  1. A lot of Mahomes success has to do with the situation he entered into. He would not have that in Buffalo. Your original post implied that he could step into Buffalo and do what he’s done in KC. That’s probably not the case when you consider the circumstances in Buffalo which have been talked to death. Also with Jackson, very few teams weren’t willing to do what Baltimore has done and change their offense. If they were open to that, Lamar probably gets picked a lot sooner. In fact if Baltimore didn’t draft him, how far does he drop? To go back and use hindsight just seems so pointless because you can always identify moves that should have or shouldn’t have been made without considering context. Thats like saying “The Bills never should have passed on Tom Brady 6 times in the 2000 draft.” Come on! But Im in agreement about Allen. He does need to get better. In fact, it annoys me to see so many people want to blame Daboll or the defense. The fact (there’s that word again) is that he hasn’t been able to generate enough points to beat teams like NE or Baltimore.
  2. “They haven’t played well in a month? That’s total pessimistic Bills fan BS...and we all know this. Look at their opponents. Outside of the Jets, you have 3 of the top 5 defenses. The offenses struggled to score points in all 3 games - largely because their QB has struggled against these types of defenses. Still the struggles on offense have been well documented, how has it been any worse this month? Still even with the offense struggling, the defense played well enough to keep the team within 1 play of winning the game in the 4th quarter. Allen and the offense didn’t get it done. So yeah...your statement. Total garbage
  3. I disagree. I didn’t see many red flags and the fan base was pretty excited after watching the sad group who lined up at WR that season. I think it was definitely worth a shot at the time. It didn’t work out, but you can’t fault Beane for trying.
  4. This story is freaking wild. The burner account more than likely has to be Manish. I don’t think there is any way of knowing, unless law enforcement sends a request to Twitter. They won’t share information under any other circumstance
  5. That was Chan’s fault. He stood by George Edwards after a disastrous first year as DC, and it ended up costing him in year two. He ended up firing Edwards anyway. Then rather than trying to bring in a new defensive mind, he simply promoted Dave Wannstedt to DC. Wannstedt was the coach of the linebackers who certainly were not standouts. Of course, Wannstedt sucked and Chan got fired the next year. He just never could get the defense in order It’s insane how much blame he gets for Josh Allen’s failings
  6. Do you mean cut or traded in 2017 or 2018? Didn’t they trade a 7th round pick for Coleman? Obviously it didn’t work out, but I don’t think trading a 7th rounder for a former 1st round pick with potential is a bad move. Low rush, high reward
  7. More textbook Bills fan negativity. So here’s the thing - the point about the offense has merit. They do need to score more points and a lot of that has to do with the development of Josh Allen. I think they are living with his limitations given the promise of his potential. The whole thing about the schedule rings kind of hollow to me. The Bills have had similar schedules in the past (as have other teams) and they managed to find a way to lose games they should have won. Give credit to McDermott for getting his team ready to win. Your whole argument about Beane not drafting Lamar is silly, considering that just about every other NFL team passed on him in Round 1 - including Baltimore. The thinking was that he wouldn’t fit a conventional NFL offense - which he probably doesn’t. I think this is where you have to give Baltimore credit - they thought outside of the box and revamped their offense to fit Lamar. And Lamar got better - he really wasn’t that great last season. Also, like Mahomes, I think it’s far-fetched to think he could replicate the success in had this season. The again negative fans love to revise history
  8. Thanks for the rational reaponse @Alphadawg7. We’re both on the same page here. And so many here are looking at this move in hindsight and not considering why the move was made at the time.
  9. Ummmm explain what’s you mean. Because I didn’t think the trade was as bad as an idea as the analyst said.
  10. So the Bills were 5-1 when they made the trade but desperately needed help at WR. Would you have been cool if the team sat on their hands at the deadline and didn’t make any moves. Your response Is big on hindsight. It was not a bad move. And you can even argue that if he doesn’t make the move, they might not break the drought. Was it that big of a whiff though. He traded a 3rd for a player who would be the best WR on his team (yeah I know that’s a low bar). I would say they KB’s return was probably worth a 5th. It’s not terrible - plus when you have needs at the trade deadline you often overspend. No issue with the trade at all this is how I see it.
  11. This is what I’m saying. At the time, I thought it was worth the risk. It was a low-risk, high reward situation. It never panned out but also wasn’t disastrous and it didn’t really have a negative effect on the team. Most people like this reporter are blowing this “miss” out of proportion.
