  1. No, but we have Allen.
  2. It could also be a miss match. What's the difference between how he was being used last year, compares to this year?
  3. What is the bar here, for this to be a successful trade? You are right about Clayton, but wouldn't you say that he's the anomaly?
  4. Everything involves risk, nothing is guaranteed. That being said, he's more than worth the risk, given his upside. The biggest risk with draft picks, is even knowing whether or not they can compete or excell at the pro level. He's already shown that. Additionally, his skill set is not only the exact thing we miss on offense, but also the perfect compliment to Josh's arm. He doesn't need to be the guy, be a 1400-1500 yd guy to make this a successful trade. Its his impact, on how teams will need to defend us.
  5. whats the over/under on # of snaps.
  6. where are you guys hearing this?
  7. Honestly, the only worthy discussion should be about the price. A 1st and a thrown in, or 2 2's, something like that.
  8. For anyone bashing his poor start this year, anyone remember how Randy Moss looked as a Raider? He doesn't need to come here to put up big numbers, he just needs to be able to put fear into defenses, if they want to continue to sell out with the blitz. I have no doubt that if we were to trade for him, we'd be getting last year's version.
  9. We have Shaq Thomson, who has been our best performing LB this year. We also have Hoect who we can deploy in our big package formation. Can be used similar to Lorenzo.
  10. Thanks for the insight. This is exactly what I was hoping to hear, and matches the vibes I got from him this preseason.
  11. That really is as optimistic as it gets, all things considered. Makes me think it's more likely he makes it back in time for the KC game, if he's already this close.
  12. WOW....the football gods must of heard us. All we need now is Max to hopefully replace Tre in a week or 2, and Hancock to be the solution to our safety problem. I for one, have high hopes for Hancock. The Bills did, what ironically the old regime was smart at doing. Getting guys that were CB's in college, and drafting them to be a safety in the NFL. I believe that happened with both Jarius Byrd, and Aaron Williams. Hancock was a starting CB for Ohio State, and although not highly regarded as an NFL CB prospect, he seems ideal to start a safety. He's6' tall and 195lbs, ran a 4.42 at his Proday. Likely would've been in the low 4.5s if it was the combine. Good vertical. I know it was only preseason, but he popped, in the limited action we saw. This is a question for any Ohio State fans on here. #1 How was his tackling in college? #2 Was he asked to play a lot of zone coverage in college?
  13. True. I do like what I've seen from the pass rush this year with a healthy Bosa and Walker. Now if we could only patch up the secondary to allow them an opportunity to get there.
  14. The McDermott scheme doesn't seem to be too pass rusher friendly. Although Leonard Floyd, did manage to get 10.5 sacks. Besides him, no one seems to ever crack double digit sacks on this team.
  15. For me it's not stats, it's about what defenses are able to do against our offense. If this continues, Allen won't finish the season. The last 2 games, Allen has been hit more times than I can remember. Teams are sending the house, and betting that our receivers won't get open in 1 on 1 situations, and they've mostly been right. There were a lot of us here, myself included that hated the Keon Coleman pick, because there were far too many scouting reports that said that he failed to separate at the Collegiate level. If he was a 5th round pick, that was coming in only in certain situations as maybe our 4th or 5th guy like Shavers, than I would absolutely love him. But the fact that he's been relied on to start as our X receiver is an absolute mistake. In that regard, it's on Beane and not Keone's fault. He doesn't control when or who drafts him.
  16. You're not wrong, but there are still some counter arguments. I for one still think, that for the right price, BTJ could've been had. Beane has proven, that if he really likes a guy, he'll find a way to go get him, and I think that if serious efforts were made, we would've heard about it by now. Strictly my opinion. For those that always balk about the price, we ended up spending our 1st pick on Coleman, and then an in-season 3rd rounder for Cooper. Most on here would jump at the idea of trading for Olave, if he was realistically available (2nd round pick +). As it stands now, we still don't have a capable outside receiver, that can vertically stress opposing defenses. We have this one of a kind (WMD/Bazooka) but have failed in investing in ammo. We took the 2 2nd rounders, our own, and the one from the Diggs trade, and turned it into TJ Sanders and Landon Jackson. I for one, would like to see some serious draft capital, to land a difference maker or 2. In these post season showdowns against KC, where it always comes down to a couple plays a game, Josh has had very little help in those moments, outside of maybe Cook last year. Don't get me wrong, overall Beane has made a lot of good decisions and is considered one of the better GMs, but he is far from maximizing/unlocking what peak 17 could do. Lastly to your point about the defense allowing a subpar KC offense to score 32, I would say that for 2 years in a row, we had the ball with a chance to close, and we failed both times. Not arguing that our defense sucks, or has been poor, but we continue to spend.....spend..spend on defense, to the detriment of our offense. I would like us to balance that out a bit more.
