  1. The Ravens are far more disappointing in the playoffs, not sure where you got your “most disappointing” stat. Aside from winning a championship, they are a failure because they didn’t win championships? it’s time to start defining words here.
  2. We are the Joe Flacco Ravens who keep running into Brady. Its not some massive failure.
  3. He got votes! He probably wins without another MVP candidate on the team. Obviously not, because he didn’t win…
  4. He had almost a thousand yards less, which for Tygod meant about 6 games worth.
  5. If you aren’t going to hate watch and root against Mahomes, I question your dedication to the cause.
  6. Like I said earlier, great offense + 1 seed is pretty much the formula for MVP. Has been for about 15 years. Other folks qualify and get votes. They did this year. They just didn’t win.
  7. You think the best player on the best team doesn’t have a case for being the most valuable player in the league just by virtue of being the best player on the best team? The narratives play a part in the MVP race. This year, strangely, there was a gauntlet where all the MVP candidates played each other. The 9ers killed the Eagles, which ended Jalen Hurts. The Ravens destroyed the 9ers and the Dolphins. The Cowboys lost to the Bills and Dolphins. So it ultimately left the Ravens the last one standing. Imo, Josh had a case for top 3 MVP and probably would’ve won if he had put up some really good numbers during our winning streak. I even bet on it. Unfortunately, he maintained his turnover per game pace and turned some cruise control games into dog fights, and imo, didn’t deserve it.
  8. “The most valuable player shouldn’t be the best and most important player on the team that wins the most!” - you, I guess?
  9. No.
  10. James Cook had 6 rushes for 20+ yards this season. He had 7 catches for 20+ yards. And I think two total 40+ gains. when you got a guy who is breaking a big play on an almost per game basis, that’s pretty great as a threat.
  11. The MVP is a regular season award. I tried to believe in Lamar and that this year was different, but in my mind, he is Dak East and I won’t trust him in the playoffs until he wins it all, and maybe not even then.
  12. Narratives also matter for MVP. Lamar and the Ravens smacked a couple great teams in a row and ended some MVP candidacy. I personally believe Allen would have had a decent chance to win if he put up some insane stat lines during our win streak. Unfortunately, there was no 300 yard 4 TD performance, and the Ravens never faltered.
  13. Bingo. I'd feel much worse if Josh had played like Lamar did against the Chiefs but won an MVP. You can change it to pretty good. It doesn't really matter.
  14. That Titans team didn't have a good offense. Read the formula one more time.
  15. In a league where 35 QB's threw at least 200 passes or more, 8 is not "close to average." That's a mathematical fact. QBR and passer rating are not the same thing.
  16. And have a great offense. I posted the recipe earlier for you.
  17. He was 8th in total TD's while being tied for 26th in total INT's. There's 3.
  18. Jared Goff's stats in 2022 were pretty good. Your point was that he didn't receive MVP votes, and he shouldn't have. Because his team won 9 games and missed the playoffs.
  19. I don't think that's a 1-1 comparison. Missing a whole game, which is anywhere from 60-70 snaps, is not the same as missing 8-10 snaps in 3 or even 4 games as an aggregate.
  20. I think that team missed the playoffs. They weren't the one seed. And Lamar didn't win the MVP in 2022. He won it in 23. Do I admit that Lamar Jackson's stats were not the Star Wars numbers variety we typically see with MVP's? Sure. But since 2009, only 3 MVP's were not the one seed in the conference. AP on the Vikings. Matt Ryan on the Falcons. And Peyton Manning on the Colts. It's the way the award typically goes. You can rail about it all you want.
  21. Only 4 QB's who played 15 games or more had a passer rating over 100. There's nothing average about that.
  22. Meh, the more games they had to rely on Lamar, his counting stats probably go up.
  23. I think Lamar had a pretty great year. He had a passer rating over 100, 29 TD's to 7 INT's when he was sitting or barely playing in blowouts. He was 15th in passing yards (again while sitting in blowouts and missing week 17. He was 22nd in rushing yards. And his team was the one seed.
  24. They were the one seed.
  25. The way to win the MVP: Be the one seed Have great stats Have a great offense That's it.
