The Ken Dorsey Over/Under HC Interviews Poll
FireChans replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tampa is a definitely. They will interview around but the rumor is that they are gonna toss the horrific HC (edit Todd Bowles, could not remember him for the life of me) and install their OC, like they did with Lovie and Dirk Koetter years ago. Also, blast from the past tangent, the Bucs QB coach is none other than Bills legend Thad Lewis. -

The Ken Dorsey Over/Under HC Interviews Poll

I actually almost made a "who would get hired first if both were fired tomorrow" topic but I thought the answer was so clearly one-sided it wouldn't have been interesting. -
"The Best NFL Offense that Can't Score Points" - Video Breakdown
FireChans replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
This basically comes back to what some folks have been screaming for years. Load up on offense. Cheat on defense if you have to (especially with a defensive HC who can turn day 3 picks into decent to good starters). Win games with an offense that outplays 30 other teams, and a defense that just needs to make a couple big plays. The overall strategy of the Bills roster construction has been a failure. They tried to plateau the offense and build up the defense. It should have been the opposite. -
So we know that the easiest way to get a head coaching position (besides being a waterboy for Mike Shanahan and paying your dues for 30 years) is to be an OC for a team with an established franchise QB. Doesn't matter if the HC is an offensive or defensive guy, if you put out a decent product with a QB who is great, even if they were great without you, you will get looks. We have seen this prove true over the years. Hackett, Gase, Nagy, McDaniels, Daboll, etc etc etc. So, in theory, if our offense is actually doing awesome because the EPA/play says so, and our offensive coordinator is actually doing awesome, the expectation would be that he would be a pretty hot head coaching candidate this offseason, right? The league would recognize it and say, "yeah that Josh Allen is a great player, but that coordinator of his is special too and they are doing special things together," and teams like the Panthers or the Bucs would be pretty interested in a guy like that, historically. Now, again in theory, if the rest of the NFL actually thinks, "hm, there's something wrong with that offense in Buffalo and we know Josh Allen is great so something else must be the problem," they would probably point to coaching. The League may dispute that while the EPA/play is elite, scoring points 10 points through 55 minutes is actually less so. In that instance, maybe Ken wouldn't be that popular as a candidate. Which would be quite damning, as we have seen a lot of hack coaches do pretty well with great QBs. So this is the official O/U topic of his interviews.

Allen is a roller coaster but so is every QB in the NFL. It’s a funny meme and there’s some truth that Allen can fluctuate from super high to not so high, but very few QB’s go through a season without some awesome performances and clunkers. Like none of them, unless they are having a historic season.

They have posted the numbers in the past. It pretty much sucks for everyone. When we are talking about the difference between a handful of games over an 8 year career, is kind of a nothing burger. Bills record this year down 8+ points in the fourth is probably 0fer, right?

Raiders fired HC Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler.
FireChans replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unfortunately for us, I believe it was the opposite. I think McDaniels and co. had lost the owner’s confidence prior to the deadline. Which meant he didn’t want THEM making the call on making a trade, or selling a Davante Adams etc. Davante will probably get moved eventually, but the old regime was not going to be the ones to do it. Which took him off the market. -
I didn’t say it was Beane’s fault lmao. Go defend his honor to someone else who cares
-
It’s the Jordan Phillips effect. Guy can make some splash plays, but is ultimately an undisciplined DLman who causes as many bad plays as he makes.
-
It’s not a strawman. You can’t hold two contrary opinions. Elam can’t be “not on the market” and also “available for the right price.” Lol

-
Whatever you say lmao. The only players on the market were the ones traded today I guess lol. A nice fishbowl worldview. I noticed you dodged the question on if Elam is a Bill today if Beane was offered a day 2 pick. Probably because you know the answer.
-
"We don't want folks trying to trade for him because he's so bad his value is basically zero" is pretty much implied from the bolded. Which is just not how NFL teams operate. Elam being inactive so many weeks ABSOLUTELY means he is on the market. You know who isn't on the market? Josh Allen. Dion Dawkins. Terell Bernard. Guys who play and have value to their team RIGHT NOW. Everyone else is on the market. If a GM calls Beane and says "hey we're interested in Elam, want to make a deal?," do you think Beane is saying "No thanks, he has tremendous value to us on the healthy scratch list every week, I don't even want to hear your offer." OF COURSE NOT. THAT'S INSANE. Every GM in the NFL knows the deal with Elam. He is not a roster untouchable. Some probably tried to buy so low that Beane decided it wasn't worth the cap hit to get a conditional 7th or whatever garbage was offered. However, that doesn't mean he wasn't on the market. If Brandon Beane was offered a day 2 pick for Elam today, do you think Elam is still a Bill? I don't. And if you think yes, then I would say Beane is wrong in that scenario.
-
Yeah sure, teams definitely say, “man this draft bust sucks so bad, I hope no one tries to trade for him,” lmao. If teams were poking around on Elam and offering conditional 7ths, yeah Beane probably said no. But Elam being inactive pretty much every week means he was on the market, and every other GM knew it.
-
No I know they can't. But it's why it's so funny that fans are like "they said this was their best player on their board left!"

Jets sign Saffold - Will be on active roster

He actually sucked last year. Tell me you don’t watch the games without telling me you don’t watch the games. -
Just once, I’d love to see a GM be like “yeah, we missed out on one of our targets so we took this dude because we needed a CB.”
-
This is correct. Elam was 100% available for anything of value. A conditional 7th if he makes it through camp next year is completely worthless at this point. And so here he remains.

Desperation to show improvement this season. Their FO and coaching staff are not safe if they are picking in the top 2 again.
