  1. Well I do believe there is often a common thread between most paramilitary organizations and some paranoid belief system even if they consider themselves far removed from the New Black Panthers, Neo-Nazi, or just Boogaloo anarchist looking to burn it all down. Many I have spoken with there were a few even at my workplace tend to live in their social media fed QAnon conspiracy world and I think they fantasized about donning their Spectra body armor and assault weapons and saving the day. Misguided would be my label, rather than racist. I've spent time on ranges and have fired just about every kind of gun out there save a few, and I own guns for hunting, but I have never found the pressing need to own assault weapons and body armor. Or to drive to a protest and bring guns into the mix. When I lived near the Dakotas I knew a few ranchers that had ARs, but they legit used them for taking out gophers and coyotes. Most quote their 2nd ammendment rights, but do not understand the the first thing about the landmark Supreme Court Heller case and have never bothered to read the majority opinion written by Scalia and his views regarding common sense gun control laws, or that paramilitary groups are not actually what was meant by a well-regulated militia. https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2020-09-22/the-problem-with-militias-and-the-constitution
  2. Props - you got me. Yep, folks are pretty amped up here. Now I am not going to go to my local chapter of para-military white supremacist and go intimidate would be Biden voters, but if it is heckling the "Make America Hate Again" folks in a public forum - sign me up.
  3. Your trolling me dude I guess if dodging drafts and taxes, while fending off lawsuits for rape and hush-money payments qualifies someone as a hero... the bar has sunk well below swamp level.
  4. I am sure I have irked a number of Trump supporters here, and I am not looking to antagonize you folks in this thread - just a poll to gauge interest in the upcoming debate. My point is that I rarely see anyone who is really on the fence. Either you hate Donald, and you would vote for a turnip if that was the only thing on the other side of the ballot, or you are firmly in camp Trump. These debates and all the bickering about the rules around them to me seem like a wasted media side show, but perhaps there is some value in trying to find a format that may work in the future.
  5. Because that's what we need, another 4 years of unhinged antics from a President more concerned with his Twitter following and escaping convictions for felonies and cooking the books than actually doing his job. And who can forget his amazing leadership display filling the revolving-door voids in his cabinet of would-be swamp creatures. Have we not seen a regular cycle of gushing about his next newest potential sycophant as he pisses on the last person he gushed about. All those former staffers who end up exiting after finding that Trump is an intractable, incompetent, orange boob who expects superhuman efforts from his staff members to cover for all his stupidity. "Oh crap, he just told people to bleach their insides.... how the heck do we spin that to make him sound less like the complete moron he actually is?" https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/02/dumb-as-a-rock-9-times-trump-insulted-people-he-appointed.html Trump should bless God that he is supported by such clueless masses that do not realize that the one person Trump should fire for being incompetent is himself.
  6. I have to see a win over Belichick before I tick anything off in that column. That being said, the few times the Bills did beat the goat over the past decades were times he did not have Brady behind center. Or the one time that Wrecks lured a player of theirs away early in the season to learn everything he could about their team - of course they came back later in the season and gave Ryan a clinic on how to receive a proper spanking. We will see, the goat was the master of that original 2-deep shell defense with some man mixed in that gave Allen fits and took away what he does best which is extending plays and pushing the ball past the sticks. Teams have just been putting their own twists on it since, but it has been effective in forcing the kind of game we saw against the Titans and KC where patience and a high level of execution behind the sticks is required to get the win. Turnovers, field position, and running against that defense while being able to stop the run are the keys to TOP and winning. I don't think there are going to be a lot of deep opportunities where a receiver is not bracketed by two defenders. Not sure how you get defenses out of that other than being able to gash them behind the sticks. I was kind of enjoying the "air Bills" offense, but defenses have adapted well. Maybe Daboll can figure out how to flood those deep zones to free someone up, but against teams that can also play man against your best receiver those flood concept options become limited.
