  1. Yep. The pre draft fascination with him was weird. Not that different than Connor McDermott as a prospect.
  2. Yeah Miller blew up the combine. I not saying he's going to be terrible, there is upside, but he needs a ton of work.
  3. Those are all guys on rookie contracts. That's why they play. They are all going to be starters at this point as teams give them a shot. You have to go back a bit to see the terrible. You also have to try and fast forward and project how many of these guys will be around after their rookie contracts. Out of all of those guys Stanley, Ramczyk, and Nelson are elite players. Miller was also already replaced and moved to RT. Ifedi and Garnett are not good and Conklin is always hurt. Bolles is terrible and the Broncos regret the pick. Price was really bad for the Bengals and they are already regretting the pick and wishing they could have Bodine back. You just have to find the right guys and drafting guys high, who are not elite is a mistake.
  4. The only linemen I have really strong feelings for is Risner. If he is there at 40, I take him. Or if I need to trade up a bit I still take him. He is the perfect fit.
  5. Probably some bitter exec (Jets?) who missed out on guys because we were clever about how we structured deals.
  6. One thing I will say, as a middle school teacher, a lot of my kids love the Jets new look. Fashion sense among young teens these days is just terrible. But a lot of them love this look. So if Nike and the NFL are trying to appeal to younger people who get their parents to waste money on jerseys for them, then they are getting the job done. It's the same reason WWE shoved Cena down people's throats, despite the fact that most fans hated him, they want to sell shirts to young people who like to waste their money.
  7. They should have went with those Kelly Green Color Rush jerseys full time. Those were pretty sweet actually. And so Jamal Adams was full of crap when he said these aren't them huh.
  8. There are no studs in this draft. A bunch of interesting prospects who each have some flaw. No Quentin Nelson this year. A guy like Chris Lindstrom's upside isn't really any greater than Wyatt Teller's or Spencer Long's when he was coming out. Jonah Williams etc all have major flaws. Maybe Taylor is the stud, but he needs work as well. We got two studs in Morse and in Spain. They are better than any player who could have been drafted this year. Dawkins has the upside and potential to be a stud. Long is a former third round pick who was touted as the next Incongnito at guard. Feliciano is a former mid round guy who developed under Mike Tice. Waddle is a guy who has been developed by the best line coach in the NFL. Even Nsehke is a guy who filled in for a top three NFL tackle and played well. So they aren't all studs, but they have some shine and upside. Aside from Nsehke, they are all young in their prime players with a ton of experience. And that is the best thing you can provide to a young quarterback. Rookie linemen ain't helping the young quarterback. Having these young, experienced guys on the line gives you the best of both worlds. The Titans drafted stud tackles in the top ten and they still suck. I like Beane's plan better.
  9. Forget about PFF grades. Really good stuff here: https://mobile.twitter.com/Cover_1_/status/1113848678073151488 I think it will be a mix of both, but the style of zone game that Castillo was teaching was just so passive. I hope we see something similar to what Johnson was doing as an assistant in Indy, which was mostly power run stuff. Based on the interior guys we signed, signing a tackle to play tight end, and the fact that Indy and NE ate us alive with power run, I think we see more power stuff.
  10. I know they are inbred poll cheaters, but generally a lot Titan fans seem to think the scheme change in Tennessee really hurt him. I think he is a power scheme player, who can play some zone. That's what he excelled at early and at WV. Feliciano, Spain, Long...these guys are all road graders. Morse is scheme versatile.
  11. Yep no center at Miami. I think it was Mike Tice two or three years ago who decided he needed to learn center. He's been their second team center since then. Rodney Hudson doesn't really miss many games, but Feliciano got some reps when Hudson got injured in that Raiders-Texans Connor Cook playoff game. So yep, he can play center.
  12. I think as currently constituted, yes. I think, with Morse's injury history it pays to keep a legit backup center and that would be Bodine. I do think he could be replaced with a rookie, but center depth is not something that many teams have, and it's not something we should take for granted. Bodine is probably better than 5-10 starting centers in the NFL, so you could in theory fetch something for him in a trade. Daniel Kilgore actually fetched something last year. Brett Jones fetched a seventh rounder. Neither guy is as good as Bodine. It's not that far fetched that needy teams would trade a late round pick for a guy like Bodine. But both Jon Feliciano and Jeremiah Sirles have the ability to play center. I do think, if Long doesn't not win the right guard job, he would become the #2 center and knock Bodine off the roster. What would I do? I'd train Ike Boettger to be a center because I do think he has some interesting center traits.
