  1. That’s not what I’m getting at. My point is you have to consider the salary cap years down the line. If the Bills are going to tie up $30M+ on Josh Allen, $17M+ on Tre White, $12M on Dion Dawkins it’s going to drastically change their cap space. So you need to find cost controlled players on rookie deals. If the Bills draft a DE in Round 2, he’ll have a year to play behind Addison and Hughes and then can start in the 2021 season allowing them the flexibility to clean up their cap by moving on from either veteran DE. To your argument about a DE other places - with a few exceptions, most of the quality edge rushers in the NFL were drafted between Rounds 1-3. Also in three drafts McDermott has never spent a high pick on a DE. I just think all signs point to a DE in Round 2.
  2. This is what I had heard. He was a fairly good pass rusher for a DT but given his pressure to sack rate, you can’t argue that his sack # was a bit of an outlier. He was not the best run defender, so they figured they could get comparable or better production from a rotational DT for less than $10M
  3. From what I read, he didn’t do the best job playing the run. Many of the times when the defense was gashed on the ground, Phillips was in the game
  4. Some members of this group out together their own boards!?!? I would love to see them.
  5. I’m not saying I personally would do it, it’s just what I’m guessing. Only because they have no future option at DE after this season. Hughes and Addison are short term at this point. You can make the argument at CB2. If they resign Tre they will want a cost-controller started on the other side for the next 5 years. I see CB as a real option too.
  6. I think RB is certainly a possibility but I don’t think they’ll draft one before the 4th round. I think that the pick in the 2nd round will be DE or CB. They might not go offense until rounds 4 and 5.
  7. So cool - thank you for the informative and respectful response. I’ve often wondered about Chuck Knox and the circumstances to his leaving Buffalo. This helps...much appreciation ??
  8. Good Point. I always wondered how each person (beside Carole) started their zoo - especially Joe. Are we to believe that he bought 2 cats and started breeding and doing shows and scaled from there?
  9. To lose that game a lot of things had to go wrong....and did: - Josh Allen panicked - OL struggled - Defense couldn’t get HOU off field - Questionable playcalling - WR’s collectively had their worst game - Knox and Morse missed a key block To put the blame on one thing alone is wrong
  10. I would love this pick but I have a feeling they are going edge rusher or CB and by the time they pick in the 3rd he’ll be gone. Really do like this prospect
  11. In defense of McDermott, it’s not like they tried to play ground-and-pound with a 16 point lead. They did try to throw the ball and put points on the board. Unfortunately Josh Allen didn’t have a great second. They probably should have given Motor more carries. Don’t want to see Gore on the field ever again.
  12. Because I want opinions of Bills fans...not the facts. I know the facts - just want some context and analysis. Not many people are talking about Chuck Know or the 1981 Bills these days Thanks - did Kay have a good reputation as an up-and-coming offensive mind or was he just a cheap hire to replace Knox? Kind of like the hires of Craig Williams and Mike Mularkey?
  13. Im asking because Chuck Knox was coach of this 1981 football team. I’m wondering why he left Buffalo and how much of an impact his departure had on the team. It seemed that Kay the Head Coach was a colossal clusterfreak
  14. what? I’m asking about Chuck Knox. Hopefully someone can give me the 411
  15. Um... check “Personal Life” section. He was older, wiser (and probably humbled) by the time he came to Buffalo. But he had his off the field moments early in his career
  16. I will admit, I don’t know much about the Bills before JIm Kelly joined the team. I could never figure out Chuck Knox, he had 2 bad seasons, 2 good ones, and then a disappointing year. Didn’t get along with Ralph and walked away. What a shocker. Many older fans lamented that the Bills let him go, probably because Knox had a few good years with Seattle and the Bills were saddled with Kay Stephenson who appears to be the “hot” coordinator turned crappy head coach. How big was Ralph’s decision not to retain Chuck? And was it all over money?
  17. Everyone is thinking offense with this draft.... I think it will be heavy on defense especially in the higher rounds
  18. Unless it’s suddenly postponed, it’s looking like the NFL Draft will be on is in a few weeks. In this thread, make a bold NFL Draft prediction about the Buffalo Bills. I will start - my prediction is: The Bills won’t draft a WR until Round 5. For all the talk about WR prospects, I believe the Bills feel good about their WR room. I see the team drafting an Edge Rusher, CB and RB before they go WR. Also I see the Bills drafting a QB in around 6
  19. Part of the reason they lost is because the offense stopped scoring.
  20. I appreciate you positing this again. I never would have found this on page 69 of that thread.
  21. I never said Duke was the reason the Bills lost. I did say that his play is the reason why WR was a huge priority. His poor play showed Duke likely isn’t worth of the snaps he was getting at WR2. I think we can agree that there were a lot of factors for the losses. I think you forgot to add Josh Allen to the list. He panicked and pissed the bed and played like garbage for most of the second half Not really he had a chance to contribute on a grand stage and he responded by dropping passes. Both the TD and a catch late that would have put them in FG range. He’s nowhere near ready to be a contributor on offense. Maybe our 6th WR.....MAYBE
  22. So you’re going to compare 9 years of ownership, with 40 years? Makes sense. Glad you enjoyed the drought
