  1. Every time Duke caught a pass you could hear the crowd chant "Duke", "Duke", "Duke"! It reminded me of the "Bruce" chant of old. From the TV it looked like maybe 25% of the fans in the stadium were Bills fans. My guess is that will be surpassed when the Bills head down to Miami.
  2. To be clear it's not about not wanting to hear anything negative about Allen. It's about unfairly claiming that today's INT was a terrible decision & throw and that it was another example of Allen playing hero ball to the detriment of his team. Hell, I screamed at the TV "why did you throw that ball Allen"! I was pissed off and couldn't believe Allen had made that kind of mistake again. But then after watching the video it clearly was not the bad pass I though it was watching the game in real time. In fact I want Allen throwing that pass every time he has the opportunity. IMO, what the BIlls need to do is better execute their pass patterns on scramble drills.
  3. I would love to be a fly in the film study room for that play. But at the very least it's fair to say that this was not like the INT's last week. It sure looks to me like the receivers were confused. For example it didn't help that Knox brought his cover guy into the area - like he did last week on Allen's 3rd INT. When watching other games featuring mobile QB's the receivers seem to do a much better job of getting open during the scramble drill then the Bills guys do. At times it looks like all the Bills cluster together like a little kids soccer game. Part of the problem I suspect is that with Foster out, there isn't a lot of speed out there to stretch the field. On a positive note this is a very fixable problem. I bet they work on it during the bye week. With Allen's ability to break containment the Bills should be seeing more big plays here.
  4. Go to page 1 of the Allen Report Card thread and watch the video. And it's not just Yeldon stopping on his route but Beasley and Knox also look lost out there. The Bills skill players must do better on the scramble drill.
  5. I'm going to keep beating this dead horse until it's hamburger but over on the Allen Report Card thread is a video that convinced me the INT was NOT on Allen. It was an aggressive but great throw that had Yeldon NOT stopped on his route he would have caught the ball and the BIll's would have converted a 3rd & long. I bet in film study the Bills staff will agree with this assessment. In fact I suspect they will want Allen to continue making that throw as it will most often lead to big plays then INT's. It's fair to criticize Allen when he plays hero ball. But that pass was NOT an example of Hero ball. It was more an example that our receivers are not as smooth as they need to be during a QB scramble.
  6. Yes we can. It's a ridiculous obsession. Every draft sees teams pass on studs. Do you think Jacksonville would have rather picked McCaffrey over Fournette in 2017? The Bills didn't even take a QB in 2017.
  7. Forget about regretting not picking Mahomes. That's small potatoes compared to trading Daryle "the mad bomber" Lamonica to Oakland for Tom Flores! Now that's a QB decision I will never recover from.
  8. I know I'm beating a dead horse here but after watching the video evidence in the Allen Report Card thread that INT was NOT on Allen. Was it an aggressive throw? Yes. Was it a stupid or careless throw? NO. Would Tyrod have made that throw? Hell no! I'm watching KC tonight and their receivers execute free form patterns a lot better then the bills do. Watch the video and get back to me. Yeldon looks LOST out there. For most NFL teams Allen's throw would have been a great 3rd & long pick up. And for the record isn't it funny that we all think Allen sucked becasue of those awful INT's last week. And for sure Allen had a bad day. But it's interesting that Zay Jones got benched and Duke was brought up from the practice squad & inserted into the starting line-up where he made a solid contribution. Maybe when they watched the game film there was more to those INT's then we saw? The thing is we'll never know from Allen's demeanor because he won't ever throw a teammate under the bus.
  9. Today's INT may not have been on Allen. In fact it probably should have been a great 3rd & long conversion. Check out the Allen Report Card thread and watch the video evidence, which is very strong, that Yeldon messed up. As for this threads question - Allen is the guy IMO. He's like the stock market he goes up and down but the overall trajectory is up. But was it a bad Allen throw or a bad route run by Yeldon? The Allen Report card thread has compelling evidence that the INT was on Yeldon, NOT Allen.
  10. Wow, you're 100% correct. If Yeldon runs that out it's a huge big play by Allen. I think we have to be honest and admit that the Bills still have some work to do to further upgrade the offensive skill players. You don't see a lot of guys getting good separation and Allen's throws are almost always into very tight spaces. When a guy breaks wide open in the intermediate spaces Allen hits him. Think about Brown today; Knox against Cincy and Beasley against the Giants.