  13. I like his versatility, but my point is that he is not a natural center. Every chance he's had to play at guard, in both Washington and NY he played at a very high level. The dude is a guard who was forced into the center position because Washington had no other choice. I want the Bills to give him a real shot at the right guard spot and just leave him there and not worry about playing center. I'm saying that taking that off his plate will help him focus on the things that he is good at. He started for three years at RG at Nebraska and started at guard for Washington until they made him a center. Leave him be and I think he will surprise and forms a really strong interior with Spain and Morse.
  14. I don't get that either. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I don't understand why this guy was undrafted and now I don't get why he had to settle. There must be something about his game that football people don't like. I feel like Beane was in teh market for one premier interior player and wound up with Morse. But circled back around to Spain when it was clear he wasn't going to get any huge offers.
  15. Yeah I get what you are saying. I think that most people assume that Waddle is in competition at RT or simply signed to be depth at tackle. But he can play guard as well.
  16. Just to add, I do think Spencer Long will surprise people if we leave him at right guard. He started there at Nebraska for three years and was drafted as a guard. Washington moved him to center out of necessity and he played well and earned a big contract. But I think his upside and fit is at the guard position. I want to see what he can do if you just leave him at guard and take the center responsibilities off of him. He's got some pedigree and started a lot of games in the league and in college. He's my favorite to start at RG opposite Spain.
  17. Honestly, I really don't understand how a guy like Spain goes undrafted. He was really good at WSV. His film was him smashing guys, and his combien numbers were fine. Idk, maybe it's the sloppy body? I love this guy. He's a road grader.
  18. I don't know man. It's a different era. Those numbers mean very little imo. Zay is meh. He doesn't have any traits that show tremendous upside that says he is any more than what we have seen. I think he is what he is, which is meh. Most of his numbers came in garbage time: https://fantasydata.com/9-best-fantasy-football-garbage-time-players-of-2018 He's number 5 on the top ten garbage time fantasy players of 2018. Again this isn't then end all be all, but it does mean that you have to take his statistics with a grain of salt.
  19. Zay Jones is Josh Reed. He's meh. But what makes things worse for a lot of people, me included is that we gave up draft capital to trade up to get him, and passed on Cooper Kupp and JuJu. Now that's not Zay's fault, but it is what it is. What is his fault is that he doesn't catch the ball. Great receivers like TO had a lot of drops, but he was a gamebreaker. You can't be a meh jag receiver and not be able to catch the ball. Zay is nowhere near Moulds in terms of ability and upside. Zay is a Josh Reed type.
  20. The Bills are crazy if they draft an offensive linemen at 9 in this particular draft. None of them are worth that pick.
  21. Definitely, Dillard is a much better prospect, but their college pass blocking grades were both super high. My point is that that PFF number on Dillard means very little if anything. It's a system produced number.
  22. This number is a bit misleading based on the offense that Washington State runs. To me the Risner and Bradbury numbers are impressive. But PFF stuff is not really meaningful when it comes to offensive line. You have to look at all of the factors. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/draft-2018-prospect-preview-is-wsu-g-cody-oconnell-the-best-pass-blocker-in-the-nation This is PFF's article that touted former WSU OL Cody O'Connell as the best pass blocking linemen in the country. He graded a 93.1. This is the same guy who wasn't even good enough to make a practice squad. That's how meaningful these numbers are. Dillard may be athletic, but he has short arms and played in a offense that hid any deficiencies in his game. It's a trap. To me he is not a first round pick. From the article, eerily similar to what they are saying about Dillard. Obviously, Dillard is the better prospect. But don't be mislead by PFF numbers that don't tell the whole story. O’Connell will always have question marks about is run blocking ability coming from the pass-first Washington State offense. Although he did produce the third-highest percentage of positively-graded blocks in the run game, he gave up the 26th highest percentage of negatively-graded run blocks in the draft class too.
  23. These made me think of Browning Nagle. And they are awful. This looks like a Green version of the new Browns jerseys.
  24. This what the Patriots did last year. They loaded up with tight ends, fullbacks, and big offensive linemen and literally smashed people with old school power, duo, and counter plays, all the way to the Super bowl. With teams spending so much more time in nickel and getting smaller, quicker linebackers, it makes sense to attack them with some old school smash mouth football. And the playaction attack gets that much better.
