  1. This was THE "going outside the wire song" for the infantry. I was not one, but rode w them enough to have it etched deep in brain. Heart bpm up immediately! Dude, holy crap! You're killing me here. But, I guess if you're gonna go anyways, this might be a nice little path to the Great Beyond
  2. Admittedly, I'm only on p94 (further comments up-thread?), but pull the trigger @Mango !! Don't know you, but you sound like just the man to provide good juju for the boys.
  3. This is absolutely correct. Yes: I can say this 💯 true due to "insider" knowledge. Quick story: for 2 yrs, I was "public" as on-air expert for one of the Big 3 broadcast networks, NY hq. Won't say which cuz you'll look me up, then roast me for my makeup and live hits. Anyway, colleague and myself were the young(ish), just-been-on-the-ground, kind of analysts. The other major expert group was compromised of retired flag officers and an academic or two. Analogy: 1st group= today's youtubers, few analysts that care. 2nd group=typical nfl analyst, esp ex-players. We--the hungry ones--worked arses off w PAs, EPs, News Directors, anchor, etc. Not just for our personal on-air hits, but for any story on the subject, w/n unclassified boundaries, of course. Other group: ehhh, not so much. Stuff they pulled out their butts we couldn't believe! They felt their "access" to this or that senior official, or someone on JCS was all that was required. Needless to say, it was disgusting. But, the $ was ridiculous, and even that (very) small notoriety brought, well, pleasurable attention! ok, done w my rant.
  4. Agree, in this sense: owners have multi-billion $ franchises, and they're (frequently) handing the keys to unproven, 20-something COOs. Amazing.
  5. Social Distortion is freakin' awesome (in case anyone cares). Haven't listened for a minute... thanks for reminder.
  6. On the prospect of meeting (and of course beating) Brady: A looming, throbbing schadenboner.
  7. Thanks for posting @YoloinOhio. Shows Allen, no-kidding, had to work those fields, and so reader gets a tactile feel for his work ethic. Which leads me to...JA should change from pre-game Sinatra to the following:** Working in the fields, til you get your back burned. Working 'neath the wheels, til you get your facts learned. Baby I got my facts, learned real good right now! (fr "Badlands") *Flamers: I'm not a fan of lyric posting, to say the least...it's teen-ish, and I'm hitting 50! But, just this one time kids, dad gets to break his own rules. (Edit: pre-post, didn't see there was a whole thread on, basically, lyric posting!)
  8. Haha is for "reanimated Krauthammer". Funny but w a whisper of cruelty. Nice. And I actually liked the guy. C'mon man, no other likes. Isn't anyone getting this stuff?
  9. Cross-thread comments. Very clever; I no-kidding love it! It's, like, meta man.
  10. I agree w pretty much everything you say here. Good points all. But, just to be slightly contrarian, I'll go w Po on defense. Mainly so I can argue vacuously for the next five pages or so.
  11. I hope so! But, as I've said before, you gotta run these predictions by @Stank_Nasty.
  12. Agree, very good. Worth watching just for emotion he shows at the end.
  13. Well, if I remember my birthing class (13y ago), Brax-Hicks come way early. Sincerely, Senor Pedantic
  14. Ugh. I'm having Braxton Hicks contractions. And I'm a dude. Moreover, I'm not even pregnant.
  15. W/o looking up lyrics, Big Bad John? We used to sing it in 5th grade music class.
  16. Brief side note: reading w/o my glasses, and I thought you wrote "My mother and I were discussing game plan..." First thought: holy crap, we've just discovered the #1 Bills Fan Family. Sort of like when Carter "found" Tutankhamen tomb.
  17. This is genius. Seriously. Quit your day job, move to Hollywood, and become a casting director. ... wait a minute, maybe you are a casting director. Hmmm.
  18. Let's go JL Chamberlain! Onward men of the 20th! .... sorry, thought this was the civil war thread. This guy has been my #1 hero since HS freshman (waaay before the movie). Anyway, love threads like this @njodogg. Shows the depth and breadth of our fan base. Good luck to Maine posters; hope you're able to get together for the game!
  19. J'accuse RWC! (the trick is to get out in front of the accusation)
  20. I'll be Little Bo Peep if you want, as long as I get to try some of that shrimp "boil" you mentioned! Yes, I clicked to check out the recipe, cuz that's how Lil' Bo rolls.
  21. Jesus HC, you guys gotta stop w this stuff... you're making me freakin' hungry, as in right damn now! Rationale solution: I'm gonna come to your all your houses, hang, meet wonderful families, and eat great food and drink beer and watermelon whatevers. Almost certain board response: F you dukestreetking.
  22. Thanks for putting this up. I know this guy is hit or miss, and the bits need tighter editing, but some good chuckles in this one. I further realize it's the running schtick, but gotta give bonus points for playing multiple characters, Peter Sellers-like.
  23. Omg! You've seen the Big Board, Option Knox Plan (hope you're right, btw). But Buck Turgidson is gonna be freakin' pissed.
