  1. Thanks - android phone auto-suggests... Fixed Blackbird - awesome song.
  2. They do however call the hands to the face penalties as Oliver drew one of those on a critical 3rd down stop. It was legit, but happens on just about every other defensive snap Hughes takes and (insert cricket noises). Either way, if this leads to less flags and is applied equally to both o-lines I don't mind.

  4. My thoughts exactly. Our defense owned them through the 1st half, and they made some adjustments and found a way to mount a late comeback. One could argue they lost the game not on the fumble during their last drive, but rather on the failed onside kick and short field they gave us that we were able to turn into points. We are playing most of our depth and elevated PS players on defense and across the offensive line so I do not want to hear how patchwork NE is. Chris is not often wrong and he had predicted a NE win, perhaps it is a bit tough for him to eat crow and admit the Bills were able to both stop the run (in the first half) and run all over NE for most of the game. We are all wrong from time to time and it does not mean that the Bills do not still have issues - 3rd down defense is still cringe-worthy, but all these depth guys are getting a lot of playing time and that is never a bad thing if we get some of the starters back. I think we have too much money tied up in a defensive front with too many edge rushers and 3-technique DTs. We need enough effective 1-tech DTs to rotate in fresh and able to hold up to double-teams and get some push or teams will just run over us. What good is it to have pass rushers if you cannot force teams to pass, or commit enough players to coverage to be effective? I am sure Beane and McD had these boxes checked off with Star, Phillips coming back, and Zimmer in the wings. But Zimmer has been their most consistent option and he was hands on hips sucking air in that 4th quarter. The Bills need another 1-tech option to step up and effectively spell him. Freeing up some cap and focusing on filling this void should be an off season priority for OBD. Till then, if this team figures out one ugly way to win after the next with the players they can field, I will gladly take it.
  5. No, I don't think there are trust issues. Allen has thrown plenty of tight-window passes to Beasley, Diggs, Davis, and Brown and that will not likely change, but with teams fielding a lot of DBs in layers of zone to take away the mid-to-deep options we have to play them differently. We did the same thing to KC and Mahomes and it was not like he lit up the field passing - they ran against that look from our defense, and they were successful running - and they won. The passing game now is going to be Allen hitting receivers on late-release outlets/screens (TE's, and RB's) or quick slants, bubble screens, and come-back routes when there is just one DB or heavy nickle playing off of them before they are bracketed between DB's and safeties past the sticks. More time in the pocket is not really the issue, if anything, the ball has to come out sooner and decisively to hit those underneath options other than the draws/screens. The goal of forcing teams to defend the run is to also force them to abandon the 2-deep zones or go with a single high safety or Cover 0 with more run support behind the line, which would then give Allen the option to use play-action to freeze that one safety over top or get his receivers singled-up deep to beat man coverage. It is a more patient offensive plan that requires Allen and Daboll to work the run till they can force teams to give them those chances and take those shots when they are there. With more experience seeing those different flavors of zone or disguised zones I expect that Allen will eventually be able to exploit some of those 2 deep looks and find the open windows and deliver on time, but this was not one of those games. NE's defensive personnel leans towards solid pass rush and lock-down corners. For years their MO was to get ahead and/or load the box with guys who drop into coverage then force teams to throw into that. Why play into their strengths, especially in the midst of heavy winds and some rain? The game plan Daboll laid out was darn-near perfect for the conditions, and as it ate up yards and TOP, we did not expose our defense to defending as many snaps and they could stay fresh. I know we would all like to see wide-open receivers and Allen dropping dimes all over the field, but playing smart and winning is probably worth more than Allen flexing nuts and throwing into double-coverage and turning the ball over.
  6. Like it ran into an invisible wall. Allen eluded to the conditions on the field yesterday. Mentioned that on days like that you have to be able to run the ball. I saw that pass to Davis leave his hand then it almost looked like it was tipped by the wind. I am wondering the same thing...would like to see the replay. The Pats are not the Jets, and dont think Belichick's boy would stoop to targeting a player, but trust and verify as they say. Morse's concussions are not exactly a secret.
  7. Klein's instincts are not bad, he diagnoses plays and is in the area he is supposed to be. What he lacks is the athleticism to get there on time and in position to make the tackle. I would love to transplant his instincts into Edmunds brain....
  8. I absolutely appreciate the calm, smart, unselfish Allen playing behind center today. Even seeing the chemistry between he and Diggs after the route miscommunication was a great thing. This was a growth game even if it did not look like it to folks wanting to see the ball aired-out against a NE defense that is built to stop the pass.
  9. Belichick is still Belichick and he knows the AFC East teams as well as his own. I'll take the win. So many "poor" Bills teams have played "great" NE teams down to the wire, but always found a way to lose. Today we played them down to the wire and found a way to win. Enjoy a win for a few minutes...it's healthy.
  10. We had the right, patient game plan for this team with our suspect defense. We were a missed catch and a missed communication on a route away from pulling away. With this D it was a good game plan and a win is a win.
  11. Daboll for the most part called a great game and stuck with the run. He bailed on one when we were 4 yards away after the first run was stuffed....would have liked to see us not do that after every negative run. But overall a patient offensive plan for a suspect defense...it was the smart way to play this game.
  12. when we need our playmakers to step up, they fold on D.
  13. Not much time to get there...they are giving Newton quick slants and stuff beneath the sticks. At some point we gamble bringing the pressure and drop more into shallow coverage. Dicey...game.
  14. Need McD to call the d here. They have been bleeding out the past two NE possessions.
  15. this defensive front cannot play 4 quarters of football.
  16. they are not getting any push on the d-line again
  17. Wrap-up and gang tackle. The basics.
  18. not the empty...unless it works. Brilliant call
  19. Not sure...Moss seems like he is still getting back into game shape, but he also is a patient runner letting blocks setup. Nice change-up from Singletary
  20. Tackling fundamentals on this team have been a chronic issue that McD and Frazier have not addressed. For a coach that preaches fundamentals and execution it starts to sound hollow if it does not show up on the field.
  21. OK where is the wrapping and gang tackling? This defense the fundamentals keep getting lost. At some point coaching has to get questioned.
  22. Look at the NE o line tackling our dl man and nothing on that...
  23. NE is notorious for playing man with tons of holding that does not get called...an impeded route down here is a pick six we don't need.
  24. If by aggressive you mean keep running the ball, then yes.
