  1. England v Spain at Wembley on Saturday. I've been so focused on our holiday and the NFL season starting I've totally forgotten about this. There's also an NFL exhibition/season start celebration on Piccadilly in London during the day. I'll have to consult the bank account to see if we can get down there for both of these events. Incidentally, Sky Sports have stopped showing live La Liga games. A new company called Eleven Sports have taken over the broadcast rights. It's online only and owned by the Leeds United owner. Left me in a proper quandary. Do I pay extra to watch La Liga knowing the money will go towards funding the club I have the least respect for in the world?!
  2. There was a small bar over the road from our hotel. It was a bar for the locals and they had the game on two large screens. I sat and had a few bottles of Estrella and my little boy enjoyed a coke. Father and son enjoying a game together. Perfect. Madrid won 4-1 too after going a goal down. My son is a big Luka Modric fan and got to see him come on late in the game.
  3. Sat here waiting for the Spanish season to start. We're heading to Majorca next week but the fixture list hasn't fallen kindly. Real Mallorca are playing away on the Saturday so we won't get to see a game. Looked at jumping on the ferry to Bareclona but it's just a bit too long a trip to justify it. We'll find a bar/restaurant to watch Real Madrid on the Sunday night though.
  4. 1. Chargers 2. Chiefs 3. Broncos 4. Raiders 2nd and 3rd places are the most debatable.
  5. How are The Killers viewed in the US? They're probably my favourite US band.
  6. I have GamePass. With it being pre-season I'll catch up with the game on Friday. I wouldn't stay up until 3am for a friendly being streamed.
  7. "See Edward Christian's other Tweets". I'll give them a miss. Cheers.
  8. A valid point. The best bands tend to come from the biggest sh*thole cities. Well, Manchester. ColdPlay make me want to masturbate with a cheese grater.
  9. I was 9 and starting to play and get into soccer in a big way. Liverpool were totally dominating the English game at the time. Back then the away team (no matter which club it was) winning 2-0 at Anfield was laughed at. If I remember rightly the game was played on a Friday night. Very rare in those days.
  10. I'm not an Arsenal fan but that moment...... The celebration when in the Anfield Road End when that went in were the best I've ever seen from a sport crowd. Ever. And won't be beaten due to ground regulations. Limbs everywhere.
  11. Oasis were what I consider "my band". Out of all the bands I mentioned in an earlier post Oasis were the one I listened to the most and bought all the albums. The first 2 albums were particularly good. I think the third was forced on them and the tracks sounded tired. After that the albums were ok with the odd good track on each. Liam keeps hinting at a re-union but Noel doesn't sound so keen. It would be interesting to see which other members would be included if they did re-form. I saw them live at City of Manchester stadium in 2005. Awesome gig.
  12. My teenage years were 1993 to 1999 so my musical outlook was influenced by the 90's music scene. Mainly the indie and Britpop genre. Oasis The Charlatans James Ocean Colour Scene Blur Manic Street Preachers The lost could go on but those bands and similar all formed a basis of my music tastes for the rest of my life.
  13. There isn't really any rivalry between France & England when it comes to soccer. Or in anything else in life for that matter.
  14. Excellent. The mood of the nation has lifted since Sunday. It shows the power of sport.
  15. To try and reduce the collusion between teams at the end of the group stage I.e if one game finishes before the other and the teams in the second game knew a draw would be enough for both teams to go through they'd probably play out a very, very drab affair. Of course in this day and age it's fairly easy to find out a soccer score but FIFA have to be seen doing the right thing and kicking the final group games off at the same time.
  16. Following your local team does have more meaning and you do feel more in common with those players. The lows do massively outweigh the highs unless you follow one of the top 5 Premier league teams. However, a World Cup win for England would mean a lot to more people and the whole nation would celebrate. How they would celebrate and for how long is a worry! ? As for international football, I used it to follow England and see some of the world I wouldn't get to see following my club side. I'm not as patriotic as I was 15-20 years ago but I'd shed a tear if England were to win.
  17. Without a doubt. Throw in the amount of money it's going to cost me helping my son complete his Panini sticker album it's going to be a long summer that year!
  18. I don't mind Germany as a nation and the Germans are very decent folk. Probably as culturally close to us Brits as any other nation really. The only thing that made me happy about them being knocked out early is they won't be the team knocking England out this time! I think the World Cup can be more competitive at the group stage if they were to invite the top 32 teams in terms of the FIFA rankings as opposed to teams qualifying via the regional tournaments. That would mean it would be even more overloaded with European and South American teams. You'll see more less competitive games when the competition goes to 48 teams.
  19. I hope England play as strong a team as possible tonight. Beat whatever team Belgium put out and move on to the next stage with confidence and swagger.
  20. That's a shame. Surely this is the game Germany come to life?
  21. As luck would have it, I'm working at home this afternoon and Germany v South Korea kicks off at 3pm. What are the chances of that?!
  22. I can't access the article as the WGR websites restricts users from outside the US. Please can somebody paste the article on here if possible? Thank you.
  23. Yes, nothing is guaranteed in group H at the moment. Although it will be by the time England and Belgium kick off. Of the 3 teams which can progress from H I'd prefer England to play Japan.
  24. Yes, it's definitely the game of that group although the fizz has been taken out of it a little with both sides being comfortably through top the last 16 already. Still, it'll be a decent yard stick to see where England actually are in their development.
