is an abomination and should be barred from public view. That is all. It's late...

As per usual, no? And to give credit where credit is due, our 8th WR had a great view of the missed tackle on that play, unfortunately he was playing FS at the time...

Bills preseason schedule re-airs

Maybe you could sell for family for a DirecTV dish or a DVR? Just a thought. -
How many TEs do we need on a given day? I think I'd rather go into Week 1 with only 1 fully functional TE than cut a guy we like to keep Massaquoi, or Anderson for a week. Anybody else rememebr the days when a TE with a bad thumb would wear a cast and go block anyway? Anybody think Mark Bavaro would miss a game because of a broken thumb? I miss that. Suck it up Derek, put on the foil and get in there and get in the OLBs way.

Speaking as an ex-pat (as many of us sadly are) I would love to have more coverage from the News or the D&C, particulalry on the day to day inside things that you would only expect a local reporter to have. We haven't gotten that for a long time from the News and I think in many ways that role has been filled by people like yourself as well as other (often less than reputable) bloggers. I know what I need to know about major stories from major media outlets such as the four lettered behemoth who cannot be named here. For the local pulse I come here. I can check the pulse of the fanbase in ten minutes as well as get my fill of gossip and rumors intermingled with some truth. In terms of the pre-seaosn game, does it burn me that there was pretty minimal coverage fromt he paper? Not really, because to me the guy at the paper has just as much creditbility as some of the good posters on here. We all know Jerry Sullivan is Chicken Little and we all wait for his column just to rip it apart, on TBD we all know that there are certain people who are constantly negative. It's not much different. We all watch the game and then kick around a conversation. Obviously there is a lot of chaff to sort through but once you know who to look for to read you can get a lot of really good analysis by people who have spent 5 or 10 times as much time watching and covering the team as the actual journalist. The dividing line between a journaist and a blogger is the truth, but when I can watch supposed journalists like Adam Schefter continue to offer a one sided view of the Jason Peters situation what difference does truth make? When we see people like Chris Mortensen continue to hammer the Bills organization long after it's become clear that he's just getting ridiculous (last years draft for example, also re: the CBA which Wilson turned out to be right about) how relevant is truth? The whole slant of national Bills media coverage changed after Donahoe got canned. Technically everything people like Schefter and Mort say is accurate but there's definietly spin attached and once you spin you become a blogger with a press pass to me.

9-year-old boy told he’s too good to pitch
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Nervous Guy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This was the case in the league I coached as well. There was a A league and a B league. The A was certainly more competitive and for better players but we had a couple of kids in the B who belonged in the A and vice versa. This problem is there will always be kids like that. Even if you swapped the 5 worst A leaguers for the 5 best B leaguers there'd still be 5 kids who would be mismatched and dominate. Not to mention that is kind of rough to tell a nine year old that he's been kicked off his team and sent to the equivalent of triple A in the middle of the year because he's not good enough. It's better for Jimmy to play over his head for a year and taste some failure and learn some lessons from that and fix than have an adult kill his dreams at age 9 because he wants Billy from down the street to save his Little League Season. Of course I've also seen recruitment in supposedly developmental leagues too. In the City of Philadelphia they don't have Little League, they have PAL and in that PAL league there are way more shenanigans with players and teams and finagling rosters, etc. For the record (and LAMPing), my all star team from the B league beat the All Star team from the A league in two different tournaments and of the 12 kids on my house league team 7 moved up to the A league the following year. A lot of the time Jimmy just needs a decent coach who will teach him rather than yell at him and a shot of confidence. Sometimes, however, Jimmy is a hopeless mess who really just needs to go play soccer -
Everything Metallica has made since they cut their hair and put on flannel is crap. That was absolutely inexcusable and they are dead to me.

McGahee was great at UM. Since he blew up his knee he was good, and his first year when he was stiff arming everything in sight he was very good. Unfortunately he's not going to be what he could have been and has reached his ceiling. Add to that the decline in his aggressvie play in his last few years in Buffalo and it looks like Willis is happy with where he's at and is now content to cash checks and procreate. He is an absolute medical marvel and I will never knock the work ethic it took for him to come back from that. However, that ethic seems to have left him since he "established" himself as back from injury. He has never run with the ferocity that he did that first year and without that he's an above average back with some baggage as opposed to an unmitigated beast of a man. That difference makes him replaceable.

