  1. I disagree. Teams are going to keep chasing the Sean McVay model and hire losers like Nate Hackett over and over again, every once in awhile you find a Zac Taylor. Just hire good coaches and leaders of men. Side of the ball should not matter. Head coaches are supposed to be CEOs and should not favor one side or the other. I think the Texans are going to hire DeMeco Ryans and the Colts may hire Wink Martindale.
  2. Yeah nobody is going to sign Devin to be a feature back. Maybe a #2. I hope that he is not back. He ain’t it.
  3. Because Josh is big and tall it doesn't matter. His center is 6-6. However, Brown really struggles with leverage and that would hurt him as the post man on double teams and dealing with the smaller stockier bowl ball DTs. It is his skill set that keeps him from being a guard, not his size. I mentioned him in another thread. I like Edwards. He replaced Saffold in LA and was very solid. Here is the thing with Edwards, he had a horrible year and he got hurt. When Jordan Phillips embarrassed that guard in week 1 with the inside swim move, that was Edwards. He had been mostly durable and an above average guard under Kromer and he fell off a cliff this past year. So he can't be your answer, but he is a great guy to bring in and compete.
  4. I didn't have a problem with the Saffold signing. But it was clear as day, to anyone who watches football how horrible he was, and they never made any effort to replace him at all. I know their depth wasn't great, but their was no attempt. Is Van Roten better? I dunno. Ike Boettger when he came back? At this point yeah. They got rid of Quentin Spain quick and should have replaced Saffold in the same manner. Another weird thing to me, why put the two most inexperienced linemen on the line next to each other on the right? I mean stick Bates between Dawkins and Morse and Saffold/Van Roten next to Brown. The whole process around Saffold was weird and illogical.
  5. Frazier would have never been here because he would not spend on quality assistants and coordinators. Zero shot. It would George Edwards or bust.
  6. He exists and his name is Jack Campbell. Love that guy. He has Tremaine's size and his instincts are off the charts, but it's unlikely he will test like Tremaine. I am excited to see what he does at the combine. Campbell might be one of my favorite linebackers I have seen in awhile. 6-5, 246. The Bills likely won't draft him because he doesn't have that sideline to sideline range, but he makes up for that with tremendous instincts. He's awesome. To me he is a bigger Logan Wilson with better instincts.
  7. Yeah don't pay either. Never pay a running back, draft them in the 3-6 range, use them for all they are worth, rinse and repeat. Restructure Hines and spread that money over two years as a change of pace guy and return guy. Say goodbye to Singletary and watch him toil in obscurity as a the #2 back in Jacksonville or something.
  8. As crazy as it might sound, I see the Panthers throwing the bag of money at Daniel Jones. Born and raised in Charlotte, went to Duke, good fit with Reich, still young. DJ Moore is really good.
  9. I am not surprised they didn't hire Wilks, but they screwed up.
  10. Yeah I think that is where losing Beasley hurt. I thought Crowder looked pretty good early on as that intermediate guy, then he got hurt. That really intelligent and subtle route running was missing with McKenzie (who will never be that guy) and Shakir, who has a chance to develop into that. You have to consider bringing back a Beasley or a Crowder or similar guy in FA like Randall Cobb. Jakobi Meyers is a perfect fit but may be too expensive.
  11. Steve Wilks, come on down
  12. Yeah I think their personnel is tailor made fo a gap scheme run mix. That is when they are at their best. Their run and pass games are super vanilla, zero play action. As much as he sucks as a play caller, a little Greg Roman run game would really help their cause.
  13. This was the knock on Davis when he was drafted, and part of why he dropped. And honestly it is a problem that it has not changed. Blame him and the coaches. Also blame them for allowing Hodgins to get away (essentially the anti Davis). Just poor evaluations.
  14. Agreed. They have not shown the patience to let these IOL guys develop. With the Wyatt Teler thing (not trying to beat a dead horse) but they brought in guys like Quentin Spain and Jon Feliciano and draft Cody Ford. That essentially pushed Teller off the roster. They never let the guy develop. I suppose my point is that if they drafted interior O linemen every year, they still would have signed guys like Saffold and pushed the young guys off the roster anyway. The only reason you cut a guy like Morse if you are reallocating that money to a top guard and moving Ryan Bates to center. Otherwise they should keep him around and extend imo.
  15. Agreed. He has elite ball skills, route running etc, that's why he was a first round pick. So guys like him are definitely the exception for me.
  16. So the Frazier contract stuff is speculation (I Think). But I will say that from all accounts, generally, assistant coach contracts are 3 years in length and Leslie just finished his 6th year here. Again this is an assumption. He as originally signed in 2017 as DC. When his contract was up he signed a new one that named him Assistant head coach/DC. So who knows if that was longer than 3 years?
  17. I am not a big cap guy, but I am not opposed to simple extension/restructure to take on two more years for Morse. He is still young. Concussions are something, but its not like its more risky because he is 33.
  18. If Elijah Moore was mad about the offense before, just wait. Insert Michael Jackson eating popcorn gif thingy
  19. Wilks should 100% get that job. I still think they go offensive guy, but Wilks deserves it and earned it. Plus he got a terrible draw with Arizona.
  20. My best guess based on no actual knowledge is that Steve Wilks is coming with Al Holcomb. I would be good with that. Yeah it's more Carolina guys, but they are far from yes men and they know what McDermott wants. Holcomb had a lot to do with the development of Jeremy Chinn as well as Luke Kuechly.
  21. I'm out on tiny wide receivers who really aren't that fast to begin with, ie McKenzie, Marquez Stevenson. No thanks. This Tank dude looks like Calvin Austin to me. Got hurt did nothing. Dude's legs look like twigs. Find guys with elite ball skills, George Pickens guys, Drake London guys. Guys who are going to catch the football and make contested catches in traffic. That's what Josh needs. Guys who can win vertically down the field and go and get the thing. I know it's easier said than done, but enough with the ridiculous water bugs. Unless we are talking Tyreek Hill type build, strength and speed, these little guys don't get it done when it matters.
  22. Yeah McKenzie has to go. No thanks. He's way past the expiration date. Shakir has to catch 200 balls a day.
  23. Bernard can't cover anyone as a linebacker. So he is not the answer. Terrible draft pick. I like the Benford idea, but I do think they bring in a young vet for competition. Banking on Benford to make that transition after he only played in 9 games as a rookie at another position out of a FCS school is extremely poor planning.
  24. I mean, they just played a game in which one of their biggest issues was getting to the qb (who they didn't touch). So for him to match us up with an edge guy is a response to that, which makes some semblance of sense. I figured he'd go O-line, but I also think he knows that this regime is not going to draft a guard in the first round. It just isn't happening. Right now we are probably looking at WR or defensive player in my opinion. I could see they taking the RB if he falls. Would not be my favorite move, but he is a game breaking player. I could also see them taking one of those left tackles if they fall. But I can tell you with confidence, it is not going to be a guard and very unlikely to be a RT.