  7. His style of running is a better fit against the type of 2-deep shell w/spy kind of defenses the Bills have been seeing. Our line has been unable to sustain their run blocks and have lacked leverage and finish the past few games, but there usually is a small gap of daylight early when they first get into a defender. This is where a back that just hits his assigned gap quickly and tries to break through the line, then make guys miss is an asset. I like them both on the field as their styles of running would be complimentary, but agree that having Yeldon in the backfield may make defenses rethink keeping both safeties deep, or they may swap one for an extra backer - that could open up options deep for Allen.
  8. I would like to say that Bobby Johnson has not been up to the task, but I think that is throwing the baby out with the bath water. I think it is talent. Is it any wonder that the highest performing and highest graded offensive linemen on our squad are Morse and Dawkins? It is because OBD invested in that talent to either bring that talent in, or to develop and retain it via extension. They are not cheap resources. Now for the rest, I think they felt that if Ford lived up to their draft assessment of his capabilities that they would have 3 key, high-level players on their line and that would be enough to allow them to fill in the remaining gaps with serviceable journeyman talent. Ford has not panned out (yet). Not at RT, or RG, or at LG and it mostly comes down to moving his feet. You look at the tape with Ford and you will see a guy whose upper-body is often lunging trying to reach for defensive linemen, this leaves him off-balance, in awkward positions, and with little leverage because his feet are not under his upper body and he is not resetting quickly enough to get into his blocks. If your feet are glued to the turf and you are lunging with your upper body to make your blocks then you are also more likely to sustain injuries. He also seems to be struggling understanding protections, and picking up blitzes. Some of this could be the coaching staff having him play different positions, but would not explain his regression at LG. It may be that he is still trying to process protections and is not able to anticipate his angles and leverage as these things work together. My take regarding his slow resetting of his feet may have more to do with his late processing of where he needs to be and the angle he needs to take to have good leverage... as with most things it is likely a bit of both. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid and he is working his butt off, but he is not there yet with the fundamentals and I think that he is going to be more of a project than the staff at OBD envisioned. If Feliciano comes back and plays at a high enough level we should see some improvement along the whole line. Ike seems to be well liked here on The Wall, but honestly I have not watched enough tape of his play to say one way or another how he will perform. O-line play, despite Mitch Morse being very PC about just doing your 1/11 job regardless of who is next to you, is probably the most codependent group on the team. They have to work as a unit understanding and processing protections and their run blocking assignments. If you trust the guy next to you to do his job, you can focus on your own. Even if 4 guys are on the same page and one guy isn't, you can end up with 5 guys looking back at your RB stuffed 4 yards behind the LOS, or deciding who will help Allen up off the turf.
  9. He's not a 1-tech, and he is not the answer there, but he played with a lot intensity and did not do a terrible job splitting the center and guard on some plays that helped disrupt the backfield. When trying to take on those double teams, he is just going to have to stay square to the line and drop his knee and try to create a log jam. This is a line that needs an infusion of a talented big-bodied run-stuffing anchor someday. Dareus really screwed over this org by collecting his money, a six year 108 million with a 65 million in guarantees and a 25 million dollar signing bonus then promptly checking out. He could have been that key piece if he had the competitive heart to play the game and some pride in his job. Star has been decent filling in as he could stand his ground. Dareus in prime shape would have given a double-team all it could handle.
  10. Nice. Props for the entertaining prose. Captured my sentiments about the defense very well. Our defense reminds me of the stories that circulated regarding that bridge collapse in MN a few years back. Apparently the bridge design was a French design that was incredibly strong, but did not incorporate redundant support material. It was desirable because it was cheaper to build, and as long as it was maintained, it was up to the task; However, if one piece failed it would come down like a house of cards - as we know, a piece did fail and the bridge collapsed. If I were to point out anything about McD's defense, it is that it seems to be very dependent on key roles that may or may not fit his current personnel. That is a growth area for he and Frazier to tackle at this stage. How do they mold their defense to better fit the strengths of the guys they can actually suit up on Sunday, and once put in a position where they can succeed, motivate them to execute better? We will see the truth of McD's "growth-mindset" in how it applies to the Bills' coaching staff as it is being put to a serious test this season.
