Intrigue Builds Over Eagles' 2023 Late Season Collapse

Roy Hibbert never survived that kind of feud. -
When was the last time a tag and trade was executed? I honestly can’t remember.

If the Bungles don’t get a long term deal done, I don’t think they are out of the first round market at all. Smart teams would draft a WR before it becomes a big need.

They targeted Josh and developed him. -

Losing first rounders isn’t the end of the world. The Bills have had their first round picks for the most of the last 50 years and we still don’t have a ring. So what difference would it make, besides having 3 and the best QB in football and an all time dynasty in football lore? You won’t answer because you know the answer lol. -

The teams that drafted 1-9 missed on Mahome, but didn’t give their pick to Andy Reid to draft him. I promise, Bears fans still lament taking Trubisky that draft instead of Mahomes lol. -

There’s a separate article posted 1/17/2024 about Mahomes/Allen unless there’s another article. -

We gave Reid Mahomes. If the Chiefs traded in front of the Bills and drafted Mahomes, this would all be moot. -

I didn’t read it because I don’t support Ty Dunne’s hackfest attempts at tearing down the Bills because he was slighted by them for not being a real journalist and being buddies with two other dudes McD sent packing. I honestly respect their game of being professional haters, but anything they say should be taken with a boulder of salt. Like writing an article about how they were on board with drafting Mahomes over Allen 7 years after the fact. They write that article prior to 2018, or hell in 2020 or 2021, I get it. To write it NOW, when the gap has been the farthest since 2018? Trash, imo. -

Axe to grind Jimmy writing articles with Ty Dunne in 2024 about how they were the ones that were on board with drafting Mahomes 7 years prior before they both got shown the door. lmao. -
They are experiencing their own step back with worse coaching and a worse QB. Their shot was this year and they of course choked it away in December and January because that’s what the Dolphins do. don’t hold your breath.

I’m my understanding is that you can work in extensions that basically work as a restructure in regards to cap hit, adding on extra years that allow you to bring down the cap hit short-term. If those extensions don’t come at the end of the contract, say there’s two years left, the original terms are ripped up and the new terms are set. The reason you wouldn’t do this is if the player is not going to be here long term or is a retirement risk. Diggs is a good example. The original terms of his contract went through 2024. We extended him two years early, effectively “ending” that contract, and bringing his cap hit down to $11M and $14M for the last two seasons. You can play this game of chicken for awhile, but if the player becomes old and you need to move on or retires, you are going to accelerate that money and there will be some pain. It’s why Josh’s impending cap hit doesn’t matter, much like Brees’ cap hit didn’t matter. There’s still going to be a sizable hit, but as long as you can keep the balls in the air with extensions and restructuring, the real pain of the cap hit is delayed until they depart from the team. This is how the Buc’s signed Tom Brady. Due to his retirement, they had all his dead money floating around. But there’s no reason to not keep extending and restructuring cornerstones like franchise QB’s because it’s gonna suck when they retire regardless. In the Von example, we can add years on and reduce his cap hit but why would we do that? If he retired next year, it would just be more pain.

KC won the trade. Best QB in football and moving up 17 slots in the first for the paltry sum of a late first rounder the following year. They have won 3 Superbowls and been to 6 AFCCG since the trade. I’d trade our first round pick for the next 50 years for that kind of success. No brainer. Josh Allen was a great consolation prize, but we were the architects of our own demise unfortunately. -
Updated info for @Thurman#1. Let's look at Xavien Howard's recent contract situation. We all know he was cut with a post 6/1 designation prior to getting his first day of league year salary. Here's the work the good people at Spotrac.com did for Mr Howard, who some might have argued was IMPOSSIBLE to move on from. Then let's look back at the glorious work done by those same good people for one Stefon Diggs In summary: also cc: @BillsFanForever19

They have to prepare to throw the bag at Tua. Need to eat that hit now in 24 and 25.
-
He’s absolutely a HoF QB but he has been surely overrated until recently.

This exemplifies the increases over the years. A 70M difference between 21 and now is pretty stark.

The brightest minds at Cover1 say it’s not possible lol.
