What?

I plead guilty - used the 'S-word' a few times describing this year's edition of the Bills. Sorry - that's my story and I'm sticking to it. We got a bit o' swagger goin' on ourselves. Just a bit. You can barely see it, but it's there. On the throwbacks, well, I love ours, but wasn't sure I had the right channel when I tuned in the New Jersey/Arizona game. Thought for a sec maybe I was watching Canisius High School on Time Warner 13.

No thinly-veiled secret that I'm a huge Marv fan, but I'm glad things turned out how they did - Marv 'righted the ship' and left us in great hands, better-off than when he got here. I had a brief chance to meet and exchange a few words with 'The Marv-elous One' at last year's preseason game against Atlanta and agree completely - the wit, the firm voice, it's all still there, but he looked old and tired. Not 'Van Miller-old & tired' (he didn't repeat the same jokes over and over again), but was definitely showing some weakness in his walk. He did crack a few of us up when he walked into a full press box bathroom and said, in that big booming voice, "Well, here we go again..." - referring to the beginning of another long season, I'm sure, but the double entendre was also obvious. GO MARV!!!! May he and Ralph be around to see the rebuilding they started lead to at least five Superbowl rings!

Yeah, he looked that bad. He had a holding penalty, a false start and was beaten cleanly for a sack by rookie Chris Long. When 'PayMe' limped off the field, I was actually wondering if he re-tore the torn-up groin, what with carrying all that excess weight and being so outa shape and all.

Serious question - do you think he might have stayed if he was HC instead of GM? I'm not complaining about the guy he hired as HC - I like Jauron a lot and think he's 'in the Marv-mold' - but when Mularkey resigned, I think Marv really wanted 'one more bite of the apple'...

The pro prognosticators...you know - the self-anointed 'real knowledgeable football gurus'...pretty much have to say schitt like that, I think, or they'd be admitting that they were fools to begin with for predicting Da Bills to finish 3rd or 4th in the AFC East, missing the playoffs again, with a 6-10 or 7-9 W-L record, no? Let's not call a spade a shovel here - the Bills are good. Scary good. We came back and kicked ass in the second half. We shut out another NFL team - one with their coach's job 'on the line' - 25-0 in the last 30 minutes. On the road. That's with a missing Roscoe Parrish, a fat outa shape Jason Peters, and rookies at WR and CB - this team is only going to get better as the season progresses... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! B...bu...but...I thought Peters was the guy that was gonna SAVE Edwards' life - and the Bills hopes - this season Isn't that why Russ was supposed to give 'PayMe' all that money without him even showing up for a physical or a day of work before the season started???

Yeah yeah yeah...I agree with everything you say Bill...we got way too many of these great D-backs that are winning the games for us...and yeah, Ralph was a genius to bring back Levy, and Jauron's a great coach too...but what are we gonna do about our weakness at LT?

A few of my thoughts of my own... 1) Thank GOD for Jason Peters - the bestandmostimportantplayerontheteam - he really is something special for knowing to take his sorry ass out of the game before his stupid, greedy, selfish, piss-poor, outa-shape performance let Edwards get killed.... (but, as some insist, his stupidly 9-Wonderlic/Eugene Parker-inspired holdout has cost him nothing ) 2) Donte Whitner? Come on now...what a reach...another DB...when will the FO ever 'GET IT' drafting all these goddam DBs???!!!! 3) Ralph was a total idiot for re-hiring Marv...who was a total idiot for hiring Dick... 4) DB's? They suck...Jauron was a DB, and that's why he's a terrible coach and also why we suc....oh wait a minute...we're...4-0...that must be 'cause... 5) Maybe some who purport to have knowledge and expertise beyond that of an average blog participant should really just just enjoy the ride that's, at best, cyclical in professional sports.... 19 and 0 baby!!! Had to dig a bit for this - I thought is was a year but looks like it's actually 18 months... link Hope they've put in for the change already, but doubt it - haven't heard anything from OBD. (49ers have already announce new uni's for 2009 season.)