  11. My God this guy is a total loser. What a hack. I think I would jump off the Golden gate Bridge if I had to read his crap all the time. He is the most depressing sports writer I have ever read. Thank goodness this worthless piece of crap isn't syndicated. Frankly I loath this guy. There is no excuse for a sports beat writer to be this negative. How does this candidate for a lithium fix have a job with the democrat & Chronicle? Has Rochester deteriorate that much? Today's game had so much to get excited about. A huge road win against a team we may be directly competing with for a playoff spot. Our young QB bounces back from a nasty injury/terrible game. The D continues to play at a playoff level. A new guy on the O makes a big splash and it's a great story to boot. Bills fans take over the stadium! I mean Judas Priest if I owned the D&C this guy would be writing obituaries. Wait, scratch that. It would b cruel to have him write those as one can only imagine how badly he would trash the recently deceased.
  12. I can't believe anyone is bitching about this game! And please enough with the "if they made their FG's we would have lost". Yea and if a goose flew over and pooped on Mariota's head he may have thrown a pick 6. This was a huge win for the Bills. To beat a playoff contender on the road is always great. To see this team keep it together after losing several key players as the game unfolded is encouraging. This IS a playoff team. The D looked fantastic. Edmunds played another great game. He is close to taking over games at the middle LB spot. Josh Allen is the guy. I no longer have a doubt. Sure he'll have bad throws and make some head scratching decisions. But to bounce back and play the solid game he did after last week is another example of the intangibles this kid has. The other stuff he will learn with experience. And I believe that in 16 starts this is the SIXTH time he has directed GAME WINNING (either from behind or when we were tied) 4th Quarter scoring drives. And Duke was a revelation. Not only did he make plays but you can see how much bigger he is then our other WR's and how important that size is. As the season unfolds Dabold will find new ways to use him and both Beasley & Brown will benefit from his presence on the field. And don't underestimate how impressive that last drive was to run out the clock. With 2 starters out on the O-line and a rushing attack that had done NOTHING through 3 & 3/4 of the game to come out and get four straight 1st downs at the end to salt the game away was impressive. This is what playoff teams do.
  13. Allen had an excellent day with one bad throw against a very good defense. And let's not forget the 2 dropped passes by the TE's each of which would have been for a 1st down and kept a drive alive.
  14. Hell, I need a bye week. Watching the Bills this year has been exhausting! Four of the five games have gone down to the wire.
  15. There's no value in hiding whether Landry can play or not. The prep is similar. In fact if I was the corner assigned to cover him I'm going to be more nervous knowing he is playing!
  16. Hell, even when he's healthy as a horse I hold my breath every time he runs!
  17. As others have noted it's pretty straight forward: * if Allen is cleared he plays. It gives the best chance to win the game AND it helps us in the LONG RUN as every game Allen plays in makes him a better QB going forward. * If Allen isn't cleared we go with Barkley who is more then capable of leading us to victory against TN. As an aside I have the same sense that others have noted that there is a small group of Bills fans who want Allen to sit so Barkley can shine and be the guy going forward. This is NUTS IMO. If Barkley plays and throws 5 TD passes it doesn't change a thing. Allen starts against Miami. If you want another 5 years of 7 - 9 to 9 - 7 seasons collapsing to 4 - 12 when the D runs out of gas hope that Barkley is better then Allen. If Allen isn't the guy, and I think he is, we're back to square one at QB. Barkley isn't the guy no matter how well he plays Sunday if called upon.
  18. Both teams. I don't hate either of them and it's fun watching Goff & Wilson play QB!
  19. I agree but that's also a problem because with Foster sidelined the Bills have at most (and I think it's stretching it a bit) one "explosive" receiver in Brown. I think we'd all agree that a fast, big bodied WR would be a perfect compliment for Beasley & Brown.
  20. Fair point. I guess they figured with signing Beasley, Duke & Brown they were covered. The also signed Easley & Sills a FA's. But yea you think maybe they would have grabbed a guy in rounds 4 - 6? As an aside I don't think the Bills are happy with the WR situation. Depending on Allen's status the latest moves might indicate that Duke is going to be activated and Easley is getting another look.
  21. There is truth to this. I get the need to build up the lines and that is where the focus had to be on offense but the organizations track record with skill players has been spotty. We've had a couple but we don't keep them. Now that may be changing with the drafting of Singleterry & Knox.
  22. That was a mistake. His comment on WR's though makes sense to me and i think we do need an upgrade at the 3rd WR spot.
  23. Wow that throw & catch was a carbon copy of Allen to Knox!
  24. To be fair it typically takes a lot longer for a rookie O-lineman to make an impression compared to a WR. Especially if that WR has Russel Wilson throwing to him. Let's revisit this at the end of next season.
  25. Did everybody catch what Aikman just said about Cooper Kupp? "A receiving core is only as good as it's 3rd receiver". Hmmmmmmmmmmm
