Agreed with the redemption angle. Cincy usually gets off to slow starts, but they would be hyped for an opener on national TV at Buffalo. Of course. we would be too, as we have lost the last two to them.

Random talking head says something about the Bills

Better power rankings: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/nate-davis/2024/12/17/nfl-power-rankings-week-16-eagles-bills-chiefs-lions/77039770007/# 1. Buffalo 2. Philly 3. Detroit 4. Green Bay 5. Minnesota 6. KC -
My prediction, if the Bills do win the SB (no jinx), is Cincy at Buffalo, which @boyst also predicted here on the first page. The NFL prefers not to have inter-conference (and also division) games for the NFL Kickoff if at all possible, despite Buffalo at LA for 2022 (no other choice really) and Detroit at KC for 2023 (only other choice was Cincy at KC, but they wanted to save that game for later). But Philly, KC, and Baltimore are possibilities (but both Baltimore and KC played the opener this season, so less likely).

It will home to either Washington or Philly, depending on who wins the NFC East. The 2025 opponents are here, which has the 17th game: https://www.buffalobills.com/schedule/future-opponents Houston is probably a reasonable drive too for you?

Just an update: KC at Buffalo and Buffalo at Houston (both bolded and italicized above) are now locked in, as KC and Houston have won their divisions. Only home vs. either Philly or Washington is yet to be decided, but we could know by about 4 PM this Sunday after the two play each other. Almost certainly it will be Philly who ends up winning the division by season's end.

Tyler Bass, the 27th most accurate career kicker in NFL history, ahead of the disgusting Gary Anderson, Hall of Famer Morten Andersen, Vinatieri, Sea Bass, and Jay Feely. Only behind House Money by less than a percentage point. He is the 15th most career accurate of the currently-active kickers. Enough said. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/fg_perc_career.htm

Niners scorn 'selfish' De'Vondre Campbell's refusal to play
chongli replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
And to add, local sports radio here is saying if Campbell had gone in the game, they might have beaten LA in a close game, as the Rams would have had more trouble running up the middle. They desperately needed a Mike. And if they had won, they would be right in the thick of things for the division title. -
Niners scorn 'selfish' De'Vondre Campbell's refusal to play
chongli replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
Minor update: Jay Glazer is reporting that it was SF GM John Lynch who confronted Campbell on the sidelines in the 4th and sent him home. Campbell had refused multiple requests from the coaches to play, starting in the second quarter. Lynch heard the reports and wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth. Lynch, as a former player, knew it would get ugly if he undressed with the other players after the game, so he told him to get dressed and pack up his things and leave. Team security escorted him to the locker room. It's been in sports radio here in SF all day. Players were calling in after the segment with Glazer and saying they never knew Lynch had this fiery alter ego. Greg Papa, a local sports guy, said it was his "Red 47" personality, which contrasts to his usual, calm (?) "Captain America" personality, whatever that means. -
I think it is premature to include Josh. Right now it is OJ.

You mean "should've been 45-14"? Since we lost seven points. It was 3rd and goal at the one but then the Dawkins penalty and Tyler Bass miss after the injury timeout.

Jared Goff didn't want to be drafted by Buffalo (unsubstantiated)

I think he was the type who just wanted a chance and would happily play for any team. After years of Buffalo being the laughing stock of the country growing up in the 80's, I don't take kindly to people mocking the city. -

I care about that too. But I also dislike enemies and want them punished. I take pleasure in exacting revenge. -

Goff respects Buffalo now. He is 0-3 lifetime vs. Buffalo. He dissed Buffalo...he is persona non grata AFAIC. F' him. We will teach him more respect for years to come. He will regret his decision. -
I hadn't seen this anywhere and I thought this deserved its own thread. The guy made this allegation. He seems to be a legit tweeter and is followed by a number of Buffalo media like Nate Geary, Air Raid, Cover 1, etc. Take it for what it's worth. (Oh, and Buffalo made the payoffs the year after LA drafted him.)

Is this worst weekend day of the year for sports?
chongli replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Army-Navy game was awesome this year. Plus, did anyone mention the Heisman presentation last night? That was worthy too. Ashton Jeanty and Travis Hunter both gad good cases. -
Did not see this posted. Looks like we dodged a bullet: From the ESPN article: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42968588/source-bill-belichick-inquired-jets-coaching-vacancy "Belichick, who quit the Jets in 2000, tormented them for two decades as the New England Patriots' coach and recently made critical comments about owner Woody Johnson, personally reached out to inquire about the opening, a source confirmed to ESPN on Saturday he Athletic first reported that Belichick's camp had contacted the Jets, with the New York Post reporting that Belichick himself made the inquiry. There were no formal discussions with the Jets, who fired Robert Saleh on Oct. 7." [...] "Belichick, in his various media roles, was critical of Johnson for his decision to fire Saleh only five games into the season. The acrimony goes back a quarter-century. After serving on Bill Parcells' staff from 1997 to 1999, Belichick walked away from the Jets on the day he was supposed to succeed Parcells, famously resigning as the "HC of the NY Jets." Belichick quit, in part, because he didn't want to work for Johnson, who had just purchased the team. Belichick sued to get out of his Jets contract, leading to a trade to New England, where he won six Super Bowls. In 2007, the Jets blew the whistle on Belichick for illegally videotaping their coaches during a game, sparking the Spygate scandal."

Randy Moss stepping away, health concerns

Appreciate the good medical insight here from people like @Mr. WEO and @Ethan in Cleveland, among others I forgot. (I recall @Beck Water had some good info also on various medical things in previous years.) Thoughts go out to Randy. 🙏🏻 -

He was told to go in when Dee Winters was injured in the second quarter, but he refused. Then when he didn't go in in the third when Greenlaw's knees began to hur more, Shanahan got on the headset and asked the D coordinator why. That is when he found out. Then Campbell went to the locker room in the fourth and left the stadium before reporters could track him down.
