  1. It oddly worked in our favor. Because of the better field position they had, they chose to go for it on 4th. Had we punted and stopped them, they would have punted in return and then pinned us deeper. Also, the immediate incompletion to Duke saved the time on the clock that would have been consumed by the punt. Kind of like spiking it on 4th and 27 to kill the clock and save 10 seconds. No, I don't think this is what they were thinking.
  2. I was wondering if it was some of the posters in this thread treating them "like they deserve "
  3. Better when the Texans were getting the ball back then what they would have been after onfe of the biggest bone headed touchdowns in playoff history.
  4. Yeah, Tre White went to the ground. Looked at the ref. The ref blew his whistle and made the hand signal for end of play. Tre White got up and celebrated after the play had been whistled dead.
  5. Is there a section in the rules on what exactly happens on a play when a runner throws a forward lateral? And is there a difference between a forward lateral and a forward pass? Because it seems to me that those are two different plays.
  6. There were idiots there. You can hear them sarcasticly cheering Josh in the video that was posted, and yelling "yeah Bills, 4 for 4!" Mocking the four straight super bowl losses.
  7. Won't happen. The league knew the tv ratings would go down the tubes if the game was 23-0 at that point. That's when the black clad officials stepped out from the shadows and put the leagues interests ahead of the rules.
  8. In the kick off section, his actions do not coint as ending the play and it's a live ball. Not an illegal forward pass, but an illegal forward lateral which can be recovered. But the question is if there is another additional section specifically on "giving yourself up" that would allow them to interpret passing the ball to the ref as giving himself up. Otherwise it's just like creating a tuck rule out of thin air to justify a totally wrong call on the field.
  9. I don't think so, because on a kickoff there's no line of scrimmage. So its not an illegal forward pass, it's an illegal forward lateral. If a running back down field initiates an illegal forward lateral, I believe it would be the defenses ball if they recover. Just may not be able to advance it.
  10. Yeah, the rule stipulates that a kick off is dead if the ball lands in the end zone -- unless it is touched.
  11. The only argument you could make was that by throwing it to the ref it was an act of "giving himself up." Up until that point it could have been a trick play. But throwing it to the ref and walking away from the ball is a pretty clear indication that wasn't faking it.
  12. I mean, they changed the rule a few years ago that if the kickoff lands in the endzone it's not a live ball and an automatic touxhback. I guess the only reason guys are catching it when they intend to take a knee is for practice catching?
  13. Well no, his knee was down, but he got off the ground and leapt for the first down before the contact. He wasn't touched while down. Beasley should have gotten more targets.
  14. They should hire Gregg Williams as HC if the Bills don't make it back to the playoffs next year.
  15. Let us know when you cut him.
  16. Yeah, no. He's a long term project. You either go all in or not at all. If you cut him you absolutely know he'll get a second chance with another team and you wiull be kicking yourself. I agree with doubling down. But it's Josh Allen's passing that needs to be developed. I want him running less, not more. He has the ability to make great throws, let's surround him by guys that get open and catch the ball. He can be a great passer once things slow down a bit more for him and he continues to mature. His brain has to grow into his body.
  17. He did. And I think he has the opportunity to learn from this and grow by leaps and bounds.
  18. Regardless if the ball was batted, three defenders had Josh wrapped up and moving backs, falling on his ass. He that been Singelatary that caught the ball, it certainly would have been ruled "in the grasp." The play should have been ruled a sack. No penalty yards should have been assessed.
  19. McDermott has to commit himself to mastering the offensive side of the ball as well as the defensive side. He needs to develop a killer instinct, and be able to direct the overall management of the Offensive game plan. I'd love to know who called the Frank Gore up the gut play at the end of the first half. If it was Daboll, McD has to veto that in the moment and realize that they have 3 shots at the endzone. Running Gore necessitates spiking the ball, and burns 2 shots. Several other instances where great Head Coaches would instinctively know the strategy needed to go for the jugular. McD needs to grow and learn in that regard.
  20. I think Bills fans are so used to losing that their happy when people get fired. As if that's the best part of the experience.
  21. The exact question was about Allen playing out of character and just throwing the ball up for grabs.
  22. He didn't call out Allen. His quotes are being taking out of context to generate clicks.
  23. An in control player could use that play in in last few seconds of a game. Kind of like the QB throwing it in the dirt. As long as there's a guy "in there area" of the lateral, you could just Chuck the ball out of bounce. Not that I think Josh was thinking that.
  24. No, in a week or two or three they will be training their bodies and trying to improve in order to come back and do it all over again. There's a level of sacrifice that most fans can't comprehend.
  25. Totally disagree. I didn't do squat but sit on my couch watching this game. Those guys have spent their whole lives giving their blood, sweat and tears to play a game that may take decades off of their lives. There's no way you can possible say that a loss means more to you than to them.