He's also sure that his cut of Peters' money is much smaller if he can't figure out how to get him another singing bonus. Agents get their 3% off the top of bonus moneyin addition to anything else they get from the base salary, hence their consant motivation to renegotiate. Since the news regarding Peters' additional LT bonus has come out this looks even worse because that bonus was definetly going to be paid. Thus the Schefterized salary of 3.something million is a crock of poo. It's really over 5 million per and while that is less than his counterparts it is much closer to the ballpark. Jason, if you're reading this, Eugene Parker won't pay your fines your reimburse you for money lost by holding out. The person who has the most to gain is Eugene Parker and the person who hs the most to lose in terms of money, credibility and longer term earning prospects is you. If you hold out this year you've given away a year of salary, and a year of your career earning potential for nothing. The Bills will not budge and quite frnakly I think they'd let you sit on principle at this point. Ask yourself. Is it better to play this year and, make 5.something million dollars while working out a new big payday to begin next year and make another pro-bowl to add to your bargaining power or to sit, not get paid anything, and not even be any closer to being a FA, while looking like a complete a-hole in the process? We know what you want Jason, you want to do what Brain Westbrook did with the Eagles and have the Bills pay you the max raise possible under the CBA and still have your contract end in time for the anticipated uncapped year so you can really cash in for your last deal. That might happen, but you hafta throw us a bone and show up for work. Hell, we're not even sure if you're healthy or weigh 600lbs. What reasonable person would hand tens of millions of dollars to a person whom they haven't even seen in several months? C'Mon, seriously Jason. The BIlls will do right by you,a s they have done right by you in the past and have done right by other players by either paying them or letting them walk. The Bills could have franchised Nate Clements but they promised not to and they ddin't. He was able to walk and get his money. The Bills renegotiated your deal and paid you a bunch of money when you had done slihtly more than jack squat which was a pretty big risk. Sure, we saw your talent, but talent and a quarter makes you a phone call. None of us were SURE that it would work out. Fortunately it has and you've been handsomely paid for a UDFA. We all agree that compared to your breteren on the line you are underpaid and we'd like to see that amended. However, we need to see some commitment from you in order to discuss increasing our commitment to you an that includes coming in to work and honoring your current contract while we work on a new agreement. By not coming in your are showing us that making the playoffs is not that important to you and that makes us question even more whether we want to extend ourselves further for you. As you recall, you replaced a player who wasn't overly interested in football and we don't want to go down that road again. We're serious in our desire to have you as a happy, well paid part of our team, show us that you are serious about helping us win and not just helping yourself. Do yourself a favor, hire a new agent. Drew Rosenhaus gets his guys paid and he doesn't cost them money with holdouts and nonsense. (I never thought I'd say that - I feel dirty) Thank you for your time, now show up for work.

Chad Pennington named Fin's starter

Good thing they're playing inside this December. -
IIRC the helmets changed in 1984, which was Fergy's last year with Buffalo. I think Kelly was color blind as well. And while all the AFC East teams did have white helmets at one point in time in 1984 the Jets helmets were green so it wasn't all 5 at the same time. Prior to 1978, however, I believe that all the AFC East teams had white helmets.

Well Will James' body of work indicates that he's more reliable covering that 4th receiver right now than a rookie who hasn't played a game yet. MCKelvin might be great but he made a rookie mistake last night that turned into a 94 yd TD. Corner has been good but he's 5'9". All I'm saying is that rookies tend to make their share of catastrophic errors and the fewer of them you have on the field at one time the better. If James is complete crap then yes, dump him, but I don't think that's the case. Even if that were the case I would then want us to go find a vet to have for depth. IMO you can't go into a season with your #3, #4, and #5 corners either being rookies or hugely inexperienced and unproven and if you do those guys had better be ready to play yesterday because they will be tested early. If it makes me weird to be unnerved by that thought than so be it.

It comes in very small bottles?

Usually I'd agree with you but the way it stacks up w/o him is McGee and Greer witha rookie nickel and dime back with Youboty lurking in the weeds for a spot. I'm not really excited about throwing 2 rookies on the field against the 4 WR sets or having a rookie on the field all year in 3WR sets which is some ridiculous percentage of the plays these days. I'd rather dfind a way to keep 6 CBs so we've got an experienced guy to turn to in a pinch.

Wait, isn't that what we're supposed to do? I rememeber someone getting into an heated debate with me as to why Frank Reich should start over Jim Kelly. There are just things that are true of Bills fans, we love linebackers (especially high motor ones) and we think the back-up QB should be the starter no matter who it is. The Bills could have Bob Crane's corpse in camp as the #2 QB and there'd be a faction who wanted it to start because of it's quality work in the film room.

Demetrius Bell looked pretty good
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there's any justice in the world Karl Malone will get cleaned out, Demetrius Bell will be a HOF tackle, and Karl will have to come to HIM to ask for money. -
I think I think that we need at least one veteran back-up at the position. Youboty doesn't count.

Lori, surely you aren't referring to Carwell Gardner as a positve in any way shape or form. Jamie Mueller perhaps, Sam Gash definetly. I vividly recall screaming my 12 year old head off "Please God don't give it to Carwell!"
