I don't like exposing the kid either, but he gets cheap shots whether he runs or not. That, and Daboll has noted what plenty of us have seen here - that Josh gets in a rhythm with his passes, and hits more of them, basically he gets better once he has a few runs under his belt.

Have not come back to this thread for a while, but was just thinking that teams have to start realizing that most linebackers are going to lose in that "spy" role with Josh. Starting today I assume that we are going to see more safeties and bigger nickle corners getting the role - should mean that much more of the middle of the field will be open on passing plays and if we actually had an o-line that could get to the second level, teams would be more vulnerable to draw plays and other runs. Josh's ability to run is a thing now that teams will be forced to address.

Watched it on TV with my late brother-in-law (RIP - we miss ya Dave). I had just moved out to Minneapolis broke and looking for work and he and my sister, who were recently married, let me stay at their place till I got on my feet. Disgusted with the score, I went back to unpacking boxes and it was Dave who yelled, "Your Bills just scored again - I think they are coming back!". We watched and cheered the rest of the way - I think I turned him into a Bills fan that day. Great game and great memory.

Seemed like a face-saving thing for the NFL, as the video went viral and all that. The fine was kind of a slap on the wrist all things considered. I thought they would most likely suspend him. No matter how upset Jerry gets there is a right way, and the way that gets you fined - so it is what it is.

Maybe they gave Henry a pass on that little tug on the mask (not denying it happened), because right after that he tossed that 246 lb linebacker off the field by the shoulder using his one free arm. Going to be pretty embarrassing for the Jags defense when they review film with their DC (Todd Walsh - I think, never sure with how they go through coaches). I am sure Jalen will inspire the rest of them by saying things like, "there only so much I can do - the rest y'all suck". Watching the Jags this year is like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

I usually am more annoyed when the hands in face rule is not enforced on offensive blockers as it is actually written. On a runner, especially the power runner variety, tacklers should know they have to take a good angle to get them low, or they will likely be immortalized as the brunt of an internet meme.

NFL facilities have been fighting devastating MRSA bacteria problems for a while...last place you want an exposed wound. Thought they had a handle on it after the Browns had to virtually nuke their facilities a few years ago after MRSA ended some players careers, but prob something that will always be a threat around the league if staff and players get lax on prevention.

I think this statement is a bit of a stretch, but we all do it to support our position. I think Dawkins took a bit of a step backwards this year, but it could be the lack of a veteran RG next to him (as crazy as Richie was, he could ball) and the communication needed between those positions to handle stunts and such. Teller is raw, has upside, but there is plenty of room for improvement and growth. From center to RT and throw in blocking TE it is an inconsistent rotational mess. So it could just as easily be said that, "I don't think our OL is all that far away from being a complete disaster" for instance if either of the quasi-dependable young players on the left get injured. Josh Allen is your investment, first and foremost they need to protect that investment. The only thing keeping him from being broken and concussed like other QBs that have gotten behind this line is that he has the wheels to avoid the rush, but that only goes so far and stunts his development in regards to going thru his progressions and being able to pass from the pocket. I like that he has the scrambling skills, and they should always be part of his game, but he needs to be able to stand in there when it makes sense to do so, rather than take off, have all the receivers break off their routes and do the street-ball thing he is good at. I am all for getting some stud weapons for him, but I think the priority on offense thru FA and draft should be inside-out.

Yup. The way these (insert your favorite expletive here) close ranks when in the wrong, and their version of addressing their own performance issues is rarely a transparent process that leads to better results. Even their standard response to the accuracy on penalties (we usually grade out at 95% or higher when reviewing penalties that are assessed) does not even factor in why they appear in certain games to have two different rule books when calling those penalties. Sure Teller held, but calling holds on interior linemen, if consistent, could take up most of the game. That is my beef with NFL officiating, and I believe they often do let personal bias get in the way. A well officiated game to me is where they don't take over the game by throwing so many flags it is unwatchable, AND the types of calls seem to be applied consistently for both teams, NOT evaluating whether a particular call was accurate by the letter of the law - so to speak. Jerry better have his head on a swivel, because he isn't going to get any calls to go his way, and a crackback-block against him may not have any repercussions for the offending team next game.

I have seen it several times, usually because I was either watching the rush or because the guys in the booth capture Jerry uselessly pleading his case to the refs and they do the viewer a solid and show the replay. It really happens, and there does seem to be another standard for holds that applies to Jerry. I don't know if Jerry gave up on complaining (small wonder), or if it was happening so much that they just stopped showing the replays, but it does not get the same level of attention it has gotten in previous years particularly when he was chasing down sack records and such. Still happens just about every play where he beats a guy on the outside rush, or on the interior twist and swim moves that catch a lot of guards in bad position (not just Teller). But yeah, I would like to see more of the defensive plays on the All-22 review, but they have mostly focused on Josh - for good reason. And beggars can't be choosers.

Was going for gallows humor a bit, but in all seriousness I was thinking along the same lines you were. With guys bearing down on you with a vengeance, and you are on the move to your left, and you buy just enough time to get a pass off, I have to think that better mechanics are a luxury. The fact that Josh felt he could have gotten more on that throw if it hadn't left his hand funny is hard for me to process. Just how strong is this kid's arm?

I think if Allen had taken the time to set his feet properly then throw, one Miami defender would have speared him in the nuts at the same time another ripped his head off his shoulders for making them all look so silly as he ran circles around them. The refs of course would throw a flag, but our brief hope for justice would be crushed as they call a hold against the Bills' RT 30 yds away from the play. It really isn't too hard to imagine.

Zones seems to be turning the corner, but the Bills have struggled finding good receivers for years. Even as talented as Watson was, he was Mr. Glass and hurt all the time. The Bills FO should just admit defeat, and pay someone to get a look at Green Bay's or the Vikings WR draft board - they seem to have a clue about how to go about it.

I saw someone else mentioning that he gives up when beat by a tackle. I have watched Jerry a lot too and although every player gets winded, I would have to say that catching Jerry loafing it out there is the exception not the norm. Some folks may think he's giving up on the pass rush when it may be situations where Hughes is coached not to be undisciplined and get so high on his rush against an o-lineman that has good position/leverage that he loses contain - especially against a QB with some wheels.

Don't get me wrong I like Julio, when he is on the field he is all the things we hoped KB would be... tall receiver, fast, wide catch radius, great hands, and fearless. I just would not want to break the bank on him.

I think Julio will have a few more productive years, and when on the field he is a talent, but I have to agree with you Phil - there seem to be no lack of GMs willing to overspend on used goods and the Bills FO will not get into a bidding war for Jones. That, and when I think of Jones (and all the times I had him on my FF team) he always seems to be injured, playing with an injury, or coming off an injury - turf-toe, calf, ankle....and that isn't going to get better with age.

Probably some kind of McDermott KB private pep-talk before the Miami game that went like, "if you give up or loaf on one more route, or alligator-arm one more pass you chicken-s##t, you're out of here."

They screw up about every play so not too sure there would be much of a game left...just a coin toss - oh no!
