  1. Another issue with more traditional screens like the the slip screen is how defenses prepare for Allen. They often place a lot of emphasis on maintaining contain, utilize more zone coverage, keep a spy at the second level, etc. This puts them in an advantageous position for defending against deception off the edges. Allen has burned too many teams with his legs for rushers to just pin their ears back and assume the blood in the water isn’t chum.
  2. The “physically capable” caveat is important. If he loses some agility and/ speed after the ACL then it probably becomes a consideration moving forward, especially if Benford and Elam continue to improve. However, it’s definitely not as big of a concern as it was 30 years ago due to medical advancements. White would probably need an off-season to add some mass though
  3. They may have gotten in his head a bit. He and Dobbins weren’t really able to juke effectively in the second half which lead to additional hits. He may have just decided to cut the loss, not risk a fumble, and move on to the next play. Only person who really knows is Jackson. 🤷‍♂️
  4. The inconsistency with Boger and crew is the biggest issue. Most crews have tendencies (calls RTP, doesn’t call holding, etc) that teams can rely upon to even out the calls. Boger’s crew just seems to me more random with what they see and call which puts the results into question.
  5. And tripping on the defense is ten yards & an automatic first down; IIRC. 🤷‍♂️
  6. Better not mess around with the wrong dudes wife in the UAE…. He might end up losing one head or the other.
  7. Teams tend to have at least one guy spying. Might not be a bad idea to run a reverse or something occasionally from a QB sprint or RPO look to add an extra wrinkle. Might help to bring back some of those McK jet sweeps and mix Knox into that mix as well. Give the defenses a few other opportunities to hesitate going forward.
  8. Honestly, it’d be kind of amusing having them be the last undefeated team and knocking them off…. It’d be the most bittersweet champagne they’ve ever popped. They wouldn’t be able to celebrate without pooping on their own franchise. 😏 Be even better if we go on to a SB victory and send them more champagne or a box of cigars.
  9. ^^^ THIS ^^^ I used to pull tobacco in Carolina heat every August on the family farm. It’s absolutely brutal, but you get accustomed to physically exhausting labor in 90°+ heat in full sun and no breeze after early morning thunderstorms. You get conditioned to it, but anyone who isn’t wilts after an hour or two. It’s even worse in the barns which are just as humid but 120°+. There’s a reason why most of those farmers hire migrant workers to work those fields…. Most Americans don’t want to do that work, but that brutal farm work is also a reason why Allen usually performs well in those conditions. In any case, those Miami advantages disappear later in the season and into the playoffs. The Dolphins have no way to prepare for Buffalo weather from November through the playoffs. They cannot acclimate to snow, sleet, freezing rain, sub-zero temps, or the ice cold moisture filled lake wind. It evens out, but for the sake of fairness and health it probably would be a good idea for the league to schedule the first game in B-lo and the second in Miami. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Dolphins drop this Bengals game due to carryover exhaustion.
  10. Don’t provide that dude with instruments to violate our players….
  11. All good. Get healthy and make that run… It’s not that much worse being a wildcard now than it is being the 2 seed since there’s only one playoff bye.
  12. Big ass open corridor that channels December wind from Lake Erie down the visitors side and let’s it funnel straight through. 🤷‍♂️. No clue, but if there’s no rule against it I’d do it just to see what happens…. “Player safety”.
  13. Dudes been a dirty player and cheap shot artist since college. Definitely deserves a high/low shot or public callout on his usage of football games to violate various (sexual?) assault statutes.
  14. Next time there’s a game like this in Miami they should set up shade tents and allow the Pegulas to eat the fine for “player safety” concerns with NFLPA backing.
  15. Hard to eat on the edges when all of the starting outside receivers are out, injured, or cramping. 🤷‍♂️.
  16. Unlike the media we should also remember that Byron Jones is out and Howard has a pulled groin. That puts a lot of stress on Miami since they favor man coverage when they blitz…. McKenzie ate that defense alive on his own when we were resting starters.
  17. No clue. People tend to forget that a lot of these guys live and do their off season conditioning in places like florida, Georgia, Louisiana, etc. They grew up and live in that heat half the year.
  18. As far as DBs go….. maybe Eric Stokes (4.25)? Dude has the uncanny ability to turn the burners on and run by WRs on deep routes. Can’t think of anyone else playing CB now. Historically, Deion Sanders and Darrell Green come to mind.
  19. GB probably has the best combination of defensive talent and scheme to stop Allen & Co. Not sure if they have the offensive weapons to compete for the whole game though. They’d have to have a very dominant day running the ball and winning TOP on top of one of those young receivers having the light go on.
  20. The bears backup QB was all big ten iirc. Not to mention a guy like Robert Quinn would absolutely destroy a college OT.
  21. Damn. Some of y’all need to consult a Dr about Xanax
  22. I thought you were saying that it was the in the pocket hits that did more damage than the hits while scrambling? I was saying that it’s not the running/scrambling that gets them injured, but being in a compromised position when hit regardless of where they are on the field. That usually occurs behind the LOS because they’re passing, but whether they’re inside the pocket (Cam) or outside of the pocket (Rodgers), or down the field (Garcia) doesn’t matter much. Basically I was trying to broaden the scope from “in the pocket” to behind the LOS. Half of Steve Young’s injuries were outside of the pocket but scrambling to make a pass; most notably the Sapp & Nickerson KO blow. However, the rules now certainly make many of these injuries less likely. A helmet to helmet hit on a defenseless QB who was just horse collared would probably result in a ejection/suspension now.
  23. Would you consider Rodgers a scrambling QB? Both times he broke his collarbone it was behind the LOS, IIRC. Both we’re tremendous at scrambling and buying time behind the LOS. Both got injured behind the LOS. Occasionally elivering blows in the manner of a RB or FB isn’t what kills these guys. It’s usually getting nailed while trying to deliver a pass from an awkward body position/platform. That said, there are rules now which didn’t exist when Brady, Rodgers, Big Ben, and Cam started their careers. The body weight rule was in response to the Rodgers hit by Barr. The Brady injury resulted in the rule about going low on QBs. Cam petitioned the league about how refs treated him. All of these things changed how the game is played and officiated. At the end of the day I’d prefer to see JA17 slide unless it’s a critical play, but there’s a lot more protection now than there used to be. The hits are different than they were 10-15 years ago. The NFL doesn’t want their money making faces injured and has legislated that out of the game as much as possible.
