Jeremiah has us taking a DT at 28 in his latest mock
FireChans replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I’d like to prevent my QB from getting injured so really it’s irrelevant HOW he got injured. It’s very simple, less hits = less injuries. We have seen multiple seasons where Allen is banged up for a portion of the year because of an injury, notably the UCL most recently. That includes OL investment success, which I will give Beane kudos for doing a generally decent job, with 2020 and 2023 having pretty strong OL play. That also includes receiving talent investment. Which he gets far worse grades. There is absolutely a fine line between neutering what makes him special and using his gifts too much. I totally get that Allen is gonna be Allen and a lot of the hits he takes is on him. And I totally get that he’s not safe in the pocket either, because his UCL was a pocket injury. But a good way to lessen his hits, without taking away his ability, is to surround him with good receiving talent so there’s a better chance there’s an open receiver to throw to. So he doesn’t feel like he has to run through a linebackers chest to get a crucial first down in November against a team that’s going to finish 6-11. We know that when Allen is backed into a corner and no one is open, he’s gonna lay it all out there. That’s fine. In February, go for it. Surround Allen with a better group than 2020 and his TOs will drop and his head smashing plays will also drop. He has shown he can do that. Allen had 4 broken tackles in 2020. He had 12 in 2021. 9 last year. That’s an imperfect stat, but I’d like to see that number go back down instead of up. -

the most telling thing of all is that @BADOLBILZ@HappyDays @GunnerBill you and I can disagree on a trillion different topics, and yet have all agreed for years that the lack of investment in WR is brutal. Beane needs a small council. We are approaching “Whaley being afraid to draft a QB” status. I wonder if that’s gonna change in the coming years. Obviously, when most teams are targeting to have 3 or more decent wideouts, there’s a bit of a numbers game of mid to late rounders filling those roles. But similar to how late first/early second graded QB’s are taken high in the first, I wonder if we’ll see some (reasonable) value inflation. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a biggest number of WR’s drafted in the first 60 picks ever, personally. When the alternative is paying decent pros like Jeudy $60M, it just makes sense. -

I know that Beane wasn’t the GM. But it was very clear they did not surround him with a lot of help on the offensive side. You’d think a guy who witnessed that first-hand would think, “hey, when I’m running my own team, and I get a franchise QB, I don’t want him running around in circles trying to do carry the entire offense every game.” But he clearly didn’t. So why should we expect he is laser focused on WR help for Josh now? And that’s all well and good that you think that Cam’s career decline can be pinpointed to one singular injury. All I know is if I have a franchise QB, the guy I rely on to keep my job and keep my team in SB contention year after year, I want him putting himself in harm’s way the least amount possible. -

That's my issue with the, "Beane has to have learned his lesson, he will definitely take 1-2 WR's this draft," take. We have no proof that he learned his lesson from Carolina. Why would he learn his lesson from Gabe Davis leaving in FA? Running their athletic QB into the ground and ending their career 3-4 years before it should've by surrounding him with bargain bin bums seems to be their MO. They didn't draft Kelvin Benjamin until after they lost their old #1WR. They are not proactive at the position. -

The Pats had a worse point differential by about 50 compared to the Jets. With the GOAT HC. -

Agreed, but it's still using draft capital. Maybe with an asterisk. Either way its far too low. I'd like to think Beane has learned his lesson, but he was a part of the FO that subjected Cam Newton to trash targets for 5 years, so I don't know. -

If the Bills were the 3 seed in the AFC would you still say they were better than the 2023 team that was the 2 seed? -

I hope the Bills are the best team ever. I hope every single player who puts on the jersey next seasons stays healthy, and plays like the best player in the world. Why would I post that and invite arguments to the contrary? It’s obviously indefensible, it’s just a wish. -

Yeah yeah, you argued that Ken Dorsey was gonna get better in year two, but now arguing Monken isn’t gonna get better in year two. Ooookay bro. you can lead us a horse to water, but you can’t get him to admit that the Tyrod Taylor saga should have made him look his Bills opinions in the mirror. -

