I love tre, but this team has had some issues with tackling RBs from DBs stepping up and supporting the run game. Tre was a lot different prospect. He came back for his senior year and had much better coaching. Tre was a first team all American and all everything. Elam not even 2nd team all SEC.

I have zero memory of Ross Cockrell. Zero...like wtf did I jump into an alternate universe? "Mandela Effect"
-
He played in the bowl game too. Which for a draftable UF player was reassuring. Probably the historic all time low of UF this year. I will root for Elam and hope I'm wrong. But I don't like the pick. I guess in Beane we trust. Elam is coming into a great environment. We "hope" it does not mean anything.

Lito Sheppard was 20 years ago. There were some solid college DBs back then but most of them did not pan out. Reggie Nelson was 15 years ago. Haden was 12 years ago.

I did not go back that far. The culture at UF Football has been problematic for a long time. A lot of entitlement and self interested players. Problems are not his alone, but under Mullen the team lacked discipline and had no structure. It's at a near all time poor level. Rough years for UF ahead. Many of these players get by on talent, get sheltered in a coddling environment, then sputter when they get in environments that challenge them. Frankly, this has not been just an issue for UF DBs...it's hit all positions. Believe me, most the guys listed had GREAT combine and draft grades.

Here are the last great 1st and 2nd round DBs from Florida... CJ Henderson, Keanu Neal, Duke Dawson, Quincy Wilson, Teez Tabor...Vernon Hargreaves, oh and terrible Matt Elam. all busts...
-
Did you watch the gators at all the past 2 years? Guess you did not watch the gators or have not tracked on several of their busts under Mullen.
-
Lol Pats ....but probably a future all pro.
-
Elam ain't White. Not by a country mile.
-
By that logic why not trust him to nab a guy later rounds and develop him?
-
It's not just the culture- Gators had huge issues on defense and got toasted early and often. Elam never popped to me the way most of our past 1st round DBs have. Was actually shocked when they said he was a 1st rd pick.

Hate the pick. I'm a Gator grad and the whole culture there is toxic. Wth did we trade up?
-
Louis Riddick no longer sane voice of reason insider but now a pushy hot take guy who hams it up. Not sure what happened.
-
To those saying board has fallen great for bills....not really. We needed a QB to go by now. Stingly going so early makes CB run likely. I think WR will go too. Nothing crazy has really happened.

Not enough Kiper. Booger won't shut up.

They look like the cheesy truck stop / gas station NFL hats you'd find at a Love's in PA.

Elam is off my board. Don't buy the hype. They ( one bills love) were talking about Beane not loving SEC players....well FL players and that team was one of the most SEC of the SEC teams under Mullen..."me me" chippy after the play, thugs, coddled athletes ridden with endemic culture problems. I cannot stress enough that team was seriously problematic. Elam was not the worst offender, but I'd give anyone from that Mullen team a wide berth. Saying this is hard, as I am a Gator myself.

Not sure I have enough info as Etienne got hurt and Groot was rotational. That being said, I like Groot and am damn happy we took him. Word is Groot is already beefing up like an animal.

Look, I think this list is actually pretty decent. Many have been solid contributors. Expecting one position, especially late round to "turn a team around" seems like a pretty unfair burden. Comparing to later round guys who produced better could be done at nearly any position. Obviously forgetting Harris who was almost single handidly pushed Pitt to playoffs. It's also very important we are talking about pick #25 and not #5. Now show me the busts and performance of WRs....or CB....even OG another position where later rounds tend to produce viable starters.

Man just a lot of crazy talk. I'm not committed to one guy, but I'd love Hall on this team. For starters we don't need a RB1 we don't play an RB1 . But we absolutely need a RB out of this draft. We could use playmakers. A pass catching RB or a jack of all trades jacknife WR. Hall will likely be that guy at 25. A guy like Hall will get 10-15 touches a game regardless of how. That's more playmaking and use than any WR we will get at 25 factoring our depth chart. Let's add that our WR core had 4 re-sign ed or signed. Honestly seeing as how a CB will likely enter as a CB3 or a WR would be 4 or 5, and seeing how Singletary is an UFA next year....it just lines up very well. As for CB ...I guess it depends how we have our own CB2 graded and depends how TD is coming along. I believe they like Dane more than we know. I also believe they are very confident in their ability to draft CBs later and coach them up. I won't be heartbroken with any one pick this year, but man...Hall would look really good in blue

My own memory had plenty buzz about Groot to Buff in many mocks. Not sure much came from OBD. I strongly doubt fake buzz came from OBD to get teams to reach or move up. That seems totally unsubstantiated. But on that note, don't think we really had a ton of buzz on Etienne that he was a Bill for sure. Most of this came after or during the actual draft. A solid amount of RBs have been taken in round 1 the past 10 years. Teams will pull the trigger. Honestly the bust rate of RBs in round 1 vs positions like WR is probably even less.

I don't get the lust for a WR when we have Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, Crowder, and don't sleep on how high on they are of Kumerow. Now factor drafting a WR ...how many touches is he going to get? Breece Hall ..if drafted by the Bills... will be a guy who can get the ball in his hands 10-15 times a game, factor huge in the passing game and be every bit as electric and influential as any WR on the board. Plus Singletary is a UFA next year. We know we were high on a pass catching RB to go after McKissic, and the Duke Johnson acquisition was more to replace Breida. Bills basically still have not made a move to make up for that McKissic loss. Breece Hall makes too much sense....

I'd give any Mullen era gators a wide berth. Huge me first culture there.
