I have been a Shady fan for a long time. It has been fun to watch him over the years. His game is based on quickness and that short burst of speed to hit the gaps. He appears to have lost some of that ability in the run game. He is still a dangerous receiver and can still beat a guy in space. IMHO his future will be as a third down back at a much reduced dollar contract with another team after this season. Let's hope he can stay healthy and pull off one more good season in 2019.

When can we move off the trade Shady mantra? A 6 mil contract, 31 years old, and declining productivity equals zero trade value. No team is going to trade for him based on his performance two or three years ago. There are currently better options than him in free agency right now. I hope there is some mentally deficient GM out there that just can't go on without taking Shady off our hands but I doubt that one exists. The only real options for the Bills are to keep him or cut him. I expect them to keep him and start the season using him. If the productivity isn't there, his usage will evaporate. As for Zay, he may not have shown enough productivity to garner much interest around the league. In a scenario where a team loses multiple receivers, there may be some minimal interest. Other than that, I'm not expecting a trade. IMHO he's good enough to be a team's second or third receiver but clearly not a lead dog.

Eric Dungey over Tyree Jackson

Actually Cardale Jones had a decent game today. He made several really nice throws. He may not hold a roster spot in LA but he has a decent chance to catch on somewhere. -
They Might...Just Might, Be Really Good

Exactly.....how many times have we gone off the rails over a couple of preseason games just to be crushed in the regular season? Granted, the roster appears to be better and deeper, but let's wait until the games are real. -
I was at that game and he had ample opportunity to slide. He chose not to so that he could make a first down. Had the defender not lowered his head with a bad form tackle, he could have creamed Allen. I'm sure the coaching staff explained this to him. A starting QB needs to be aware of the longer term ramifications of getting injured and play smart.

The quantity of runs may not be the real issue. Running as the game and the play dictates should be the determining factor. Take what the defense is giving. Getting out of bounds or sliding to avoid contact needs to be the priority. Hurdling linebackers is just a stupid thing for a starting QB to attempt regardless of how cool it was.

I believe that the only time he ever stopped running his mouth was at his post Super Bowl press conference, after Denver kicked his butt. He pouted like a little girl and walked away from the podium. That has to be my favorite Cam Newton moment. -
I agree with you on this. There also seems to be a clear New York City bias. With much of the news media centralized in NYC, they can't help themselves from having a bit of a homer bias. They can't believe that their JETS could possibly be worse than the Bills. Some of the so-called media experts clearly do little real research and are more interested in generating clicks and viewership, than being accurate. Even though many of us don't like it, it is their business/job.

Browns trade Duke Johnson to Texans

I think you're correct on this. I believe the RB combination next season will be Singletary as the lead back and Yeldon being the back up and passing down back. McCoy and Gore will be gone in 2020, unless McCoy unexpectedly has a huge season. -
How many Bills games have you been to
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too many to count, starting at the Rock Pile as a kid. A bunch of road games, including London, were a great time (even when we didn't win). Some great times with a lot of great friends. -
All this took was three decent drafts and free agent signings in a row. The Bills went along time without having three decent drafts in a row. Now what these guys need to do is play like the sixth best group of players under 25. Unless they do that and more, this is just another hollow assessment by ESPN.

WR battle heading into first preseason game

So you think four of the receivers will be small, quick guys. Beane's comments don't lead me to believe that. I guess we'll know in a few of weeks. -
Bills working out OL Sam Young

I agree with you. He was not one of the top 8 linemen. The three guys capable of playing tackle are Dawkins, Nsekhe, and Ford. These three will be on the roster. Ford may very well play guard but will be moved to right tackle if one of the other two guys miss games. Nsekhe would move to left tackle if Dawkins is injured. This looks to be a reasonable rotation. IMHO, other than Morse and Spain the other three roster spots appear to be wide open. I also expect a young developmental tackle to be on the practice squad. -
WR battle heading into first preseason game

IMHO 6 receivers will be on the 53. The top five guys seem to be fairly straightforward. I think some of us are going to be surprised on the sixth guy. I think it will be one of the taller guys that can work the end zone and sidelines. Earlier in the spring, Beane talked about having a receiver group that consists of guys that do different things well. Keeping four quick short receivers doesn't exactly provide that. The preseason games will do a lot to solve this. It is nice to have talented options this year. Personally, I won't be upset regardless of who the sixth guy is. You can make a good case for a couple of different ones. -
After reading some of these posts, I had to run outside to make sure the sky hadn't fallen. During the preseason we all seem predisposed to jump to the worst conclusion when injuries occur. Until there is an official injury update, I will just chill. It's ironic that people whined when Waddle was signed and now many of us are distraught over an undefined injury to a guy that may not even crack the roster. Such is the life of the poor downtrodden Bills fan. Go Bills!

I don't know enough about the specifics of his latest violation to judge his current situation. In general, he seems to have been given significant opportunities to keep the train on the tracks. His failure to take advantage of any of these chances seems to be a clear indication that he is incapable of doing so. Giving him a job with the ability to earn millions of dollars does not seem like a rational plan. He is likely to just refill his personal pharmacy and travel on down the road to his own self destruction. It is a very sad case indeed and reminds me of the Justin Blackmon case in Jacksonville. He was also a young supremely talented receiver with a chronic substance/alcohol problem. He was unable to get it together to have a career in the league.

I see this pretty much the way that you do. Excluding Kicker, punter, and long snapper, playing well on special teams boils down to attitude and effort. Many special teams players are not the best athletes on their teams and as you point out aren't even relevant as depth at their positions. Keeping too many special teams only contributors can erode the roster depth. It's a fine balance. IMHO certain roster depth players should be clearly told that their spot on the team depends on their effectiveness on special teams. Bills special teams were anything but special last season. With a new coordinator, Roberts, and healthy kicker and punter; things should improve. If DiMarco is that good, maybe he displaces one of the tight ends. It will be interesting to see how the Bills fill the roster.

I am so glad that the Bills don't have to deal with the drama that defines AB as a person. For a guy that is an amazing talent, it is a sad commentary on him that people feel that the productivity that he brings to the team is not worth the trouble in dealing with him. Pittsburgh was the clear winner in that divorce.