  12. Interesting because the way that players talk about Marv made it sound like He was George S. Patton and that they would go to battle for him. I do agree that he was outcoached in every Super Bowl
  13. I was reading a national reporter talk about the job Brandon Beane has done as GM and while he liked this years signings he said he whiffed on the Kelvin Benjamin trade. But did he really? I mean, if you have to declare a winner I would say that Carolina’s 3rd round pick was probably a better return for what the Bills got out of KB. But I don’t feel it was as one-sided or as bad of a move as it may look in hindsight. DRAFT CAPITAL The Bills gave up a 3rd round pick. It wasn’t a 1st or a 2nd (like NE sent to Atlanta this season). The Bills also have 2 third rounders that year. So while a 3rd round pick is valuable, the Bills has the draft caption to make the deal. Also keep in mind that a few months later Beane would deal Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland to get that second third-rounder back. So this pick wasn’t as big of a loss at it appears. POOR WR DEPTH Second the Bills were desperate for receiver help. Their starting WR’s that season were Zay Jones, Deonte Thompson, Jordan Matthews (briefly) and Andre Holmes. Jones barely gets any reps in Oakland and the other 3 were out of the NFL 2 years later. This was a pitiful crew and they needed help. Benjamin was probably the best option out there. THE DROUGHT WAS LOOMING The 17 year playoff was weighing heavy on this franchise. Terry Pegula inherited the drought and the negativity from the fan base that went along with it. He tried to distance himself from the drought and it only annoyed fans more. Thanks to a hot 5-2 start the Bills had a shot of ending it and earning a playoff spot. McDermott and Beane had a chance to do what no Bills coach/GM had done in 2 decades. They knew how important a playoff spot would be for the franchise, the fan base, and “the process.” Did Benjamin contribute to this? Not really. His best game was against NE which was a lopsided loss. But you can argue that KB’s TD catch from Peterman’s in the snow was the biggest play in what, perhaps, was the most important victory against Indy in the snow. So you can argue that he had a big part winning a pivotal playoff game. INJURIES AND BAD LUCK Benjamin’s first 2 NFL seasons were very solid. While he did have an ugly knee injury and issues with weight, bringing a player with his talent and experience seemed to make a lot of sense. Unfortunately on one of his first catches with the team, he ended up hurting his knee which hobbled him the rest of the year. He played the rest of the season under 100%. I’m not saying he would have dominated if he wasn’t injured, but I do think he would have been more effective. After writing this I’m more convinced that taking a flyer on Benjamin for a 3rd was definitely the right move. Yes you can argue that he was a mismatch for the QB. Benjamin was a 50/50 receiver and QB Tyrod Taylor refused to throw those kind of balls But in the end I think trading for KB was the right move.
  14. You know I was thinking about this earlier today. There were a number of sites that listed Daboll as a candidate (as well as Frazier). If Daboll does leave, which I highly doubt, I think that on paper Pat Shurmur makes a lot sense. He was known as a “QB whisperer” and someone with a great mind for offense. I also read that Shurmur rated Allen during the draft process, though when they played NYG son Week 2 he didn’t have the most glowing review of Josh.
  15. Whether you like McDermott or not, he made a plan 3 years ago and it’s gone off close to how he planned it. The “Championship Caliber” mantra is inline with where he thought the team would be going into the 3rd season. Excellent job of developing and executing a long term plan. Now is where it gets tough...but if there were any doubts - McDermott is a damn good coach If you are going by X’s and O’s and having a vision then yeah I would agree McDermott was better Where Marv excelled was being a leader and managing the different personalities in the locker room. The Bills could have ended up like the Cleveland Browns this season, and while they came close in 1989, Marv never let it happen. He was also a great motivator and got his players to work hard. Of course, I think he had great fortune given the players Polian brought onto the team. I also think that Ted Marchibroda and later JIm Kelly pretty much ran the offense, so he was lucky there too.
  16. Maybe they are “high” on him but I don’t think he gets the job
  17. I can’t wait to get my Brian Daboll coach’s jersey because he’s going nowhere.
  18. Same thing that everyone said at this time last year. “Oh man, that schedule is going to be hard.” ???? That’s why I get so annoying at the fans who automatically assume the Bills will take a step back, thanks to those fools at PFF.
  19. ?????????? anyone know what the hell this is supposed to mean?
  20. It probably would be sweet for Gaine if the Bills came away with a win. The rumor is that Gaine and Bill O’Brien we’re old friends that worked well in Houston. Gaine left a Houston and became Assistant GM with the Bills for 1 season before jumping back to Houston as GM signing a 5 year deal. In just a year and a half, there were enough disputes and disagreements between Gaine and O’Brien that Billy pulled a power play and got Gaine fired. It was pretty crazy to think that he still had 3.5 years on his contract and the he was given less than 2 years at the helm. Nothing would be better than to get Gaine some retribution for the knife that BOB jammed in his back
