  1. It’s one of those plays where even if you could technically rule that to be an INT, common sense says it’s a TD.
  2. Absolute clown show of a game, but damn if it wasn’t entertaining.
  3. I totally agree with all of this, but it’s pretty disingenuous to say that a team that’s put up 64 points on offense in two games against a below average defense and an elite defense is definitively worse on offense than it was last year. I think ultimately that this year will prove to be a small step back, but there’s nothing to suggest it so far. Week 1’s offense was as good as any game last season, and there were several games last year that were way worse than what we saw yesterday. I think a lot of people here are underselling just how good that Chargers team is. They’re a top 5 team in terms of Super Bowl odds for a reason, and Kansas City found a way to play at a mediocre level and still find a way to a double digit lead with less than a minute left. That was a hard fought win on three days rest against a big, physical team. It reminded me of the game against San Francisco in the Super Bowl with the monsters both had on the defensive lines.
  4. Yep. I was there watching all 24 carries for 75 yards of it in person.
  5. I’m pretty sure he was hurt before that play, but that one made it worse.
  6. 3 yards per carry, 0 TDs, and the longest gain was 8 yards. VERY effective.
  7. Yeah, I was there. I watched the Chiefs, on three days rest, play a C- game against the best defensive line in football and win versus the team with the fourth best Super Bowl odds. I suppose that Kansas City has set such a high standard for itself that they’re supposed to apologize for a monster win. I’m not buying it, though. In the closest thing you’re going to get to a rebuilding year, and with 7 rookies getting significant playing time, they look as good as any team in football.
  8. 24 rushes for 75 yards allowed, and your takeaway is that they can’t stop the run?
  9. 71 points in two games proves that the Chiefs offense has taken a hit?
  10. That was a decent watch.
  11. Crazy odds that the guy he’s talking ish about just happens to be the same guy who benched him for being washed up and playing like he’s paid by the fumble.
  12. That same coaching made the calls that led the team to go 4/4 with 2 TDs on 4th down. Without that, the game would have been a blowout. Coaches put them in position to win.
  13. I’m not sure how you could trade any of them. Oliver would bring probably a high third or maybe even a second rounder, but that would leave a gaping hole at DT in the middle of a championship push, so I don’t think McBeane would move him for anything short of someone offering up a first rounder. Zero chance that would be offered, and even then I think he’s so important to the team’s immediate plans that I don’t think it would be accepted. Epenesa wouldn’t draw much more than a bag of footballs, and offering Basham would kill his value. If you only dress a guy for 8 games and then shop him, you don’t have much leverage. Both of these guys are going to contribute, IMO.
  14. Who has the longer leash of the two? AJ has been in the league longer, but Boogie is a year older.
  15. You can't possibly know that, though. Some GMs like to gamble that their top rated player will still be available a round later because the Mel Kipers of the world mocked it that way. Clearly Bill isn't that guy. He knew who he wanted, and he grabbed him. I can almost guarantee that there were players taken ahead of him who will have worse careers than Strange. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they put him at Center and he ends up being better than Linderbaum.
  16. I get that Whaley didn’t have a ton of success in Buffalo, but he set up Beane for success on his way out. Between drafting Tre and acquiring the extra first round pick which gave Beane enough draft capital to trade up the following year, he deserves some credit. If Whaley had drafted Lattimore at 10, there’s a very good chance that Allen isn’t a Bill and Beane is job hunting right now. That may have been the biggest win-win trade in NFL history.
  17. I think he’s going to be a very good player for a long time. I just don’t see it with Epenesa nor Basham, and I really liked both coming out of the draft.
  18. Probably not many when said defender has a 39” vertical. Those that did likely went over the receiver as well.
  19. Do you feel like they’ve lived up to their draft slots so far?
  20. I’m curious how many people burying RT over this would be cool with it if their employer brought in some new employee and said “we’re paying this guy a fraction of what you make, and we need you to train him so that we can fire you and give him your job”.
  21. That Smith contract was a disaster the day he signed it. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he’s cut after this season and it becomes a two year $26,000,000 contract. Beane is way too smart to do something like that. I fully expect a defensive purge next offseason with an emphasis on getting younger and cheaper.
  22. Give the kid a break. When the season starts he’ll only be…(checks notes)…24 years old.
  23. There are a multitude of reasons. He’s an emotional guy on and off the field. When that’s channeled the right way, it’s great. When it isn’t, things can go very bad. Unfortunately, he became a cancer in the locker room and in the media last season likely due to the fact that the Chiefs weren’t interested in breaking the bank for an undersized Safety on the wrong side of 30. His play was already starting to decline, and once his heart wasn’t in it, he went from a fierce competitor to a guy more interested in making business decisions than in making tackles. His age and declining production made the Chiefs want to part with him. His attitude made it an easy sell with the fans. He was a great player his first two seasons in Kansas City, and we got more from him than we ever expected. Unfortunately, he was average at best in his contract year. Hopefully New Orleans provides the change of scenery he needs to rejuvenate his career. I suspect he’s just the kind of guy who teams will always love to see him come and provide some fire in the locker room and then love to see him go once he’s run his course. If the Saints get the 2019/2020 version, they’re getting a steal. If they get the 2021 version, then they’re the ones getting robbed.
