  1. Just think--the Steelers' highest draft choice received from the Raiders as part of the trade for the "best WR in football" was a 3rd round pick. Beane nailed that with Tyrod, a career journeyman who probably will never win you a playoff game if his NFL life depended on it. Just sayin'
  2. Wanted to pass these sentiments along, as well as the work being done at the state level to fix this travesty once and for all: https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/09/opinions/daylight-saving-time-yates/index.html
  3. By the looks of the upthread sentiments, today must be opposite day for you Mr. Vader.
  4. Let's add one Shawne Merriman...I had such high hopes for that pickup at the time, but just like Buddy, I was fooled by the 'roids assisted performances he'd turned in, which also made him a porcelain doll by the end of his Bills tenure on the injury report.
  5. I’m with the general gist here—couldn’t begin to name top 40 currently, haven’t been to the movies in ages, and mostly watch cooking shows or hgtv these days—of course, having young kids doesn’t lend itself to keeping up with all the latest in the first place, lol. But somehow I don’t think I’m missing all that much! And I’m with Augie, I’m still letting people on my lawn so it’s not an age thing (yet)
  6. It all comes down to the moves for landing Allen; nothing else on the list here will save his job if Allen flames out spectacularly, whereas Allen becoming our next Kelly will elevate him to the pantheon of Buffalo FO all-time great. It’s actually not fair to reduce it to this one factor, but I think it’s unavoidable, imo.
  7. The “Rex and Doug Show” literally from beginning to end, special guest star Rob Ryan not to be missed either.
  8. Big hair bands of the 80’s...crossover rock like “Stryper” had some skills here too! The “yellow and black attack” and “to hell with the devil” albums in particular I can recommend from this era.
  9. Ugghhh. As a parent to small children, it’s especially tough because bedtime needs to be adjusted, and figure on them getting up an hour earlier too, until their internal clocks adjust...not fun. When will this WW1 invention go the way of the Dodo bird?
  10. Lots of great ones already mentioned upthread, thanks! Just wanted to throw in some thumbs up for these authors: -Clive Cussler (if you’re looking for straight up entertaining escapism that’s filled with action and has no political overtones) -Tolkien of course, already mentioned -Louis L’Amour for Western genre -Jules Verne (way ahead of his time in sci-fi of his day) I’m also a big WW2 history nut, so I also enjoy bios written by 1st hand participants in particular. Couple of Favs: -Manstein, “Lost Victories” -Skorzeny, “My Commando Operations” (. A great behind the curtain look into WW2 special ops, which was a nascent thing at that time) -George Patton, “A Life from Beginning to End” -And gentlemen and gentle ladies, I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to our own Jim Kelly: “A playbook for Dads” and what should’ve been the Pulitzer Prize winner, “Armed & Dangerous”
  11. Le Batard handing out “trash” awards? LOL, What does that make Kiko & Co.?
  12. With all due respect, that’s absolutely not what was meant by my post. Do you really think that someone like me who came of age with the Kelly led Bills (my avatar I know is cryptic on this point) is fine with heroic marches” to 7-9?? Please. 13-3 is more my thing. What I will do however, is give deferential benefit of the doubt to the first regime in a friggin generation that got us into the playoffs and have at least a long term plan in place and a promising young franchise QB to boot. That said, I think we both want to see the same thing this year—big steps forward on O. How we get there? Reasonable people can agree to disagree, that’s part of the fun, right?
  13. Breaking the bank for a 31 year old with a Whaley-type long term contract & ton of guaranteed ?, who is one of the least “team oriented” divas we’ve ever seen? Yep, I’ll stick with the process happily as we move forward in FA and the draft. We will be just fine without him, mark it down. But again, they took a shot, can’t be mad at them either way.
  14. Meh, it’s all good. Would’ve probably ended up as a one year rental that couldn’t really be built around, more drama after the shine wears off than worthwhile. Nonetheless I applaud the Bills for kicking tires where they can.
  15. At bare minimum, launching the football in a celebratory arc out of the stadium end zone and into the TBD parking lots seems appropriate.
  16. My only quibble with your picks at this point would be flipping the Pit and last NYJ results, but other than that can’t really find a good enough reason (with nothing going on right now really) to say you’re off elsewhere. Wonder if we can sneak out a W finally against Brady at some point though??
  17. Always liked Trebek, this is very sad news. Wishing him a victory against the odds!
  18. Best: Star Trek II ("Wrath of Khan”) Worst: A Christmas Story 2
  19. -Orig. 24 w/ Kiefer Sutherland -Seinfeld -Seaquest -3rd Rock From the Sun
  20. I think it's safe to say that any shifting with the winds "bandwagoners" who jumped on in the 90's, jumped back off oh, I dunno, 17 or so years ago for bigger bandwagons elsewhere? Those of us still around who came of age during that fantastic run, have more than proven our loyalty bona fides by still being here a generation later, with nary more than a solitary playoff game to show for it! I believe the "4 Falls of Buffalo" and/or the ESPN 30 for 30 "From Elway to Marino" mentioned that "secretary flub" episode too?
  21. Kelly has often said himself that the last thing he expected was the hero’s welcome that he received when he did finally come back to Buffalo like the prodigal son—and the rest as they say is history. Personally I’m glad I was too young to have experienced the dash to Houston in any meaningful way, so that all of my football memories of him are basically from 90 onwards as a Bills fixture already. Also, I’d say he’s more than made up with the community by this point, and bleeds everything Buffalo.
