The problem I have with Barr is that he's a SAM that has never proven to be a good pass rusher. Not interested in spending big bucks on that type of player.

Jordan Phillips is trying to recruit players.
BillsSB2020 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Always good to have ambassadors for the team. Makes me a bigger fan of Jordan Phillips. Some people didn't like Stevie Johnson and his recruiting efforts didn't pan out, but I appreciated his efforts to promote Buffalo and the Bills. -
Cardinals tweet their support of Right Josh

There's a difference between shopping and listening to offers. I would agree that that the secrecy doesn't provide some great advantage, but there's really zero benefit to showing your cards at this point. -
Is Trent Brown a possible option?

Still like Brown and SF has been a cluster**** for awhile now, but that's a much better argument against him than the overly simplistic "never take a Pats FA." -

My personal opinion is that they're taking Murray, but it would serve them no purpose to disclose everything either way. If you're shopping Rosen, you want teams to think you're "listening" to offers, but not desperate to deal him. You could also say there is incentive to not disclose everything as it pertains to the number 1 pick, especially if you're NOT taking Murray. There's no benefit to showing your hand at this point. My hunch is that Cleveland was always going to take Mayfield, but you may as well keep that close to the vest in case something comes up with him and another team blows you away with a trade offer. -

The game has little to do with their upcoming number 1 pick and everything to do with an attempt to create a bidding war. -
Is Trent Brown a possible option?

I think he would be a tremendous addition. Yes, skepticism of NE offensive players is fair game, but past is not always prologue. He's a mauler in the run game and would open up a ton of options as he's probably a better guard than tackle, but is more than serviceable at that spot. FWIW, he graded out well by PFF who judges each player individually. We need to get bigger and stronger up front and this guy is exactly that. He's also 25 years old. I'm a big yes. -

I generally agree with the sentiment and this would be a VERY unique situation. Only one that comes to mind is Brees/Rivers. My take is that a vet QB like Flacco/TT/McCown but that didn't materialize, may take a hit in performance as the internal and external pressure to play the rookie takes a toll. At the end of the day, the young guy is going to play anyway so it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. This would be different. May the best young guy win and you trade the other one. Getting QB right is by far the most important thing a franchise must do. If they're not sold on Rosen and love Murray, why not? -
Justin Houston released by Chiefs

We're a pass rusher away from a truly dominant defense. -
This whole fight business is kind of silly, but I would go with Smith. Tyree comes across as a really nice young man, which is kind of a detriment in a fight. I suppose I'm in the minority, but I find Steve Smith entertaining. Not a great look with Jackson, so I don't see coaching in his future. I think that windup will derail any hopes TJ has of playing QB. His path in the NFL is TE IMO in the mold of Logan Thomas. I make that comparison because of circumstance, but it doesn't mean Jackson couldn't develop into a much better player than Thomas.

I prefer the 92 playoff game because I distinctly remember Cowher's halftime interview during the comeback game. Already gameplanning for the Oilers. Karma is a B. -

I would bet alot of money that Murray NEVER makes it to pick #7. Not a bad read though. DK Metcalf is going to be star IMO. I'd be fully on board with this pick. Do you like Harry? -

Then the GM calls the team Ben's "kids?" That is NOT going to go over well with a room full of grown men who play a gladiator sport for a living. Pittsburgh could very well fall off a cliff next season. -
Bills re-sign Jordan Phillips
BillsSB2020 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. Lorax is almost certain to decline, Murphy is always injured, Kyle is gone, and Lawson has never been much of a pass rusher. Hughes is the only guy I have much faith in to get to the QB and that's not nearly enough. This is obviously a great signing as it's a one year deal and Phillips has shown he can play, but the Bills can't rest on their laurels at the most important defensive unit. -

So we don't like capitalism? I have no problem with a player maximizing their bank account. They play a game that can severely impact one's quality of life down the road. -
Browns exploring trade offers for Duke Johnson
BillsSB2020 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd much rather throw a mid round pick at Duke Johnson than pay Tevin Coleman big dollars in free agency. Think he can do the same things for much less of an investment. For such a rare name, it would be kind of odd to have three recent Bills players named Duke. -

I heard the comments so I braced for something terrible when I watched that little interview. I came away wondering what all the fuss was about. Just seems like a cocky guy with a rough upbringing. Typical NFL wide receiver persona. Definitely not a model teammate, but the talent is going to outweigh the headache for some team. -
I don't like Rosen at all, but I'd be shocked if he didn't fetch a first. Maybe a first NEXT year, but I think people will be surprised if they expect him to go for a 3rd.

Justin Houston released by Chiefs

This would be an outstanding addition and the only major one they'd need to make defensively. -
Pure speculation, but Anthony Barr just doesn't do it for me at the price tag he'll command. In five seasons, he's never recorded more than 4 sacks. With Milano and Edmunds, I wouldn't want to invest heavy in a LB who's never been a productive pass rusher. The main improvement the Bills need to make defensively is the pass rush, so my hope is that they're looking for more explosive edge athletes whether it be via draft or free agency. All things being equal, I'd much rather they spend that money on Quinn or HOUSTON if possible.

Anyone Remember The Bills “Double B” Hats?”
BillsSB2020 replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meh. -
If your defense is FOCUSED on keeping Metcalf(and Foster) from beating you deep, EVERYTHING will be open underneath. Having a guy like Metcalf would create matchup nightmares. You're gonna have to sacrifice the 10 yard hitch as the previous poster alluded to.

Definitely a huge problem. Derailed my brother's collegiate basketball career(not trying to impress anyone because who cares?). I watched him go through hell trying to recover. Never played again once it became too much to bear. I'm sure NFL players have higher quality medical care and such, but I'd be leery of that particular injury based on personal experience. It really depends on the degree and it's encouraging that he was able to put up those numbers.

How can we not be all in on Metcalf now?
BillsSB2020 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. It seems like Oliver was so highly touted going into the season that the collective football world starting scrutinizing his perceived flaws well before the normal vetting process. Not sure if any of this actually translates as each team will compile their own board and he could still go top 5. I'd be thrilled with Oliver at 9.
