Yep. Perhaps it'll prove to be an anomaly, but this year at least, it appears that Beane really favors the physical attributes and is willing to put his trust in the Bills staff to develop these guys. I saw at least a couple times plays where the RT in particular literally didn't block anybody. He just stood up out of his stance and looked around while guys ran past him untouched. Edit: Obviously it's natural since he's our guy now, but I'm glad to see people diving into his film and coming away more impressed than they expected to be. I've been high on him for two years now and while he wasn't my first choice, I was happy that we took him over Rosen. A lot of the things people are seeing as they go through the film now are the same things I noted when I was doing my own scouting. He's soooo much further along as a passer than EJ for example was when the Bills took him; that comparison was always nuts to me. I've long felt that the Cam Newton comparison is the closest for him. He'll be a better passer/rely more on his passing than Cam does IMO, and obviously he isn't as good a runner as Cam (but is still good in his own right), but I think stylistically speaking, they're very similar as passers and playmakers. And Allen doesn't have the off-field red flags that Newton had.

I'm with you on the first paragraph; I think he looked good against Nebraska until it got out of hand at the end. I hope the last sentence proves to be true, but that's a little strong for me; I do think he has that kind of potential if he puts it all together though.

I imagine that they'd be open to trading him (if I remember right, there were rumors that he was being shopped earlier in the offseason). Someone from that team's WR corps is going to shake loose. I'm hoping it's Ricardo Louis; he at least has the size and speed that Buffalo could use and he seems like a potential cut candidate. I'm kinda curious if Curtis Samuel is available. Panthers took him in the 2nd round last year but I remember reading earlier this offseason that people believe they've already moved on (which is obviously not a good sign, but beggars can't be choosers). Obviously Carolina and Buffalo have worked together in the past already.

Possibilities to add more weapons...

Jaelen Strong was cut this morning from Jacksonville. Big dude with good speed, I believe he was a Day 2 pick a couple years ago. -
Obviously it'll differ a little based on the book that you use, but the one I was looking at this morning is: Saquon: 8/5 Baker: 3/1 Allen: 8/1 Rosen: 10/1 Penny: 15/1 Guice: 18/1 Lamar: 20/1 Darnold: 20/1 Ronald Jones: 30/1 Sony Michel: 30/1

That's why I said "might". Dallas has three #3 WRs and then some question mark depth guys. Buffalo has Benjamin and then a bunch of depth guys. Really boils down to how much you like Benjamin. Yeah, they're also pretty terrible. I think Dallas, Washington, and Buffalo are the bottom 3 in whatever order you want. -

They might be the only team in the NFL with a worse receiving corp than Buffalo -
Interesting quote from MMQB, possibly in reference to Bills

Lance Zierlein was saying the morning of the draft that if Buffalo traded up to 2, it would be for Allen. -
I actually don't own any Bills jerseys and I won a bet with a friend of mine for a jersey, so I'm probably going to get an Allen one since I've been a fan of his dating back to last year.

Better than Ray Ray but I think Trey Quinn is better than both. I think Proehl can make the team though. really interesting that Buffalo didn’t address outside WR spots at all.

RD 6, 187 Ray-Ray McCloud - WR Clemson

He’s like a poor man’s Tavon. I wish I had faith that he’d be utilized for jet sweeps and screens but this feels like a guy that’ll be cut within the next 12 months. Pretty stunned that of all the WRs available, he was even on the radar much less the guy they took. edit: he’s not slow though. He definitely has some speed, but he isn’t a deep threat at all. -
He’ll be a good backup for whoever their QB of the future is

Just based on trying to accentuate Allen's strengths, I think (if Buffalo takes a WR tonight) they could end up targeting Dante Pettis, DaeShawn Hamilton, or James Washington. BR and Cover1 both did a good job of laying out some of the potential targets. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2018/4/24/17270390/2018-nfl-draft-buffalo-bills-pre-draft-visitor-connections-josh-rosen-sam-darnold-baker-mayfield https://www.cover1.net/bills-targets/

Wentz and Allen were basically identical statistically in college. Wentz went to a powerhouse school (relative to their level of play) whereas Allen went to a cellar dweller in the MWC and helped turn that program around. And then both went in the top 10 of the NFL Draft; I'd say they were both pretty successful.

It wouldn't surprise me if he starts week 1, but it's not my expectation either. I do expect him to be starting by the end of the year though.

I for one am shocked to hear that the Bills higher-ups like the player that the Bills traded up for.

That is so great lol

DCOrange's One and Only Mock Draft

My preferred QB was always Lamar. Allen was #3 on my list but I’ve believed all year that Allen and Darnold were the top 2 on the Bills board just based on what I thought McBeane valued.
