You had one in Mckenzie and he was barely used in the playoffs. Problem is the OC, not the players available. How could anyone watch that game yesterday and think these offensive play calls are even on the same planet.
-
Would Det really go with an OC that never called plays and a HC that doesn't have play calling experience? It can't be that hard to find an OC with experience. Bring someone from College.
-
It's also the biggest game of the season coming up and you can't take a chance Gabe may not be playing at 100%, if you have Stills at 100%. Gabe was significantly hampered on Sat, constantly limping. When you have a guy like Stills waiting, you have to be smart.
-
Prefect excuse to put Stills in and create a huge mismatch with speed in KC.

McKenzie was the scout team QB before Balt so there is no injury there. This offense is best when McKenzie is heavily utilized. Daboll has gone vanilla on offense in the playoffs, relying on Allen to make something out of nothing. It is has been a disappointment to say the least. I felt like throughout the season we had the most TDs that didn't involve the QB throwing, and now we have gone extremely boring in the playoffs. Daboll refuses to run the ball with the wind last week and Singletary's success last year vs Balt, could have very well cost him an HC job, I would agree with any team that passes over on him. He leaves a lot to be desired.

Report: Daboll will remain with Bills in 2021
Back2Buff replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully he learns how to scheme run plays in the offseason. Hate to break it to people, but its not the players that are the issue in the run game, its the boring schemes. Can't remember the last time I seen a lineman pull, and that is the easiest way to create a mismatch in the run game. Richie's pancake specialty while with Roman/Lynn. Would love to bring in Lynn as a run game specialist, but I'm sure he will have better offers. Lots of times the O line coach will work on scheming run plays, but unfortunately our O line coach looks like his background is in passing too. -
Wyatt Teller 1 of the Best OG in NFL .

That's based on PFF grades, which we all know the accuracy of those. Decent player, but Cleve's line stinks in pass protecting, including Teller. -
Chargers to Hire Brandon Staley as HC (not Daboll)
Back2Buff replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is an argument to be made that it's better to be a coordinator on a great team, than a HC on a crap team. I hear Daboll's more in the national media than I do Zac Taylor's name. Daboll will get a huge raise this year and is in charge of the entire offense. Turning down a HC job isn't that big of a deal, if you are going to end up fired in 2 years anyways. -
Daboll & Allen vs. the Ravens

Yeap. Easier to give a 45 year old credit who never had a top 20 offense, than a 24 year 7th overall pick. Narrative. -

As much as this is a "what have you done for me lately" league, your past history just doesn't go away. That is why guys like Staley, LaFleur, Taylor, McVay, Campbell, Kingbury, Rhule, Stefanski, Meyer, Judge, Vrabel, and Smith all are getting hired versus guys with long resumes of ups and downs. These guys have very little coordinator/NFL experience. The more you put on tape, the more you show your flaws. -
Why is Allen's improvement linked to Daboll?
Back2Buff replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good coordinators make any RB look like #1 RBs. How many guys did San Fran insert in this year? -
The way McDermott was talking about Yeldon the other day, I feel like Williams may get a legit shot. I don't understand why McDermott was being so forthright with saying Yeldon will be taking Moss's position. Why tell Balt that? Yeldon and Williams are two different types of player, why tell them who to dress and what to do on D. McDermott never gives out info, why did he there?

Why is Allen's improvement linked to Daboll?
Back2Buff replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I watch KC, I see things that I have never seen before in my life. So yes, I do think offenses create new plays. There is nothing wrong with using other teams plays, just taking credit for being innovate because you stole something is where the issue lies. -
Why is Allen's improvement linked to Daboll?
Back2Buff replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From watching Tom vs Time, a lot of the mental understanding of defenses is actually done in offseason programs. Allen's biggest jump doing that was when offseason programs were limited from COVID. When OCs draw up new innovate plays, especially running plays, I value that a lot more than when OCs run other teams plays when they have a QB that is able to operate those plays better than 95% of other NFL QBs. I think Daboll has severely lacked any creativity in blocking, running, and situational football. All things I would value over his, so called, "genius improvement" of Allen. -

Auto-correct in phone. Sorry about that, I will edit. -
I'm confused why Daboll gets so much credit for Joshua Allen's success. Allen has always been an athletic marvel, his biggest issue has always been mechanical inconsistency. The OC does very little work on a QBs mechanics, that is left up to the QB coach, and in Josh's case, Palmer in the offseason. To me, it is no coincidence that in the offseason which had tighter rules on working with Bills coaches, Allen took the biggest leap. Palmer is incredible and Daboll is profiting off of it. Not to mention Allen's attitude has been nothing short of tremendous. The kid put in work mentally in the offseason, you see it every drive. He reads the defense so well now, and from watching Tom vs Time, that is something that is perfected in the offseason. Daboll is pretty good at taking plays from other teams and running them here. He is very good at listening to his players. However, I think his game management is suspect and I feel like every time I hear about a great play, it's Allen reading the D and audibling into the play. I don't know maybe I'm wrong, but it just kind of irks me when Daboll is viewed as some genius developer of Allen.

I have more faith in a rookie making less errors than Yeldon or Singletary.

Roberts inactive this week is my prediction...

His roster decisions have always played more to the vet, than taking risks with a more skilled player. I'll ask you this, Yeldon or Williams this week? What will McDermott do? -
Rewatching the game: Our Coaches deserve more credit
Back2Buff replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3:53 left in game, Buf on Indy 34 yard line, Singletary just had nice run, Indy 1 TO left, Bass already made 54 yarder. Daboll goes 4 WR and 1 RB. No extra protection. This is inexcusable and has happened way too much this year. Terrible game management, something we have seen a lot with Daboll this year. -

We should, but McDermott won't. He's too conservative to take risks for wins. -
I suspect this line will move tremendously. Easy money taking Balt moneyline and points right now. Bills can't stop this run attack from Balt.
-
The way rookie WRs come into the league, I find it difficult to pay number 2 WR 9 million dollars. You can find number 2 WR in the draft pretty easily in 2021.
-
The Allen run to left is a classic play the QB is supposed to read the D at the line and audible if necessary. Allen should have counted the men in box and what side of field they were on. If you look at the other side of field, they are setting up for a WR screen because that is the 3rd option on play. When counting the men, Allen would have quickly released he could have got the first on just throwing it out to the WR quickly. This is classic madden type stuff. Daboll did not have his best game, but running too much was not the issues. Allen needed to read the field better.
