Steelers fans say hi
-
I agree, the NFL needs to make a choice as to whether they are going to hold that moral arbiter position. Their position on player discipline seems to be quite inconsistent. If they don’t discipline Brown, they should discontinue their practice of player discipline completely. Personally, I’ve always had an issue with how the league dealt with discipline. That’s why I played devils advocate with my statement regarding player indiscretions unknown to the public. If Goodell wants to play judge and juror, the league needs to establish normal workplace rules. Even missteps the average fan doesn’t know about need to be punished. How many NFL players post social media stuff that would get many of us fired? How many arrests etc? If the league is serious about player discipline, treat them like people with a normal job. If that were the case, maybe we wouldn’t have the Brown situation.

Yes, it is. Honestly, it’s that important to every team. There is just one major difference, most teams would part with Brown out of embarrassment. The Brown story has become such a headline that most organizations wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole. It’s simply bad PR, but the Pats are already the evil empire, so they don’t care. Brown doesn’t seem like a great dude, but most fans have no idea of how every team has some real low quality dudes on it. Brown just happens to be in the headlines. There are plenty of disturbing stories of pro athletes that most people will never know. Teams don’t care until they get bad publicity, Brown just found the one team who doesn’t care at all.

Yes, because the media would portray it as a disaster and everyone would believe it. Just as what happened with the Fail Mary and the replacement refs. They didn’t do any worse than the real guys. They were just smeared in the press, so the average fan thought they were terrible. So your answer is no to the original question.

This Marrone vs Vrabel game is a clinic in outdated uninformed NFL coaching. Something about former Pats assistant coaches too (Vrabel), they just seem to coach the most boring brand of football.
-
Yeah, that’s the early part of the NFL season for you. I get the feeling the Titans are an average team without a legit QB, but there’s a chance the Browns are just bad.
-
Exactly, Dalton could only dream of being able to grow a stash as cool as Minshew.
-
This^ TBD is likely the only group of football fans were any Chad Kelly supporters can still be found.
-
I won’t criticize Kelly, but I also won’t criticize Pancho. Lots of jealously around here about Pancho that I never knew existed. The guy became the face of this fanbase. This board is a bunch of grown men talking about football. Fandom in and of itself makes little sense, so why do so many feel the need to put down Pancho? That’s sad imo. I agree, the fact that anyone feels the need to comment that the Pancho thing was “silly” needs to lighten up. The dude loved his team, just as all of us here do. Sure, he wore a costume, but what makes us any less silly?

Buffalo Bills to fans on game day: Behave or be gone
SirAndrew replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ve always parked at ECC. Since it’s a publicly owned area, it makes me wonder if they’d ever start to enforce open container over there. I just hope they get rid of stupid behavior, while still allowing fun. -

This ^ I go to games with family, and just chill with a few beers. Most people aren’t there to cause trouble. I don’t ever want to get to the point where tailgating is completely outlawed, and that possibility doesn’t seem too far fetched. I’m always in favor of outlawing stupidity, but sometimes it gets to the point where fun becomes outlawed. -
Daniel Jones - new starting QB for the Giants
SirAndrew replied to KingBoots8's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see Eli gets a lot of love around here being the guy who beat the Pats. He certainly isn’t THE problem in NY, but he has been washed up for quite some time. Eli’s career is over, and he’s always been quite overrated imo. The dude has had some great seasons, but it was time for the Giants to move on. -

On paper the Browns should have improved. In reality, all the personalities on that team could be disastrous. -

This feels like a Thursday Night game as far as quality is concerned. -

Nah, my narrative is Mayfield might very well become a bust after the already egotistical QB inherited the toxic combo of Landry and Beckham as teammates. -
But he brought in a bunch of big name players and Rex was forced on him, so it wasn’t his fault. At least that’s the narrative from many Bills fans. I complete agree with you. Whaley’s team had no vision, or coherent plan for the future. Rex was a poor coaching hire, but I don’t think he was the only problem. Many Whaley fans think that with a different coach we would have been a Super Bowl contender. That is complete nonsense.

A Few Thoughts about the Giants game, in no particular order
SirAndrew replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I really like this team. There’s a long ways to go until the playoffs. That’s my biggest concern at this point. I just wish I didn’t see every time we get a lead, then McD gets conservative. Those decisions lose against elite teams, as well as most playoff games. I’m just thinking we aren’t going to beat teams like the Pats by playing anything conservatively, so I just hope that part of McD can change a bit in the future. -

Yeah, I love this team and McDermott is a big part of the Renaissance. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve felt we are building a legitimate contender. My only fear is that McD could have a Marty Schottenheimer like coaching career if he doesn’t change. The type of coach that excels with game planning and fields a constant winner, but lacks the instinct needed to be a champion. Oh well, guess I’ll just enjoy where we’re at now, and hope to keep pushing towards the playoffs. -

wheres' the best place to buy a scalper ticket on game day?
SirAndrew replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, the teams/league don’t really care if someone gets ripped off with a phoney ticket. Digital tickets also allow the buyer to be identified which can be useful to the team.
