  1. The premise of this thread is flawed. Teams aren’t giving up more than they ever have. SF is using the 3rd overall pick on a QB, and they gave up fair value to acquire that pick. Top QB prospects have historically been taken at the top of the draft, and draft value charts haven’t really fluctuated much. If the 3rd overall pick was a $20 bill, SF traded them a $10, a $5, and 5 ones. The OP should really be broken into 2 separate questions. 1. Is the third overall pick too much for a QB? (No) 2. Is what the 49ers gave up to get that pick too much? (Maybe, but it’s more or less in line with the draft value chart).
  2. They’re almost certainly taking Sewell if he’s there.
  3. Whoever it is, he needs to be able to run. This is the slowest team in terms of skill position players I can ever remember.
  4. Just last season he hurt his foot in the opener and missed 3 games. Later in the season he had a concussion. Then he finished the season on IR with injuries to his hip and knee. He’s a little guy, and he’s taken a beating.
  5. How long do you want to tie yourself to a guy who is over 30 and coming off an injury, though?
  6. I’ll venture somewhere around 6 years and $270,000,000 with $150,000,000 guaranteed. Dak just got $40,000,000 AAV. No chance Allen takes 75% of that. Nearly no chance he takes only 100% of that.
  7. How old is that in reptilian solar being years?
  8. Not a problem, I just find it amusing that you think Josh is going to leave $100,000,000 on the table whereas Mahomes’s incredibly team friendly deal is going to be some sort of albatross.
  9. You’re the same guy who just said this about Josh... I’m not sure you understand how this all works.
  10. The salary cap is about to explode given the new TV deal, gambling revenue, and fans returning. I could see 6 years for $270,000,000.
  11. Great signing.
  12. It’s not just a third round pick, though. It’s a third round pick AND $8,250,000. For that level of assets, I think I could get something better than a 31 year old TE coming off a terrible season who will be a FA in a year.
  13. If the need is getting Josh killed because his RB can’t pick up a blitz to save his life, Lindsay is your guy. He was pretty good runner, but he doesn’t do much in terms of receiving and is a huge liability blocking. He’s also broken.
  14. 75% chance he wants to return. 50% chance we cut him if he does. Up to $5M. It’s going to be heavily incentive laden. If he can’t play, it’s going to look a lot like the veteran minimum.
  15. Allen needs a new contract in the near future. His cap hit will be minimal for a few more years.
  16. Sure, but Roaf didn’t have to beat cancer. There’s a very real chance he wants to secure as much guaranteed money as possible. Not all 4/$160M deals are created equal. Meanwhile, they just lost Mitchell Schwartz who is likely to be retiring at age 31.
  17. 100% true. What would you be willing to offer in terms of a contract and picks? He’s a prime candidate to be cut, IMO.
  18. For a guy his age and with his health history, the devil will be in the details. Very likely he’s willing to give up AAV for more guaranteed $$$$.
  19. I don’t think he’s trash by any means, but I sure as hell wouldn’t give up picks for the privilege of paying him $8.5 million. It’s entirely possible that he has a bounce back season, but counting on guys over 30 to do that is a big gamble. That said, Josh with a weapon at TE would be dangerous.
  20. 31 and coming off the best season in history for a TE. If Ertz was coming off a career year, his age wouldn’t be a concern. Tom Brady is 43, so you thinking Tyrod’s going to hit his prime in 5 years?
  21. That’s a really solid season, but he’s nowhere near that fast anymore.
  22. 72 targets, 36 catches, 1 TD, 5 drops, and 4.7 yards per target. There are “down years” and there are “worst pass catcher in the league” years. He’s over 30 and is the 7th highest paid TE. You want to give up a draft pick for the right to pay him?
  23. A broken player owed $8.5M? They should be sending Beane the 4th rounder to take him.
  24. They’re getting killed, and he looks bad for sure.
