Beef on weck isn't special. It's a roast beef sandwich on a salty roll. There's a reason it hasn't become popular outside of Buffalo. I suppose you should try it once, but just don't have high expectations. To be totally honest, a French dip or even just a classic roast beef from Arby's have more flavor. I've had Schwabl's, Charlie the Butcher, Duff's, and numerous others over the years, and the sandwich is consistently disappointing. Bocce Club or La Nova if you want to try Buffalo style pizza. Personally, I think Bocce Club is excellent. By the way, if you want some tasty quick eats, try the steak hoagie (!) at Jim's SteakOut and the birria tacos at La Divina.

Week 1: Rams over Bears
-
When I was visiting Buffalo last week, I noticed a street downtown near the Sabres' arena that was called Jim Kelley Way. (I THINK it was Way.) I wondered if it was possible for someone from Buffalo to misspell it, or if it's another Jim Kelley. Also, I noticed that very few people in Buffalo wear Bills stuff, and there are few Bills flags flying. It's strange, because the Pittsburgh area is just caked with Steelers stuff. I actually felt like people knew I was an out of towner in Buffalo because I was wearing Bills stuff...

Somebody ask him why he consistently keeps 5 CBs when 3 are on the field at all times. Meanwhile, he keeps 9 OL for 5 spots and 6 LBs for 2 spots. I've gotten used to it, but going thin at the CB position is a frustrating hallmark of this regime. -

Of course. He was a rested starter during the preseason and Beane referred to him as "elite" -

I was 51/53 on the initial 53-man. I had them keeping Hollister, not Sweeney, and obviously I didn't see the temporary Ferguson cut coming. -

Wingnutz (order at least a day ahead) - Wingnutz Mild sauce -
Yeah, I'm not suggesting he doesn't usually ultimately win the game, but he hasn't chewed them up and spit them out like some defensive gurus have a reputation for doing to rookie QBs.
-
It's a good thought, but historically McD has not been particularly great against rookie QBs
-
I tried Duff's on this trip as well and they weren't very good. The traditional mild Buffalo wings were completely sauceless. Wingnutz are hands down the best, even if you want traditional Buffalo sauce. They offer that (Buffalo Mild), but the best are the Wingnutz Mild. They were ranked the #1 wing in the world. You have to order a day or more in advance though. They usually sell out 5 minutes after opening, if not before opening. To clarify, what I'm saying is that if you just ordered sauceless wings, Wingnutz are the best. I think that's what you really wanted to know. They are huge and they have a perfect crunch.

Cajun honey butter BBQ. These are the best wings in the world, outside of Wingnutz Mild

I've been in Buffalo all week. Wingnutz (Wingnutz Mild) and Bar-Bill (cajun honey butter BBQ) are co-best wings in the world.

I'm not trying to be a jerk -- really, I'm not -- but why is it a dream for a local kid to go to a game? How hard could it be? -
All-white unis all the time?

They pretty much have done that under McDermott, and it's incredibly annoying. I guarantee the opening day uniforms will be all whites. -

I look forward to listening. I wonder why MLJ said this. -
Harrison Phillips knee injury

Less than an hour ago, McDermott did not give this impression; many were saying it sounded like IR is coming (I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but I'm going based off MLJ's tweet and others). Now this from Rapoport right away. Methinks this is coming from Phillips' agent. -
