Looks like John Brown was released

I'm sad. -
Someone needs to make the obligatory comment: "Go get him Beane!". LOL.

And because Ralph Wilson rescued his friend Al Davis monetarily!

Good point. The only thing I can say in Buffalo's defense is they had picks 12 and 14. They planned to take Jimbo at 14 and knew Detroit at 13 was all set at QB, with Eric Hipple leading them to the NFC North crown the previous year (although, technically, there were no divisions that strike-shortened season, only two conferences). I suppose Detroit could have traded with a team who needed a QB though, like New England, who took Tony Eason at 15. It was a risky move by the Bills, although they still had franchise QB Joe Ferguson.

General History and where I am at with the Bills.
chongli replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We beat the Jets on the road in 1981 in the AFC Wildcard, thanks to Bill Simpson's last-minute interception. We then lost at Cincinnati, the eventual AFC champions, in the Divisional Round. That year, three of the five AFC East teams went to the playoffs: us, the Jets, and Miami. -
Bills sign WR Tanner Gentry to PS
chongli replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe the host just wanted to make it sound better for Gentry and make him happy during the interview, so he rounded down instead. 4.6 is close enough to half-way between 4.0 and 5.0. :-) -
Bills sign WR Tanner Gentry to PS
chongli replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to this article in the Denver Post, he ran a 4.46 at his pro day, which, rounded down, is 4.4: https://www.denverpost.com/2017/05/07/tanner-gentry-nfl/ "His predraft, pro-day workout at Wyoming further buoyed those hopes, as his speed (4.46 seconds in the 40-yard dash), strength (19 bench-press reps) and hops (38-inch vertical leap) pointed toward being drafted." -
Marc Sessler "one fit for each afc team"
chongli replied to the_D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FTR, here is his article and excerpt for Buffalo: https://www.nfl.com/news/2021-nfl-free-agency-matchmaking-one-fit-for-each-afc-team "The offensive line needs attention. Guards Jon Feliciano and Brian Winters head to market alongside sturdy right tackle Daryl Williams. Thuney's a rock. To be fair, an expensive rock who might be tagged by the Patriots. Still, the Bills can't ignore how the ground game went flat for quarters at a time. Or how Josh Allen is the sun around which all of Western New York spins. Landing a Canton-level presence at guard would go a long way toward preventing a blackout." -
From the website: "Choose from 31 Teams & Shield Logo" So why is there no version for the Las Vegas Raiders?

Bills submit rule proposal change on interviews
chongli replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you for making this post Gugny. You call it like it is, and I like your style. We need to use this as motivation for next year. Don't make excuses, and just go out and kick butt. :-) -
He was a very good player. The article only included current players though. I personally wouldn't put him in the HOF. He was a leader on championship teams, but so were lots of other good players in the NFL--way too many for only seven players (five current and two from the Senior Committee ?) enshrined per year. He did have four trips to the Pro Bowl and once was an All-Pro, but that isn't quite good enough.

Machine Gun Kelly: you have been so nice to me with this and your other post. And thank you for taking the time to write this. This really encourages me. Thank you for being so welcoming. I try my best. I try to post only when something is meaningful; and try to add substance to the forum, especially now that it is slower in the off-season. But most importantly, I try to emulate the well-respected posters here: you and a number of others. This board is both very civil and knowledgeable, and I like that. As for potential Hall of Famers for our team, I agree with you. Still way too early for Allen, Diggs, and White (as well as McDermott, Beane, and the Pegulas), but their futures appear to be bright. Right now, Tasker is the one who really needs to get in.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/every-nfl-teams-most-likely-future-hall-of-famer-tom-brady-aaron-donald-among-17-locks/ Here is my summary, with lock or not from CBS. They list two former Bills as locks: Jason Peters and Frank Gore. Not sure I agree about Baltimore's Justin Tucker as a lock considering so few special teamers get in. Steve Tasker belongs in before Tucker. Former Bills player LeSean McCoy is not listed, and won't get in, IMO. Arizona - Larry Fitzgerald - Lock: Yes Atlanta - Julio Jones - Lock: Yes Baltimore - Justin Tucker - Lock: No, but close Buffalo - Tre-Davious White - Lock: No "White is still in the early stages of his career Josh Allen's 2020 season gave him consideration for this spot. But the nod ultimately went to White, who followed up his 2019 All-Pro season with a second consecutive Pro Bowl selection. White's play last season helped the Bills reach their first AFC title game since 1993. More seasons like the one he just had may get Stefon Diggs into this conversation next offseason. In his first season with the Bills, Diggs led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards while earning his first All-Pro nod. " Carolina - Christian McCaffrey - Lock: No Cincinnati - Geno Atkins - Lock: No Chicago - Khalil Mack - Lock: No, but very close Cleveland - Myles Garrett - Lock: No, but appears to be on the way Dallas - Tyron Smith - Lock: No Denver - Von Mille - Lock: Yes Detroit - Adrian Peterson - Lock: Yes Green Bay - Aaron Rodgers - Lock: Yes Houston - Deshaun Watson - Lock: No Indianapolis - Justin Houston - Lock: No Jacksonville - Josh Allen - Lock: No Kansas City - Patrick Mahomes - Lock: No, but closer than you think Las Vegas - Derek Carr - Lock: No Los Angeles Chargers - Joey Bosa - Lock: Yes Los Angeles Rams - Aaron Donald - Lock: Yes Miami - Xavien Howard - Lock: No Minnesota - Harrison Smith - Lock: No New England - Cam Newton - Lock: No, but this should be up for debate New Orleans - Drew Brees - Lock: Yes New York Giants - Saquon Barkley - Lock: No New York Jets - Frank Gore - Lock: Yes Philadelphia - Jason Peters - Lock: Yes Pittsburgh - Ben Rothlisberger - Lock: Yes San Francisco - Richard Sherman - Lock: Yes Tampa Bay - Tom Brady - Lock: Yes [They also list Gronk as a lock and Antonio Brown as a possibility if he continues successfully] Washington - Brandon Scherff - Lock: No Top Free Agent Candidate: JJ Watt - Lock: Yes

Bills prospect Syracuse CB Ifeatu Melifonwu
chongli replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FWIW, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has Kansas City taking Melifonwu at 31, right after we pick at 30. He has Edge Gregory Rousseau going to us: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2021-nfl-mock-draft-steelers-49ers-panthers-all-trade-up-for-qbs-dolphins-land-wr-and-rb-for-tua/ -
Colin Cowherd's QB Dominoes for the 2021 Off-Season
chongli replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. New England will suck still with Mariota. Along as they don't get Garoppolo, and Miami still tries with Tua. -
Colin Cowherd's QB Dominoes for the 2021 Off-Season
chongli replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe, but they still have one of the best defenses with all their opt-outs returning. You can't just throw that away. Plus Belichick is too old to do a rebuild. He needs to win now to cement his legacy before retiring. If they were going to take their lumps, this was the year to do it. And he is too arrogant; he thinks he can win with what he has and still outsmart the other AFC East teams.
