Still looking for a Lorax replacement and haven't done extensive looks into it yet. Stumbled across Derrick Barnes LB from Purdue. Maybe a 5th or later. Also special teams experience. Again, haven't done a lot of research on him yet... Hate to put another teams link and not really sure it's allowed by law here but a nice little write up I found.. https://steelersdepot.com/2021/03/2021-nfl-draft-player-profiles-purdue-lb-derrick-barnes/

Nice size, but gives me Marcel Darius vibes...😱 https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-scouting-report--idl-bobby-brown-iii

Said this in another post and I think it applies to this discussion as well. I still think the issue is the DT's not our MLB (or LB's in general). We had a top 5 defense 2 years ago with Hughes and Murphy on the ends and the same back 7 (same LB's). Only difference being Star and Phillips this past year. Oliver is as good as Phillip's (in my opinion) and AJ will be as good if not better than Murphy. So really the biggest change and I see was missing was Star. Again, I'm all for getting an edge rusher, but push from the middle and stopping the run would be my priority. Draft a CB or DE early but give me Shelvin or McNeill in rounds 2 or 3. Need a big guy in the middle of the line with some pass rush upside potential. Not just a big fattie. Hopefully Star is ready, but I don't want to have that as a missing piece again this year. We still have the same issue now as we had trying to beat the Pat***** for the last 20 years. Not enough push from the middle of the DL and having to use LB's to make up for it. OK. I'm done. Must be low blood sugar levels.😉. Carry on.

He's already 250lbs. Not sure he needs more beef. I think if they fix the DL and can improve on stopping the run without him, it would help. I like Edmund's but I agree with most, MLB is not the best use of his skills.

A couple below I would be interested in. Derrick Barnes - LB Purdue https://www.profootballnetwork.com/derrick-barnes-nfl-draft-player-profile-purdue-linebacker/ Chris Evan's- RB Michigan https://www.profootballnetwork.com/chris-evans-nfl-draft-player-profile-michigan-running-back/

I have questions on Philipps and I am not sure I would take him as our 1st round pick (or at all). Concussions and already retired once to pursue other life aspirations? I've said in other posts, we already have Morse in that program... Is he done if he gets another concussion? Would we really want to spend a first on Phillip's given his past? Seems like quite a risk to me...🤔

My rule is to use whatever spellcheck, Alexa or Google tell me to because it's not worth the arguement. 😂

Yes!!! I'd be good with that as well!!😉

This would be ideal...😁

Yup. Another Conference Call mock draft.😉 30. Traded w/GB for 62,92, 2022 2nd and 3rd. 61. C. Basham edge W Forest 62. P. Werner LB Ohio State 92. Trade w/KC for 94 and 136 93. Q. Meirnez OC Wiss. Whitewater 94. Trade w/ Bucs 94 & 161 for 95 and 2022 5th 95. T. Shelvin DT LSU 136. S. Wade S/BN Ohio State 174. B. St-Juste CB Minnesota 213. O. Griffin CB USC 236. C. Evans RB Michigan Maybe a little too much on defense, but that seems to be where our challenges are right now. Not too bad while also adding 2022 2nd and 3rd from GB and a 5th from TB.

Draft prospects not getting enough attention

I actually like Werner. Had him in my early mocks before we re-signed Milano. Can cover RB's and TE's. Hard hitting LB and has experience in all 3 lb spots from what I've read. -
Still not sold on a RB at 30, but, I'll keep an open mind for now. Was doing some reading and came across these 2 articles (many more out there). Sounds like we are not the only ones that ask the question, Which one is better? Just found them interesting coming from the outside... one from November and the other a little more recent. https://thegameday.com/6669/article/najee-harris-vs-travis-etienne-whos-2021-nfl-drafts-top-running-back/ https://www.profootballnetwork.com/najee-harris-travis-etienne-who-is-top-2021-rb1-nfl-draft/

TSW Mock Draft Bills Selection Poll - Round 1, Pick 30
LyndonvilleBill replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, we have issues with Morse and concussions, but we are ok with Phillip's? Doesn't make much sense...🤔. Still having a hard time with a RB in the 1st (but starting to warm up to it, keep talking and maybe I'll get there.😉). Najee possibly, just not sold on Etienne yet (ball security ?) Would rather go corner, but JOK is the only one left to choose in my opinion. Guess I'll go with JOK.🤔 -

Najee, also better blocker and better ball security. -

Not just teams, but fans. Don't get me wrong, I am all for winning now, but also planning for the future. One of the reasons why I really like what Beane did with FA. Truly allows for BPA and long term planning. -

I'm not thinking of him as a backup, but more of a rotational piece and replacement for Star next year. Honestly, I see anyone we draft this year as a rotational piece this year, other than CB or possibly OL. I just don't see any major holes. One can hope, but I am not sure a rookie is going to be better this year than what we already have.🤔 -
I like him but I've read he is not great against the run. I think that's more of what we need in a 1DT to rotate or take over for Star. A Run stuffer with pass rush up side. If one of my top 3 are not available.Tufele, McNeill and Shelvin, then I would look for him towards the end of the draft. Just my opinion/thoughts so really doesn't mean that much...😁
-
I think so as well. But from what I have seen on the mock sites both McNeill and Shelvin have dropped back about 10-15 spots in the last week. Maybe we'll get lucky and be able to get one of them in the 3rd...

Yeah. I have him as a mid to late 2. Not sure if he will last to 61, definitely not to 93. Maybe use a later round pick to move up a few spots from 61 to get him if needed. Not a fan of moving up, but I might here...🤔 -
With trades. 30. Traded for 44&75 Dallas 44. Traded for 54,127 and 2022 3rd. Also gave up 236 Colts 54. Alim McNeill DT NC State 61. Traded for 69&2022 4th Bengals 69. Traded for 77&118 also gave 161 75. J. Carman OT/G Clemson 77. Q Meinerz C Wisconsin 93. Dayo Odeyingbo Edge Vanderbilt 118. T. Tremble TE Notre Dame 127. D. Diablo S VTech 174. B. St-Juste CB Minnesota 213. C. Evan's RB Michigan Not a bad haul. Balanced 4 on offense and 4 on defense as well as added 2022 3rd from the Colts and 2022 4th from the Bengals. Dayo injured his Achilles, but with our FA's it gives him time to heal and get ready for next year. Could be good timing for us. Chris Evan's looks pretty good in the highlights., but had an academic suspension?
