It's all perfectly defensible (though Brown is almost certainly overpaid even if he is pretty good). They turned Mack into multiple first round picks and more, and turned a 3rd and a 5th into arguably the best WR in the league and signed a good LT without giving up anything beyond the opportunity cost.

Report - Bills interested in Frank Gore, RB

I’d gladly release McCoy and Ivory and take Gore on the cheap instead. -

Gore would definitely cost more. He was the #11 rated RB in the league this season. -

Gore is actually still playing pretty solid ball. Might even be better than McCoy at this point. But this is hilarious considering how old the RB stable is already. -
Jameis has been pretty good throwing to Evans, Humphries, and Brate, but for whatever reason, he and DeSean just never got on the same page. Most of Jameis' passes to DeSean were not remotely catchable. Still, DeSean finished the year as the #25 ranked WR from PFF and his advanced numbers are all pretty good. Tampa had arguably the best receiving corps in the NFL this past season and DeSean was a part of that.

Bills official Top 30 pre-draft visits

I’m personally fine with Metcalf at 9 although I don’t think he’ll be BPA there. Beyond him, my preferred choice is Deebo Samuel or N’Keal Harry at 40 (Harry is probably a stretch there, but I wouldn’t take him at 9). I think he’s a really underrated WR prospect. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/video-content-stanleys-morgan-vertical-route-running

I actually like Isabella quite a bit; I just think a comparison to AB is pretty wild lol. Isabella would be on my list for the second WR Buffalo takes in the draft (I want them to take at least 2). I prefer Stanley Morgan and Tyre Brady, both of whom can probably be had later in the draft, but I think Isabella is a pretty good option once we get to the 3rd round or so.

Duke has been a backup his entire career and his contract gives him top 10-15 RB money in terms of cap hit. In what way is that a bad deal for him? He’s probably not worth the money. If Buffalo gets rid of McCoy, I’d be okay with Duke and a rookie but paying for both he and McCoy would be bad.

He will almost certainly be a pure slot guy in the NFL. A deep threat out of the slot, yes, but he almost certainly will never face press coverage like Antonio does.
-
Nobody else is going to mention the idea that a 3rd round slot WR can be an AB type player, who doesn’t even play in the slot and is one of the best WRs of all time?

I would offersheet Browns Rashard Higgins
DCOrange replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would be a fine pickup but you gotta remember we have to make an offer that Cleveland isn’t interested in. Would probably be a decent overpay plus giving up a pick. Idk if he’s really worth it. -
I'd be fine with it. Think Buffalo looks to address this spot in the draft instead though.

[Vague Title] What’s going on in Cleveland? Trade Rumors
DCOrange replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems like a pretty smart trade for both sides really. Zeitler and Will Hernandez (and Solder if god forbid he gets it back together) is a pretty solid nucleus for what has been a terrible OLine in the past. -
That's totally fair to not want him for those reasons, though I think he has far more agility than his combine tests where he slipped would suggest. He was definitely utilized as basically a two trick pony in college though, either running fly routes or comeback routes.

Metcalf was pretty productive before he had even turned 20 with 646 yards and 7 TDs as a redshirt freshman (the equivalent of an 860 yard/9 TD season in the NFL). His dominator rating (his proportion of yards/TDs compared to the team as a whole) was over 20%, which is considered the "breakout" point. His breakout age lines up with Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, and Josh Gordon. His final year, he was on pace for 1,275 yards and 11 TDs prior to his injury, which would have basically been on par with Calvin Johnson's final season and better than both Julio and Gordon. His overall dominator rating pales in comparison to Calvin (which might be the highest dominator rating ever), but it's in line with Julio and exceeds Josh Gordon. These are generally some of the best indicators of success in the NFL and he has checked all of those boxes. You can see how he compares to the rest of the draft class below:

It's not just tackle and guard for Jonah; some scouts believe he's best suited to play Center and I read somewhere that Alabama viewed him as a Center when they got him, but felt that putting him in as a tackle was the best way to utilize all of the talent that they had. Neither of these guys are my preferred options at #9, but if forced to choose, I think I'd lean towards Williams due to the versatility.

I highly, highly doubt Beane trades for Brown after putting out the statement he did. Also seems like he pretty much had to say something considering the legs that this grew. Acquiring a player of Brown's stature would be a seismic huge deal and if it was actually never close to happening, it was obviously best to put a statement out there rather than letting fans continue to frenzy.
-
I don't think that's really true to be honest. Buffalo needs multiple impact WRs this offseason and Brown was one option for a relatively cheap acquisition (in terms of what they give up). It would have allowed them to focus on other positions first and circle back to a WR in the 3rd-4th round range. Now they're back in desperation mode again.

Yeah, I can't think of any good reason why people would think Buffalo would be interested in a big name WR...

How can we not be all in on Metcalf now?
DCOrange replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's not really true; his stats are actually pretty much in line with all of the good prospects that he's been compared to; it's just clouded a bit because he got hurt (which is a legitimate concern, but you and I simply won't have access to the medical reports that Buffalo will have). Probably doesn't matter ultimately though; I don't think Metcalf will be available at #9 after the AB trade fell through. Teams will know that Buffalo wants a WR so if anyone is interested, they'll know to jump in front of Buffalo. -
In the very least, this showed Buffalo’s cards. Beane and McD have been trying to downplay their interest in a #1 WR. I don’t think that’s believable after this, which means teams that might be interested in DK Metcalf will probably try to trade up ahead of Buffalo/means if Buffalo does want Metcalf, they probably have to trade up at this point (which I would not be in favor of even if I like him a lot).
