  1. This is why I can’t understand why people criticize McDermott more than Beane. That is an abomination of a performance by a GM, but it’s the coach’s fault they can’t beat the Chiefs.
  2. Every game thread, it’s “why does nobody cover Kelce, he’s always wide open”. Mahomes helps, but elite receivers get their numbers regardless. Metcalf is very good, but he’s nowhere near the hype just as Davis isn’t great, but he’s better than he gets credit for around here.
  3. History says they would be pretty similar. He was elite with Alex Smith.
  4. For their careers, Metcalf has a catch percentage of 60% with 8.6 yards per target. Davis is 55% with 9.1 yards per target. DK produces via volume of targets.
  5. Not sure why it’s so hard to figure out given that it’s been proven out for years, but number 1 WRs get their numbers regardless of who the QB is. Adams and Hill went from Rodgers and Mahomes to Carr and Tua and their numbers didn’t regress whatsoever. DK is better than Gabe, but they’re a lot closer than people here realize.
  6. 81 targets for 45 catches, 746 yards, 7 TDS, 56% catch rate and 9.2 yards per target 119 targets for 66 catches, 1114 yards, 8 TDS, 56% catch rate and 9.4 yards per target That’s Gabe and DK.
  7. There is zero chance they didn’t get his approval before making this trade. Josh is more important than anyone in the organization other than Pegula. Can you imagine the Chiefs trading Kelce without consulting Mahomes? That would never happen.
  8. I just told you that I was laughing at the notion that Diggs being traded “changes very little”. I see the Bills as a 9-10 win team next year. I don’t see them as a legit threat to win the Super Bowl, but it’s not an impossibility. They’re +1200 currently, so Vegas thinks they have about a 1 in 15 chance. They, Detroit, and Cincinnati are essentially tied for the 4th - 6th best odds. That seems about right to me. Overall, I think this was probably a good move for the Bills. I don’t think it makes sense in the larger context of what Beane has done the rest of the offseason, though. It doesn’t make sense to me that he would restructure a bunch of contracts in order to add salary this season and try to make a run only to trade Diggs and eat a bunch of dead money. IMO, if trading Diggs was a consideration then they should have ripped the bandaid off and moved on from Von as well. Beane reminds me of Chris Ballard in Indy. They’re the kings of half-measures. They’re so worried about being competitive that they’ll never do what it takes to win a Super Bowl. I watched Carl Peterson do the same think in Kansas City for decades.
  9. Floyd had 10.5 sacks, and Diggs and Davis combined for 150 catches, 2000 yards, and 15 TDs. If they weren’t big contributors, who was? I understand perfectly well that it doesn’t close a window. I said last offseason that they should trade him, but to pretend that he doesn’t make a big difference is divorced from reality.
  10. Beane has painted himself into a corner similar to what he did two years ago. Everyone knows he needs a WR just like everyone then knew he needed a CB. If he tries to move up into the top 10, it’s for Odunze. If he tries to move up into the top 15-20 range, it’s for Brian Thomas. The team on the other end of the phone knows this and would be immediately calling every GM in need of a WR trying to drive the price up. If I’m Pegula, I’d sooner fire Beane than let him mortgage the future for a #1 WR on this team. They’ve had a #1 WR for the past several seasons and couldn’t get it done. This team isn’t a rookie WR away from being championship level, and there’s no chance in hell I’m letting Beane try to save his job at the expense of the team’s future. If anything, I’m nailing Allen’s feet to the floor and then trading away everything that isn’t nailed down for future picks.
  11. In retrospect, sure. It was cryptic right up until the trade was announced. That’s sort of the definition of the term.
  12. I think the timeline is backwards here. Diggs was basically saying “you’re about to find out what Josh looks like without a number 1”.
  13. ACLs are ligaments in the knee. The Achilles is the tendon on the back of your leg located just above the back of your foot running towards the bottom of your calf.
  14. Pacheco is a really nice player, but he isn’t elite. As for Peterson and Charles, those were ACL injuries, not achilles.
  15. That’s a good point. I’m going to tell Veach to re-sign him.
  16. It’s even wilder than that. They drafted Archie Manning second overall in 1971. He’s the only QB they’ve ever drafted in the first three rounds to ever make an NFL roster. They drafted Garrett Grayson with the 75th pick in 2015 but he never made the team.
  17. Why would you want CEH? Nice guy, but ever since he got injured his rookie season he’s been JAG at best.
  18. So Josh Allen is worth 2 wins compared to Kyle Allen?
  19. You think the Dallas PD has nothing better to do than spend a bunch of time and money investigating a non-injury accident when the driver can afford a top attorney?
  20. Burrow’s just hurt too much. When he’s 100%, he might be better than Josh, but it doesn’t matter how good he is at 100% when he’s never 100%. He’s Manning with injury issues, IMO. There’s a feeling you get when your team plays against certain QBs, and it just feels different watching your team try to defend Josh. It’s like when I was a kid watching John Elway. You know that if the Bengals cut your heart out it’s because Burrow feathered perfectly defended passes into minuscule windows over and over. You know that if the Ravens do it it’s because Lamar did some brilliant display of athleticism. With Elway, it was worse because you never knew what it was going to look like. John was a bridesmaid many, many times before he finally won back to back and then rode off into the sunset, and now he’s on the list of the greatest ever. Josh will need to do the same if he wants to be put into that category. Fair or not, Marino is never more than a ‘devil’s advocate’ argument when it comes to the best ever.
  21. I’m not blaming Josh at all. He played a great game. I think the Chiefs had a better team around Mahomes than the Bills did around Allen. Josh has a gear that no other QB other than Mahomes will ever get to, though. He’s the one guy we play and know that it’s possible to defend him perfectly and still lose.
  22. Josh had a guy open short for a possible first down and a guy open deep for a possible TD. What more could a play caller possibly be asked to do?
  23. There’s a better chance of Josh making the HOF and Lamar missing it than vice versa. At this point, there’s simply no way to say that Allen isn’t a top 2 QB. Arguments can be made that in any given year he didn’t produce at a top 2 level, but that’s him against the field. Burrow may have had a better three years ago, and Hurts may have had a better season two years ago, and Lamar may have had a better season last year, but on the whole Josh is easily better than all of them. 20 years from now, nobody is going to rank Lamar above Josh on the all time list. I’m a huge Lamar fan, but any list that has Lamar on it is a pretty long list.
  24. Jalen Carter crashed a car and left the scene of a fatal car accident. He got probation and was drafted top 10 a year later. Rice was incredibly lucky that his stupidity didn’t have a worse ending. I’m not condoning his actions, nor does it make even the tiniest bit of difference what I think should happen to him. The reality is that it was a traffic accident that resulted in no major injuries. He’s got enough money to afford a competent attorney, so the odds of him seeing the inside of a jail cell are virtually nil. I realize he plays for the team that keeps winning Super Bowls so everyone here wants to pretend that the book will be thrown at him, but that’s little more than fan fiction.
