediocre teams. Forgettable games for the most part. Only the bettors cared. The early 80’s had some good games when we had Knox annd Fergie and we arrived as a force when we beat them to go to the playoffs in the late 80’s. They had a few good teams in the late 90s and beat us in some big games when Flutie was QB. I think they even went to the AFC Championship against Denver. But, the rivalry with the Pats and Dolphins seems much bigger because they’ve been very successful at times so we thought it was a huge deal when we played them. For 17 years we’d get super excited for the Pats games and the Pats thought we were as scary as navel lint. Now the worm has turned. Funny thing is, the Jets might now be decent and the only team that’ll give us some trouble this year. They’ve always gotten good players and put together good rosters and had hired good coaches but it never works. They’ve never built a sustainable winning culture like the Steelers, Niners, Pats and now us. Having lived through the 70s I’ll always think of Miami as the main rival. I’m still wired to hate them. These are great times and enjoy it because I think we’ll continue to pound them and the others to dust for many years to come. -
Did Harbaugh Call Timeout Too Quickly?
SF Bills Fan replied to Last Guy on the Bench's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is an interesting point. I’m glad it went the way it did otherwise I think we’d have had to spike it which would stop the clock. Then, after the kick there would have been time, though short, for the Ravens. With the kickoff rules it would have been scary. It seems like getting to 50 is more attainable. 1 pass and they are kicking a 60 yarder. -
Week 2, Bills v. Jest, PREDICT THE SCORE!

35-17 Bills -
The Gate has my favorite wings downtown.

If Lamar had punched him, I would not be upset. The fan was way out of line

I watched the kick several times after and I noticed that. It was really close. That guy was right there. Almost spoiled the party.

Week 1, Nevermores v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!
SF Bills Fan replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
For a while I’ve been thinking we’d lose because Baltimore is very good and revenge factor. But I think we will win. Ravens are usually slow to start the season It’s in Buffalo and the last home opener in the Ralph (Rich!) history- huge advantage. People are probably steady partying there. Jackson will make plays but turn it over at key times. Josh won’t make mistakes. Bossa will be big for us. He will want to prove his worth. The Ravens on paper are better but something about them is always off. They also lost their kicker who was great. The NFL decides when they want a team to win. Don’t be surprised when some funny calls go our wsy at key times. There will be lots of shots of Josh”s movie star wife. He is America’s golden boy right now. It’s going our way. I’ll go 24-21. -
Every season the Chiefs have losses like this and everyone starts writing their epitaph. Then they persevere. Never count them out. We could get crushed in our house Sunday night and we’ll bounce back like the Chiefs will. That said- I don’t think they’ll benefit from the calls anymore so there is that. The free ride is over. They’ll have to win without that edge.

Send over some wings laced with Ambien. "The Ravens all appear to be napping!"

I went to OP Highschool with his daughter and knew her well as she was in my circle of friends. There were three daughters and all of them were smart and athletic. I met Dan a few times- nice guy.

Sabalenka is a beast. But if you want to look at it from a curse perspective, Sabalenka didn't have to play in the round before the match yesterday with Jess Pegula because her opponent forfeited. So Sabalenka was more rested. It is always something for anything that has a relation to Buffalo. I would not be surprised if some whacky thing happens before Sunday night. Like a team food poisoning epidemic.

We had a few in my neighborhood growing up. Wray Carlton of the great 60's Bills teams was one of them. He may still be there in Eagle Heights in OP for all I know.

One Thing No One Is Talking About Regarding Last Night's Game
SF Bills Fan replied to MPL's topic in The Stadium Wall
I watched the game yesterday with as much enthusiasm as I would have for professional bowling. I use the term watched loosely. The outcome tells me nothing about how things will go starting in 3 weeks. -
2nd Window for Superbowl Taking Shape
SF Bills Fan replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it’s one continuous window that will be open for another decade. We were just not lucky that the Chiefs happen to be good and have all the blessings. They won’t stay on top forever. If our D improves we will get our shot. I bet we win 2 Super Bowls over the next 5 years. We’ve been 1 bad call or bad bounce away from going to the Super Bowl. We’ll get our chance. -

I see no moat, so I gotta pass. -
Definitely reinforces Josh as MVP choice. Tom Brady rarely had great receivers. Mahommes does great with decent, but not great WR room. Good QBs make the WRs around them good. I think the philosophy that "everyone eats" with the Bills is the way to go.

I met him at the same tournament when it was year two with the Bills. I saw him in the casino and on the course. I had a hunch as to where he would be and timed it right and ran right into him. When he got done playing he made a bee line right over to me since I was wearing a Bills hat. At the time he was far from the MVP of today and while recognized, he was not swarmed. He was the nicest guy and took time to chat. you could tell he was different than most celebs and players. I remember joking and asking if he had 30 TDs in his arm for the coming year and he said "No- I got 35" and I could tell he meant it. Anyway, that next year I think he had 37. He really is a great person. If you have young kids and they want to meet Josh Allen, that is the place to do it. You are mere feet away from tons of celebs throughout the day. Some are more much more fun and interactive and approachable with the fan than others. Some approach you. Sean Payton saw me drinking a beer and walked up and asked if I had another for him, which of course I did. I talked with Al Michaels while he paused on the course while the group ahead finished. It's that kind of atmosphere.

Bills/Ravens/Eagles Super Bowl Favorites

This means it'll end up being someone like the Bengals, Rams or Lions. -
What do you think Ralph Wilson would think of these Bills?
SF Bills Fan replied to Billsfed1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ha! Sadly, this might not be inaccurate.
