  1. great...another Jason Peters thread.
  2. You make a valid point, SIC - Chippewa is as safe as any popular bar neighborhood in any city; just don't look for trouble, try to stay between Pearl St. & Delaware Ave., & remember that nothing much good happens on the sidewalks after 3 AM!
  3. Hear me now, believe me later.... Stay here Eat here The combined romance & ambiance of those two venues will give you carte blanche the rest of the weekend. They are also equidistant from BuffTown's two hottest nitespot neighborhoods - the 'Chip-strip' & Allentown. The hotel concierge can fill-in all the blanks. Now since I have no idea what you and 'she-who-must-be-entertained' like to do, try some of these... Frank Lloyd Wright (if you like architecture, also check the links under 'news & events') Seneca Niagara Casino (slots, tables, entertainment, free 'booze while ya loose', & puts you close to the falls) Albright Knox (if you like Warhol, Jackson Pollock, et al - and 'Gusto At The Gallery' makes it free on Fridays) Niagara Wine Trail (who doesn't like wine?) Shanghai Red's (on the lake, and puts you close to the new erie harbor canal development site) RootFive ('way out' in Hamburg, but great food, on the lake too, & might run into a few Bills players here) Don't know when The Maid of the Mist stops sailing, but if it's still going when you're here, it is the ONLY way to see The Falls! BTW - if you want the best wings in Buffalo, it's Gabriel's Gate on Allen Street.
  4. hmmmm....what if scott norwood didn't kick that field goal wide right..... ?
  5. 'All the news that fits, we print.'
  6. Makes you wonder if Russ offered up McCargo to sweeten the deal, and TG and/or Peterson still said no to the deal - either way, I'm OK with the Bills trying, and I'm also OK with seeing how Fine develops and/or what happens in the 2009 draft... GO BILLSSS!!!! 18 and 1 baby!!!!!
  7. Yeah, that's pretty much it - and it'd give him and Jerky Stupidvan something to whine about for the next few years.
  8. Interesting perspective - given the Buffalo Snooze's penchant for patting itself on the back and despite Buffalo's own proclivity for self-flagellation, I think you hit the nail on the head.
  9. Well that pretty much says it all - about all that one can is... DiCesare = Total F cking Idiot! Eschewing the solid, sure, Marv-methodology of building a dynasty that will last for years for the failed, dim-witted Donahoe 'get-'er-in-bed-now-&-shoot-yer-load-as-fast-as-ya-can' catastrophe just shows why DiCesare - along with almost all sports writers, art & music critics, literary reviewers, etc., do what they do for a living - write and dream about what they wish they knew enough about to actually earn a living doing it. GO BILLSSS!!!! 18 and 1 baby!!!!!
  10. Once again, my good friend, I must call "BULLSCHITT!!!!" If...IF...Peters returns to Pro Bowl form, the greedy fat !@#$ is gonna demand top $$$ anyway - the Bills can hang onto him for two more years, then continue to hang on to him for one or two more and/or extort two #1 draft picks by simply slapping the F-tag on him, and it won't cost them any more $$$ (might even save 'em a few bucks since all they'd have to pay is the average of the top five OT salaries). PayMe's already shown how much loyalty he has to this organization - the Bills owe him no special treatment or consideration. None.
  11. Drinkin' already? Kinda early, isn't it?
  12. It's fairly obvious Peters ain't makin' the Pro-Bowl this season (between Mickey, Bill, and Kelly, he's only got 3 votes), and certainly a new contract this year is out of the question given his poor level of play. If he somehow manages to get his schitt together, works hard to get back to form this season and plays well next year, the Bills should probably look at extending him during his final contract year, just like they did with Evans this season. OTOH, if FatBoy pulls any of that holdout crap again, screw 'im. No matter how you slice it, though, looks like PayMe's ill-considered holdout has and continues to cost him $$$plenty$$$.
  13. Bills need to make a 'statement' after losing to the Grosbeaks - I expect Da Billsss to come out with all guns a' blazin'... BuffTown's Superbowl-bound Bills 34 Southern California's Tijuana Taxi Squad--- 13 18 and 1 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
  14. Nice piece, Ken - I think you and others will also like this Time Magazine story from Jan. '66 about same said game... The Game Nobody Saw Jack "Look at me...I'm still all white!" Kemp...Ernie Ladd...Ernie Freakin' Ladd... Those are some great memories. GO BILLSSS!!!! 18 and 1 baby!!!!!
  15. It is... Elle... ...and Elle Tall, but worth the climb.
  16. WOW, RP - big TV, portable, radio, and throw in the 'motorized antenna' - that was the definition of 'hi-tech'! (I still marvel at those electro-mechanical relay remote things that made the VHF dial spin ) Remember when 'data storage' was paper tape? I used to be able to read ASCII and Baudot tapes off the M32/M33 ASRs...then, along came those fancy PDP-8's, core memory, VT100s, and that newfangled mag-tape... OMFG...I'm Cincy!!!!! (JK ) Here's a memory to help thru the bye week... 1966 - The Game Nobody Saw Now those guys were players who played for absolute love of the game (plus about $6,000.00 a year), and left their hearts on the field when it was over... Ernie Freakin' "The Big Cat" Ladd... Link
  17. Holy crap... Keith Amy
  18. Brilliant, Deano - let's breadboard it, throw it in a pizza-box enclosure, and market it as an appliance...sell it as a blade for server farms...we'll make $$millions$$!!!!
  19. So if Trent shows up for practice again tomorrow, I guess we should be worried. Edwards reports, sent home
  20. Um....a whole lot of soldiers returned from Korea in '53 & '54???
  21. OMFG, that's me, #44!!!! JK - ours were similar, but looked more like the real thing. I think we must have had the 'deluxe' version - I seem to remember having both white and blue jerseys, and the pants had a red stripe down the side.
  22. Somewhere 'round '63 or '64 - used to watch the Sun. nite games at my uncle's house 'cause he had 'color-TV'. (He had a colour-TV set with a remote that 'tripped' some sort of electro-mechanical relay and caused the VHF channel dial (Ch. 2-13) to rotate! ) My brother and I had the kid-sized full 'replica' uniforms...not just jerseys - helmets, shoulder pads, pants with the removable thigh pads...ridiculous. Anyway, my most vivid early memory was when the team appeared at the old Thruway Plaza to greet the fans after the '64 championship - they were giving out those small souvenir footballs and I nearly got crushed by the mob 'til my dad hoisted me on his shoulders. Got my souvenir football though! Those were the days... 18 and 1 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
  23. See me.....feel me......touch me.....heal me..... (least that's what Trent's singin', anyway...)
