I was actually wondering that myself… Do they just go the UDFA route and bring as many as they can to bolster the numbers to 90 after the draft…? Dont really see much else in terms of active FA’s. Maybe a Safety?

Blackmon, Mike Edwards & K’Von Wallace are still available. Probably the best younger guys left. If it’s not the case what they’re after I think the other older guys who are available of; Eddie Jackson, Jayron Kearse and Marcus Maye wouldn’t be bad choices.

Probably the best scenario in terms of RB type and money. Enjoyed watching his moments for us lasts season. Let’s hope he gets some continued usage.

That was Daboll’s return to the NFL. Hardly anyone pegged him to have the success he did with Josh. Couple that with an OLine of Dawkins/Ducasse/Bodine/Miller/Mills, throwing to Kelvin Benjamin/Zay Jones/Robert Foster/Andre Holmes/Charles Clay… The only good thing on that roster was Shady and a developing LT in Dawkins… Who everyone continuously cried should be a guard… It worked out. If you believe that’s a measure of quality to develop perfectly under then you should have absolutely no qualms or grievances with what he’s working with now. Pat walked into: Hunt/Williams/Kelce/Hill/Chris Conley/Demarcus Robinson/Sammy Watkins, behind an OLine of Eric Fisher/Cam Irving/Mitch Morse/Wylie/Mitch Schwartz… all the while coached by Andy Reid, who had the credentials even with just the Chiefs: Playoffs 4 of his first 5 seasons there prior to Mahomes taking over. Compare the 2 and I’d say that absolutely is a ***** scenario to walk into. The counter point is what, that you stated, Josh had a pretty good defense? So did the Chiefs… The coaching staff did wonderful, no doubt but the struggle to get where we were in terms of roster quality, on field product and Josh’s development make it incomparable. Also, to add, Pat was a pretty polished QB coming out of college with accolades and records to boot… Josh was, what? A project? Even at that standard I’d go out on a limb and say Mahomie would have struggled. Daboll or not. 2¢

So the consensus is Oregon’s JPJ is an early rounder; 1st or 2nd. Then it’s either Frazier or Van Pran. Do they last until the 4th? Probably not. Also, it may not be the most demanding job on the Line but o would hardly call it the easiest as you pointed out it’s the mentally toughest. They make a lot of presnap calls for a QB and are a crucial component for the success of either guy on their sides. Theres a reason Centers and Tackles tend to be stalwarts and play for several years… With that said, how many talented guys who’ve succeeded at playing Center will be there in the later rounds? Who are you thinking? Drake Nugent? LSU’s Turner? With Harbaugh an ex-QB and knowing Linsey is in his 11th season, it wouldn’t surprise me if he takes the guy he knows extremely well in Nugent to be his replacement… especially as he’s on the penultimate year of that 5 year deal he signed. So who do you take?

Chop or the Mizzou kid? Id rather a WR like you and honestly wouldn’t care who it is as I’m sure they’ll have some high end talent we can utilize for Josh. Need to do something for both positions. I am a huge fan of Groot and like AJE but I am certainly not banking on them being an absolute game changing presence week in, week out. With that point, it is what it is if they choose a edge player… And personally, if it came down to that, would like Missouri’s Robinson.

I understand the thinking behind your post and every opinion should be explored and considered but there is no addition by subtraction… You have needs in the secondary and DLine. Arguably more in the secondary. The point you made was scrap a guy we gave up a decent draft pick for half a season later to allocate money to another guy on a position of need. You can make both work if you truly want to… If the situation with Tre wasn’t what it is; getting cut and often majorly injured, sure there would be room for a switch in financial assignment but you’ve still just wasted a third round pick. What’s the option? Trade him for another 3rd rounder? Doing that your secondary is, at it stands, Benford/Taron/Lewis/Rapp/Elam. DLine would be: AJE/Oliver/DQ/Armstead/Rousseau. You better be hoping and praying they show up every game to get pressure and disrupt things. Frankly, I can’t see that happening as much as solid coverage on the back-end giving a line of AJE/Oliver/DQ/Groot more time to get home. The only benefit Armstead really has would be to drop the possible necessity they fee to take a DLine man with their first 2 picks… But again, what do you do in the secondary? Douglas, imo, played very well for us after the trade. Certainly as beneficial to the team than a 3rd rounder might have.

I honestly wouldn’t be mad throwing 2 if not 3 first rounders for him… The Von contract should be off the books by the time it’s re-up time. On top of that, might be time to move on from Diggs. Would be ironic if we ended up getting the guy we, theoretically by draft pick, could have had instead of Diggs.

Believe the last talk was Tennessee and Philadelphia. I’m sure there are others.

It’s an absolute pipe dream but do they consider at least trying? I’m sure they will inquire if it’s accurate. More importantly, with that money KC just freed up do they trade this and next years first to sign JJ? 🤔🫠

I like Dane as player in a pinch and really hope the best for him as he grew up literally down the road from where I live but this might unfortunately turn into the Levi Wallace scenario where his success was more so the system he was playing in… Again, hope for the best as he had decent moments for us through the past 4 seasons. Ok. Overrated is probably a bit harsh. He has tons of talent, I agree. Underwhelming for the 7th overall pick is probably a bit more apt. Keenan Allen is still the guy there. If they’re cutting a WR of those two, you take him first as, like you said, it’ll probably be a pine year deal. Still don’t think you get either on a bargain price.

Again, I understand your thinking. I get it and it’s not wholly disagreeable. I see a guy who’s put up reasonable stats on nearly half the possible snaps he could have played over the course of 3 seasons. Is 23 years old. Solid against the run. Reasonable against the pass yet is still relatively raw to the game of football and the nuances that come with it. Repetition is the only way to get better. If he sees the field 75% of the snaps these next two years I firmly believe he is capable of 10 sacks… And to circle back to the original point and comparison, if an average player like Brian Burns is getting a deal of $150m it is reasonable to suggest a guy that is on less playing time with just as good stat lines to get a sizable contract given to him at 25 y/o.