  11. This. Reminds me a lot of how the Dareus issue was handled, all behind the scenes and kept close the the vest. Turned out there were very real issues and it made sense to move on, but of course we all kind of want to know what happened - we love the dirty laundry. This to me is part of the culture change that McBeane is trying to create. One that even if players screw up OR if there are irreconcilable differences, they are not going to go out of their way to leak stories or sour the waters. Players can move on and find another team to play for. If you think about it, it is a much better and professional lens for the organization going from the way Russ and Whaley ran things. They may as well have employed news paper folks in OBD with how many leaks there were in the ship. It fostered the view of a very unprofessional and Jerry Springer-like organization in chaos. Either way, I wish Spain well... he was a Buffalo Bill and helped get us into playoff contention last year.
  12. Carter Page... Probably because his actions, regardless of his past affiliations, were questionable in the eyes of most folks in the Intelligence field. The dossier said that there were plans in play to offer a 19% stake in Rosneft one of Russia's state-owned oil/gas companies as a bribe to get sanctions lifted. Carter met with that same company and not long after a 19% stake of the company was sold to a private party and the money funneled to an account hidden behind multiple shell companies. That was pretty good inside info. As soon as Trump took office efforts were made by his administration to lift the sanctions against Russia, oddly with no concessions from Russia. Both sides of the isle in Congress rushed to block those efforts. Within days after the inauguration, new Trump administration officials ordered State Department staffers to develop proposals for immediately revoking the economic and other sanctions.[293] One retired diplomat later said, "What was troubling about these stories is that suddenly I was hearing that we were preparing to rescind sanctions in exchange for, well, nothing."[294] The staffers alerted Congressional allies who took steps to codify the sanctions into law. The attempt to overturn the sanctions was abandoned after Flynn's conversation was revealed and Flynn resigned.[293][177] In August 2017, Congress passed a bipartisan bill to impose new sanctions on Russia. Trump reluctantly signed the bill, but then refused to implement it.[29 The dossier did not have to be smoking tablets from God to peak the interests of our FBI. There was enough credible info there to warrant a follow-up. Lawfare did a pretty objective review of the dossier too. https://www.lawfareblog.com/steele-dossier-retrospective
  13. Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steele_dossier If you can prove that you know what you think you know, the good folks at Wikipedia will update the facts to fit the better info you can provide; otherwise you are just parroting Trump's "witch hunt" nonsense. You can suggest your improvements via their "Talk" pages Each article also has a "Talk" page, where you can suggest improvements and corrections to the article.
  14. I believe last night I saw Zimmer shading the center so yeah he was playing at least some 1-tech and was getting moved, but the problems were off to the right side of the defensive line. It was the same hole all night that KC was hitting for positive runs over and over. At some point later in the 3rd and 4th Frazier figured something out or guys were just tired of getting rolled as they started to close that hole and force the RB to try to bounce it back inside or against the grain where pursuit could clean up. Much more gang tackling towards the end too as I mentioned in prior posts that we all were probably tired of seeing the guys up front just stick an arm out, or swat at the ball. Defensive players were actually getting in front of the runner, breaking down and wrapping up waiting for help. Those efforts were largely pissed away by poor 3rd and long defense and bad penalties.
  15. I don't think Allen is 100% out there and it is true that he and Daboll are struggling to unravel the defenses being thrown at them. Last week against the Titans they made almost as many yards as Tennesee, but it did not feel like it. Turnovers were key - 3 of them and the Titans scoring on every possession. The field being tilted due to poor ST play made the game more lopsided than it should have been... either way, our offense was not prepared to march it down the field without a running game to speak of. Allen is not Brees in his prime living off of dump passes, he needs a complimentary running game to take some of the pressure off and stay out of the 3rd and forever situations. Today he was not sharp either, but he also did not get a lot of time on the field to get into any kind of a rhythm. A lot of grief about the 4-1 keeper, but I feel like it was more indicative of the issue of a defender blowing by Ford untouched when Moss had an easy 3rd and 1 to pick up before that play. Ford blocks his guy we make the first down instead he lets the run blitz come free and doubles on the guy Dawkins had handled. I cannot believe how hard it is for this line to get into a defender and move him. Too many freaking ole' blocks out there for my taste - my patience with Ford groweth thin... and I know he is hurt and I don't wish him any ill. TOP This week: KC: 37:45 Buf: 22:15 KC had possession of the ball for 2 quarters and 7:45 minutes Buf had possession of the ball for 1 quarter and 7:15 min The backhanded good news is we can put all that MVP talk for Allen behind us and he can just focus on getting healthy and putting up some better plays on the field. Daboll as an HC looks less like a going concern as well as his offenses have been punched in the nose two weeks running.
