How clutch was Josh in 2023? No other QB even came close

How much did you donate?

The biggest irony of all. @transplantbillsfan/Cian Fahey were telling us for years how great TyGod was, and now it’s a negative to be a better version of Tuh.

NeverOutNick's First round QB rankings

Idk man, if Bo Nix ends up being a guy in the NFL, I’d have to give a lot of credit to him playing in college forever. He was horrific at Auburn. -
NeverOutNick's First round QB rankings

I said this before, but this draft is going to be a total referendum on developing QB’s. If these nine year starters like Daniels and Nix pan out after years of looking not NFL caliber, it’s going to make a lot coaches and execs think differently on how to get a QB. -
I think you have a fundamental different take on what coaches can do, and what kind of coaches exist in the NFL. Me personally, I rank coaches in terms of elite, good, bad. my elite coaches would be guys like Reid, Shanny, McVay. These are guys that raise a team’s ceiling (although Shanny’s penchant for choking may make me readjust). My good coaches are guys like Tomlin, McD, John Harbaugh. These guys are floor raisers. They are not necessarily going to outcoach or outscheme the class above them in every matchup, but they can and will take a team that should win 8 games and win 10. Or a team that should win 5 games and win 8. And then there are the bad coaches. The coaches that COST their team. Sirianni is the perfect example. Who knows what happened behind closed doors but a team that talented collapsing like that is a surefire sign of bad coaching. Now you may say, “Tomlin and Harbaugh have rings, they can’t be the same tier as McD.” But I don’t agree with that. Tomlin and Harbaugh have had enough talent between their last SB appearance and today to make ONE SB run. Neither have. They aren’t coaching differently from their original SB’s They aren’t scheme guys really anyway. So really, what are we talking about in regards to their ability to win? They have a coaching ability to win a Super Bowl one time with a perfect set of circumstances and a great team? That sounds suspiciously like “luck,” as opposed to some super secret championship DNA. And as long as McD is coaching the Bills, and we keep making the playoffs, we are gonna get the chance for luck to strike for us as well.

I have a question about JJ. Did it feel like to you, in the biggest moments (CFB playoff, OSU game) there was a hesitancy to let him throw? I didn’t watch every Michigan game this year, and I don’t pretend to be good enough to truly analyze and rank prospects. But when I watched Michigan, I got a weird feeling like JJ was more of a passenger on the offense than the other big name QB’s. -
He asked me to nitpick the list! You don’t get to say, “it’s just gonna be nit picking,” then ask me to nitpick, then say “Ha, like I said, it’s nit picking!”

A sneaky move for NE in the draft is take MHJ 3 and take whoever is left of Nix, Daniels, Penix at 35, or even move back into the late first a la Ravens with LJ. Maye over Caleb is quite a take and I respect it. I hate Nix though. Has bust written all over him, imo. Reminds me a lot of Jake Locker. Maybe I’m biased from the early years of his 19 year college career but I see nothing special out of him. He’s not going to be a spectacular athlete at the next level and his arm talent is nothing special. -
Extremely sad

Rodgers didn’t have to face either Brady or Mahomes that playoff run. Rodgers actually never had a playoff run where he wasn’t the CLEAR AND AWAY best QB in his conference. and he won one SB. Thats coaching malpractice lol. That’s very cool that Sean Payton won a Super Bowl when Obama was elected. Unfortunately, it was a long time ago. It’s great that those coaches have won Superbowls with different teams and for some, decades ago. Nothing they have done since has helped their resumes, only harmed them and shown that they are nothing special. They should’ve retired like Cowher so some loser franchise like the Bears could pretend they could bring them back and save them.

See there it is. Why can’t McD hold a lead against the GOAT QB and coach while Josh throws an absolutely TRASH pick to give them life? Hard to win in the fans’ minds when you remember the Chiefs game as “McD tried to lose the game” forgetting that Josh could barely complete a pass after a pick across his body up double digits lmao.

Easy peasy. LaFleur failed an actual generational talent in Rodgers. Mortified in the postseason 3 years in a row with the 2x or 3x MVP at QB, losing to Jimmy G twice. He also kicked a field goal down 8 instead of going for it in the playoffs in the redzone. Math is hard. Tomlin is a joke. His claim to fame is not being a loser and not being a winner either and winning a Super Bowl when Josh Allen was in middle school. ditto on Ravens Harbaugh, except his team also has gotten mortified in the postseason with 2x MVP Lamar. Is 2-4 in the playoffs good? Stefanski? Bowles? Shouldn’t even dignify those with a response. If you think McD struggles with clock management and when to be aggressive, Todd Bowles is McD with agoraphobia. Payton missed the playoffs three years in a row with an actual generational HoF QB. Talk about wasting talent, that’s much better than losing to the GOAT in the conference in the playoffs. Lmao. He also got 70 pieced this year. Dougie P was a one hit wonder, he’s a competent coach but his team was in the running for the 2 seed with a generational QB and tons of weapons and lost 5/6 including a meaningless game to the Titans to MISS THE POSTSEASON. Coach of the year stuff, I tell ya. Nick Sirianni is going to be fired probably around week 8, and they have made him fire his entire staff because of how bad the Eagles melted down. 10-1 to a first round inglorious exit to the Bucs and the aforementioned horrific Todd Bowles? With a team that talented? Yikes. For McDaniel, you can basically copy paste the Dougie P section, except he’s done it twice. I get it, he’s a good offensive mind, but I think he’s won 2 games after November in 2 seasons? Fumbled the division to the Bills twice? 0-2 in the postseason? Is that the stuff of elite coaching? Yeah, your meter is off.

Brady Effect: QBs playing into their 40's the new norm?
FireChans replied to TheFunPolice's topic in The Stadium Wall
These kids are different man. I think that’s part of the reason these old school coaches are less and less popular. -
You’re trying too hard to Papa Doc this discussion. The bottom line is the biggest problem for Buffalo, Allen and McD is that they are in the same conference as Mahomes and Reid. If they were an NFC team, they would’ve been in a Super Bowl by now. The floor you are describing of McD that other coaches “could” accomplish says more about the level of competition we face almost every year.

Bills spent the second most in the nfl on defense
FireChans replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I remember it embarrassing the record setting Broncos in the Super Bowl. I also remember it effectively shutting KC down in the first half until Greenlaw got hurt. my take is just like every other great defensive scheme, it only works if you have the horses. If you have 4 stars, it’s an elite defense. And even still, with offensive holding disappearing in the playoffs, it’s probably not enough to shut down the elite QB’s for long. -
Diggs gutted out the ProBowl with his mystery injury.

You’d hope the one involved in a teammates death would have grown up.