FireChans replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Every team in the NFL had injured players who they expect to be better in 2024 as well. That’s another whiff. For every player who is young and developing, another player is getting older and slower. And Joe Brady gets another year. Todd Monken gets another year too. He’s not an unknown commodity either. do you really not see the generalizability of all of these arguments? It’s not just for every team. You could say this EVERY YEAR. Kaiir Elam is developing and is gonna be better in year two. Tre White will be healthy in 2023 two years after his ACL. -
Buddy, what you think is "antagonizing" is actually called "arguing your evidence." I can say, "Diggs isn't gonna get traded because the sky is green." Someone can disagree with the sky being green, without disagreeing about the premise. Like I said, I found your evidence and arguments not persuasive and I told you so. As far as treating other people like they're crazy, I'd advise you to read some of your posts in this thread. I linked a few below. And I'd advise you, to again. look in the mirror. Because you really are a textbook example of projecting. I also never said you thought Allen was gonna win MVP. It was an example. The guy who posted these 3 posts in the last 7 hrs has a problem with me "antagonizing" folks and treating them like they are crazy. there are not enough LMAO's on earth

It’s cowardly to not take what I consider to be a bad bet? You didn’t even give me odds, so I assume you want even money. That’s coinflip odds, and I don’t take coinflip odds on something that isn’t a 50-50 proposition. If I HAD to place a bet, I would bet on him being here. I also won’t be surprised if he’s moved. I am absolutely going to claim a victory lap. I will laugh and laugh and laugh. I will quote this thread for a millennia. The atomic bombs I will drop will make @BillsFanForever19’s Hines thread look like a water gun. The best thing about me clowning you about takes from 12 years ago is that all I have to do is mention it, and you immediately get all riled up. That’s the real victory lmao. Next time @Alphadawg7 gets in some argument about Allen winning MVP or the Bills going the AFCCG or whatever, im going to offer him even money that it won’t happen lol.

So I was looking at the Browns Spotrac page at Amari Cooper in particular. Entering the last year of his deal, with the Jeudy signing, maybe he could be had. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/amari-cooper-16728/ He currently has two void years after this year for around a $10M combined cap hit in 2025 and 2026. His cap hit this season is $23M. If he's traded today, it looks like the Browns would save 12M in salary and take on a dead cap hit of 11M. But what happens to that extra 10M in void years? Would the team trading for him have to put that on their books?

Jeudy Gets New Contract Extension - 3 Years $58M From Cleveland

Sorry, edited even further. Their 2025 offseason they are either gonna be Bills/Dolphins on steroids or have to make Saints moves to survive. -
Jeudy Gets New Contract Extension - 3 Years $58M From Cleveland
FireChans replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's an extension. Jeudy had a $13M hit this season for his option. They probably extended him with the trade to bring his number down. They also had $31M rollover from last year, partially because Watson's contract was structured to have low cap hits first two seasons. This year, his hit balloons to 60+. They are -47M over the cap in 2025, which will increase with this extension. -

I think the odds are that he will be a Bill week 1 are higher than not. If you don't think it's impossible that he's traded, why are you so vehemently arguing he won't get traded, using things like Diggs' comments 2 years ago as proof? Bizarre stuff, to say the least. I thought it was a very fun example of how an article saying a player won't get traded being wrong a mere 4 weeks later means an article saying a player won't get traded is probably not the greatest evidence in the world. Just like Diggs' comments about wanting to stay in Minnesota a year before he was traded from Minnesota means that Diggs' comments from last summer about wanting to retire a Bill mean nothing. Why do you think there's smoke around AJ Brown getting moved in Philly and not Devonta Smith? Because..... wait for it..... he's been traded once before. Again, as above, I lean more towards Diggs staying for 2024 but I find your and Alpha's arguments to be less than persuasive. I think Diggs will be here because his cap hit is high and because the return will probably not be worth it. And because even though he was trending towards washed in the back half of the season, I think he can probably still play in the NFL in 2024 and is decent insurance for any rookie that comes in to not be the #1 out of the gate. But that's it. Articles that say he won't be traded = worthless. Diggs saying he wanted to retire a Bill last off-season = worthless. And if Diggs is traded before week 1, I promise the both of you that I will come back into this topic and demand you kiss the ring and clown you for eternity. Ask @Alphadawg7, I still clown him about takes from 12 years ago.
