  1. The players were all thrilled. They love fast food and many were grabbing 3 or 4 or 5 Whoppers, Big Macs, etc. They all had their phones out taking pics. https://www.courant.com/sports/college/hc-sp-clemson-fast-foot-trump-mcdonalds-20190115-20190115-opqragfuijgdtnhaddqdcbhw5u-story.html
  2. Really? So Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish, and RJ Barrett are academic all-stars?? It wasn't a controversy.
  3. Uh, one of those "lunatics" was our All-Pro guard for a number of years and was esteemed by many fans here. Do not disparage him.
  4. On a related note, the Bears are interested in Kareem Hunt: https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-cb-bears-ryan-pace-matt-nagy-20190114-story.html 4. Neither Nagy nor Pace shut the door on the possibility of the Bears considering signing running back Kareem Hunt to help their offense. Hunt was cut by the Chiefs in late November after TMZ uncovered video of the running back shoving a young woman and kicking her during an argument in a hallway outside of his Cleveland residence. The NFL placed Hunt on the commissioner’s exempt list soon after. Still, Nagy acknowledged that he spoke with Hunt earlier this month to see how he was doing. The Bears coach was with Hunt throughout the 2017 season when he led the league in rushing as a rookie. READ MORE: How should the Bears and other NFL teams assess character when evaluating players like Kareem Hunt? » The Bears would certainly face fallout for signing a player with a history of violence against women. But from the tone of Monday’s news conference, Nagy and Pace were hardly averse to the idea. “The circumstances are always different,” Pace said. “We’re not even there yet. I mean, I know what he is as a player obviously from watching. Matt knows more about him as a person. We’re not even close to that point.”
  5. I just hope there is someone good out there in FA if Dawkins shifts to RT. I can't see any good TE's to draft at 9. I can see us drafting an OT though in Jonah Williams or Greg Little, or DT or even WR.
  6. Foles can exercise his option after the Eagles exercise theirs. The Eagles would have to franchise him.
  7. If you think Dion is a franchise LT, then ok. And a number of mocks have us taking Greedy Williams at 9. We need a CB more than a TE as long as we have Clay.
  8. We are not out of the waters yet. Next year is the year we determine if Allen is the guy. He needs to continue to improve. If he stagnates, there will be many here calling him a bust.
  9. 1. It will be difficult to completely fix the OL in free agency. You need to draft to find a franchise LT. They are rarely available in free agency. It might have been a mistake to trade away Glenn. 2. There is no way we are drafting a TE in the first, not with bigger needs at WR, OL, DT, and CB.
  10. I got criticized on another thread here for saying the same thing. Woods, Watkins, Benjamin, Hogan, Gillmore, Robey-Coleman, Jones. But if Andre says it, it's true. Got it. Guess I was right afterall.
  11. It's ridiculous all these former Bills receivers are in the playoffs: Watkins, Woods, Hogan. They all sucked with Buffalo.
  12. You mention in (1) that GM drafts the QB. Then in (3) that McD drafted players. I think McD could have drafted a QB early in the 2017 draft, but he had Tyrod and Cardale to evaluate. And being so new, he did not want to make a big move to draft a QB until he knew the team better and consulted with the GM. So he started small, then went big in 2018 for Allen. He might have drafted Mahomes if he was evaluated as a generational talent like Andrew Luck, but he wasn't.
  13. The NFL season used to start Labor Day weekend in the 80's and 90's. The SB was always the last Sunday in January. If it was going to be in February, the NFL scheduled only one week between the conference championship games and SB instead of two (see SB XXV and XXVIII, where the Bills got shafted). In the name of the almighty dollar, the NFL changed it so the season would begin the first weekend after Labor Day, since many families were on vacation and getting ready for back to school. That, and the bye week or weeks (there was one year where each team had two bye weeks in the season) necessitated moving the SB to February.
  14. No. Presidents Day is the third Monday in February. The SB is the first Sunday in February. It would never work. Yes, I wish people would get their priorities straight here.
  15. So, on the one hand, you want to accommodate drunks with hangovers that Sunday, but on the other hand, you also want to promote Chick-Fil-A, which is a very religious restaurant. I'm sure they would love that: get smashed, then have chicken from us on the Lord's day while you recover from your hangover. You would have to replace that day of lost productivity on Monday with a paid holiday Friday, since the NFL wants the host city to benefit from a full weekend of business. So Friday would have to be like Saturday, to allow workers to go there early.
  16. No. MLK Jr. Day is always the third Monday of January. The SB is always the first Sunday in February. No way it world work unless you started the season in August. And the SB will never be on a Saturday. The ratings on TV would be too low for the NFL. They have it at the best time, when everyone is home. On Saturdays everyone is going out and doing errands. And for me, the SB ends at 7:30 PM at the latest. Why would I have trouble making work the next day? In Washington DC after the 1983-84 SB on the following Wednesday I believe it was, no one showed at school, and instead, went to the parade to honor the team from Washington. School administrators were furious, as it cost the district much money.
  17. No. according to Colin Cowherd, BB has one of the worst coaching trees in the NFL with few playoff wins, as opposed to Andy Reid, who has the best. His former assistants have the most playoff wins in NFL history. They are all highly respected and most have many playoff wins: https://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/article193570754.html Jim Harbaugh Steve Spagnulo Todd Bowles Sean McDermott Doug Pedersen Ron Rivera Matt Nagy Pat Shurmur Brad Childress Leslie Frazier
  18. I just got this message: "YoloinOhio quoted you in a topic: Jets select Adam Gase as HC 3 minutes ago" but I could not find the post.
  19. Walter Football loves the hire. http://walterfootball.com/coachfirehire.php Jets hire HC Adam Gase: A+ Grade This is the best hire of this offseason. Adam Gase, once called the "next Bill Belichick" by Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, coached two of three seasons in Miami with his starting quarterback healthy. In those two seasons, Gase took the Dolphins took the playoffs once and had them in postseason contention in the other before Ryan Tannehill got banged up during a victory against the Patriots and was never the same after that. Tannehill, by the way, was one of the worst starters at his position in the NFL. It was quite amazing and impressive that Gase was able to keep the Dolphins in contention despite not having a viable quarterback. This won't be a problem with the Jets. Gase will be able to coach Sam Darnold. This seems like a great fit. Gase has coached up bad quarterbacks to play well, and average quarterbacks to perform on a somewhat high level. Gase will be able to help Darnold take the next step. This is a fantastic hire, fully worthy of an A+.
  20. First-world problems. I don't feel sympathy for those who choose to get drunk. What would really make more sense is if Election Day every year is a national holiday.