  16. I think we need to look at the all-22 first to see what transpired. In the past I would often see our TE's (and I am including Knox here) release late out to the flat as safety valves for Allen with no one near them, wagging their hands in the air, but he rarely goes to that throw in his progressions unless flushed out of the pocket with no time to look elsewhere. When Knox or Kroft were asked to run deeper post and crossing routes against defenses, they got the looks and the chances. I don't think that was coincidence; I think that is where Allen's initial reads takes his eyes. I think leveraging our TEs may have more to do with Allen just not checking down to them very often when that is how Daboll draws up their route. TEs have to get the ball thrown to them to do something with it.
  17. Yep. And Klien made some nice stops later in the game when the DL and LBs stopped just batting at the ball as guys blew by them and remembered the concept of the 1st guy wraps up and the rest swarm there in a hurry to gang tackle. When that offensive player is wrapped up and stood up and is fighting for extra yards, that's when that second wave of defenders can come in and punch at the ball. One silver lining to your starters being injured or sucking, is that other guys on the roster get a chance to fill in and maybe you find a few gems buried on your depth chart.
  18. He's been a bit shakey since the shoulder ding, and has gone up against NE styled defenses that definitely seem to throw him off his game... If there is just a half-second hesitation it is all it takes for a completion to become a miss, or an open window to close. A complimentary running game of any sort would be helpful as teams are not even trying to bite on play action or bring their safeties up to the line. We suck that bad just moving guys with our line. I do think with the way the defense has been playing, that Allen is struggling mentally with the idea of carrying this team He is not ready yet, but I did not see the panic dumb-mistakes "bad" Allen with no-look laterals surface. Sure he chucked one up for grabs near the end, but the game was over and just waiting on the fat lady at that point. There is a gap between us and the best teams in the league. We know what that looks like now.
  19. I actually thought Zimmer brought a bit of missing attitude to the group. I will give him props for hustle too. Saw him chasing a shallow drag route 15 yards down field from his DT position. We will see if some guys earned more playing time and if others are going to have to think while riding the pine. McD always said he would play the best players, there are times you just have to look at those guys who may have been drafted high, or paid as free agents and ask yourself if they are earning their spot. If not, let some guy on the scout team who is hungry take some starting snaps.
  20. I know, contain on the edges and having that guy who can quickly come up on the QB just seems to be lacking this year. You are right about Tannehill he was high-stepping into the end zone and that irked me. The thing that just had me blowing my top is when Mahomes got to the sideline and stopped and spun in a circle with a crowd of Bills defenders around him and no one put a hit on him. In fact he picked up almost 5 yards after that little dance. My theory is that they got "the business" from their coach on the sideline after that for their lack of follow-through which probably directly led to our players tossing guys into the benches after they went out of bounds on the next KC drive. Queue the circus music.
  21. Mahomes certainly completed some passes with their scramble drill, but I don't think the Bills were giving him a lot of deep opportunities. McD bet on our weak front-4 being able to contain their running game without dedicating too much of our secondary resources to the task. He even activated two guys who are more run stuffers. Yet, that bet did not pay out - especially against whatever KC was doing on the left side of their line as they were owning us on runs to that side.
  22. Thanks for piling on dude
  23. Few here understood his role in this defense - unless they watched the All-22 or other sources that broke down plays. He has been missed.
  24. Those were some uncharacteristically dumb penalties for White and Hyde. Shows a level of frustration from our leaders in the secondary having to come up all game long and try to mop up for the front guys getting torched on every run. But they chose a really bad time to double-down on the dumb. That is when we needed a stop, not free 1st downs with 15 yards tacked on.
