Jets may also be shopping Q Williams.

Agree there is more to that stat. We are stopping the run by committing more men to the box, which leaves Taron and other not-so-good-at-coverage guys on an island. So guys are running free all over the place. Because we do not have that 1 tech impact DL player, we are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Our team may be able to do some things schematically to help with this, but an impact DLineman would make it a lot easier to solve these issues. -

Tongue and cheek reference only maybe elluding to an idea that we fans are everywhere hidden in plain site and it was almost criminal to keep rooting for the team. Not exactly Cosa nostra material. Either way, you cannot deny it has stuck. -

Not entirely unexpected if you think about how business and marketing works. My son had the chance with a school program to talk with the CEO of Buffalo Wild Wings (not sure which one), and he enjoyed a story that he/she relayed of how for years Buffalo Wild Wings HQ fought the urban dictionary slang "B Dubs" that had stuck for their franchises. They set about purging references, creating internal policies forbidding its use, and correcting internal and external references using it until one day the light bulb finally flickered on and someone said, "why don't we just go with the flow and use it". It worked of course, and was a very successful marketing tool - all restaurants are suffering now, but that is not the point. I am sure the butterfly kicked someone at OBD in the head with how the reference has taken off and has ubiquitous use throughout the media and they have made the move to officially embrace it. Certainly interesting to see how this plays out, but if you look beyond the fear and fuss I think you also see an organization that is trying to stay in tune with their fan base, and yes likely also looking to profit using it in some manner. -

This. We live in such a Tweet-driven reactionary society that folks need to be retrained to pump-the-brakes, wait for a reliable and comprehensive source to fully explain, .... then break out the pitchforks and torches. -
Is it time to admit Ryan Tannehill is pretty good?
WideNine replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure he's pretty good... against our zero-pressure front and practice squad secondary. He did hold the ball a bit long, but I think he was just overloaded trying to pick out the most open receiving option out of all the ones available to him. There. I admitted it. -
Maybe wearing blue just makes you look thinner? Will have to ask my wife the next time I wear my Bills gear. 😁

This is my thought too. A lot of these players just need to be in the right environment to grow. Much like Jordan Phillips under Gase in Miami the man has a gift for draining motivation from his players. We need another impact interior player next to Oliver and no one has really separated themselves on our current roster. -

There has to be a baseline of talent to work with, but yeah get them in a scheme that fits their skills and no doubt they can be successful. -
After a Big Bills Loss - Do You Avoid Internet/Media?

That is the best time to cruise the board....everyone is in a hostile cannibalistic fan mode. Most of the team and coaches are virtually fired, positive comments are quickly beat down, the sky is falling and we are going to be lucky just to win another game. -
Honestly, it is like they put the dude on a tofu and kale diet. We need strong guys on our d line that can shed blocks or bull rush and take good angles to make a play not track stars.

Chris rocks. I love how he breaks down the NE defensive philosophy and how it really disguises coverage and how defensive players are coached to have specific defensive options for dropping, spying, or blitzing depending on the progression of the play by the offense. Those defenses are not reacting to offensive pre-snap hard counts or motions to give anything away even though the Titans incorporated a lot of movement (fake blitzes, fake dropping back, 7 or 8 men in the box then dropping back into zones, to a large degree those were mostly just window-dressing. They are going to execute a very specific coverage for their back end zone with 3-to-4 down linemen up front with some effective variable-role defensive spy/pressures just behind the line within 5 yards. As Chris pointed out, they were able to do this effectively because we did not have the running game to actually force Tennessee into having to commit resources to the box to counter the run. On the flip side, Buffalo had to do this to counter Henry, which left the likes of Taron Johnson in man coverage which is a match-up the Titans take all day. We were taken to school by a variation NE defense and it will be a very good teaching moment for this team to figure out how to counter when we get some better pieces to our offense and defense and key players healthy again.

I actually felt more at home with the doubters and haters. Kind of like Charlie Brown waking up from a dream where Lucy was holding the football and he was nailing the kicks, to familiar reality where the ball is yanked away. I again felt the warm blanket of uncertainty about my team's future cover me and was left wondering when Sully would make an appearance to tuck me in. -
Maybe another before and after pic...are the Bills trying to save on groceries. Feed that man a steak.

I think rule #1 in "The Process" handbook, is never say anything of substance in pressers. There were a couple of specific things that I know were bugging McDermott because he kept saying I have to look at the film, but I know what I am going to see....he was close because he was pissed, but you could see him put a lid on it. I seriously doubt we will ever see a McDermott rant like some of the all time favorite rants.

There were definitely all around discipline issues. Pre-snap penalties, and responsibility discipline. Our ends have been feeling the pressure to create more QB hits and pressure, but they cannot sacrifice the depth of their rush and outside contain to get there. If they were more disciplined last night, I felt that our interior was creating enough push (at times) to flush Tannehill off his spot to the left or mainly to the right, but no one was home to get a hand on him or contain the edge so he could not scramble up field. I am sure McD saw this. I am less mad with Norman drawing the ticky-tacky PI calls. I felt that AJ Brown was using his size and was pushing off quite a bit at his breaks and because it was Brown, Norman kept getting the calls. There was a much more blatant hold on Davis coming wide open on a crossing route in the deep middle of the field where the Titan DB missed him, was a step behind so he grabbed him at the waist and was pulling back on him so he was not in position to complete the reception and we got nothing. Was not a good night for balanced officiating, but we had plenty of unforced issues too. Some games you have to play a bit sharper if the calls and the bounces are not going your way and last night was not the game to be out of sync and undisciplined.

Be interesting to see what the Titans were doing against the run. They have been terrible against the run and were usually using a 4 man front. We should have had more daylight, but they were able to cut behind our blocks and were into Singletary's legs before he hit the gap. This was especially true on the left side with Ford and Dawkins. Pass pro was fine over there, but they looked confused run-blocking. Game planning-wise, they had our running plays well diagnosed, and had effective means of countering them. I don't place that all on Singletary. Our run blocking and run play calling needs to be better.

Josh Allen - week FIVE report card
WideNine replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen was off most of the game....he was zipping passes with little touch behind receivers, he was pressing and impatient when the Titans took away the deep stuff and made him dink and dunk down the field. To be successful with that, Allen needed to be sharp and patient, and the Bills offense as a whole needed to play sharp; They were a hot mess of penalties. Allen - solid C this game. He regressed in some ways and I think he knows that this is the blue print that teams are going to use against him. Forcing the patience and consistent execution of a game played behind the sticks, when the deep zones are well defended. To be fair, this also forces the Bills offense as a whole to prove they can execute play after play without shooting themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers. Diggs was a beast. Beasley was not too shabby either. I know it is not exactly true, but I always feel that Knox has one good catch, and then one crucial missed catch. I am leaning more towards giving Kroft the starting slot on the depth chart, he has been a more reliable target for Allen when he has been the featured TE. Let Knox work with the jugs machine for a few weeks. -

The Titans came to play and the Bills missed the bus. We have a defense this year that is really bad, cannot get off the field, rarely forces punts...just a sieve. If the offense isn't clicking and turning the ball over, this is the net effect - a beat down. They need some retooling this offseason, hoping they can patch some of the holes in the interim. With Star, Lawson, Phillips, and Lorax gone...they just don't have the horses up front. Throw in Milano and Edmunds injuries and White's play has been off since he got paid and this unit is bad. I don't see that leadership or steady hand on the tiller. Oliver has not lived up to his draft position and Edmunds is lost in the middle. -