  17. You can never have enough pass rushers. Not to mention, Bosa is on a 1 year deal, and Rousseau is a #2. Upgrade your number 2 for a number 1.
  18. The most severe lcl sprain is 8-12 weeks. Any more severe, and it would've been a full tear, and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
  19. I agree that Hancock needs to be the answer for Rapp. Unfortunately I'm afraid that there's this ungodly amount of blind love for T-Rapp. I'm hoping they start to get him some work, like they were doing with Strong. Max also needs to take over for Tre White. Baptism by fire, live with the results. Better to figure this out sooner than later. We don't need another 3 year Elam experiment.
  20. Haha...this video makes me want to sign him
  21. I don't know if this particular thing has been discussed, at least not very much, but I feel like our pass pro has taken a huge step back this year. Jerry Ostroski was on WGR recently, and was asked about the offense's early struggles, he mentioned potential complacency with both Brady and the oline as at least one of the things. Our season ended last year, because our oline had no clue who to pick up on a blitz. If I'm not mistaken, I believe KC only sent one extra guy, but it confused us so badly, that there were 3 guys running free at the QB, and there were multiple olineman standing around blocking no one. I saw a similar thing happen against Atlanta Sunday. Another thing, was a great point a caller made on Monday. He said, we like to operate a lot out of condensed formations. In doing this, you bring a ton of guys into the box, and invite a lot more exotic blitzes. When you line up in a spread formation, it's much harder for a defense to disguise their blitzes, and in turn a lot easier to diagnose where the blitz is coming from. In my opinion, Josh is at his best, when we are spreading it out, and allowing him to do that. How often do you see KC get fooled this badly? When they lose, it's because their lineman lost the rep, not because they're lost and confused. I know Josh has to a better job with his pre-nap reads, to properly adjust the protection, but post snap there should also be a better plan by the oline.
  22. Yes, agreed Josh played a poor game. That being said, it's the why that we have to look at. Every QB misses reads, and the better ones miss less. But as a whole, we had a poor game plan going in, and as Joe Marino points out, the Falcons have a small but fast front. You exploit that with power football, which we started to do in the second half. Just like in the Baltimore game last year, we try to get cute on a 3rd and short and give back all the momentum we had. We had an opportunity to really put them on their heels and get back on track, when we try a stupid end around with Moore. You beat speed with size and power, and you counter size/power with speed. They had no answers for the run. You either try power up the middle with Josh or Cook, and keep running until they stop you. Cook was getting some nice chunks when we started going to him, and once the Falcons over commit, than we hit them with the pass. With all the blitzing, I also don't understand why we didn't max protect more. If we're already using heavy sets to run, wouldn't we want to stay in that same set to max protect, to allow more time for our receivers to get open. Atlanta was getting instant pressure on Josh. When you can apply that kind of pressure on a QB, their internal clock gets totally messed up, and then all that what is being described is the end result. Fix the protection issues, and everything will fall into place.
  23. Good OCs/DCs, maybe have small learning curves out the gates, but not after 26 games. That's more than enough time to sink or swim, and bobby is sinking. Brady didn't do much better this game, but he at least has a better track record of correcting his mishaps. I would classify Brady at this point as average - slightly above average, and Babich to somewhere between below average - terrible.
  24. Until we start hitting on day 1 and day 2 picks, we should start shipping them away for proven talent. The Rams won them a Superbowl, and they had one down year, and are immediately right back in it. Beane does much better on day 3, for whatever reason. Problem solved.
