NYC politician wants Bills+Giants to adopt Jets Anthem policy
Lfod replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well just from my observation the subject being discussed is about kneeling and not about police brutality. The focus in the news is on the kneeling and not the police brutality. The focus of the very statement that spawned this post was about the kneeling and not on the police brutality. I don't see how you can think the message wasn't lost. Has the guy who made the statement about the Bills being like the Jets done anything about police brutality? Has he mad a peep or caused a single reform? No it's about effecting the kneeling process. I would think the focus should be about creating policy to effect the police brutality. I mean if that's what mattered to me. Kneeling seems more important now. So yea the message has been scrambled up in my opinion. I think the solution is that you have police do the same thing as Starbucks and everyone agrees to chill out. At least Starbucks is trying to do something about thier screw up. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/650316002&ved=2ahUKEwjNxqz4mLTbAhWDk1kKHQffDQYQFjAOegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw0up8gXoYv0JkxeNtnQkioK&ampcf=1 In fact I should probably bow out now because I'm going off topic because this is absolutely just a subject about players kneeling in the NFL. I don't want to get a warning. -

I can understand if some one lost a loved one to police brutality and felt strongly about it. I won't discount thier feelings. I had edited my post to reflect that thier feelings should absolutely matter. That is what I said above. CK was heard. He sacrificed his career to send his message. His message was honorable, only in the way it happened some people felt disrespected. If you look at it without bias at all then it would go back to my original post. Both sides want respect. Both sides felt disrespected. I'm not talking about justification. I'm talking about preception of the subject. The message was lost if the focus is on the kneeling and not the police brutality you dig? If I asked CK what he wanted to be remembered for, raising awareness or kneeling during anthem I don't think the kneeling part would be as important as the actual message. The kneeling was a gimmick to get attention brought to the subject. -

If you were very Patriotic, and those people do exist then it could have special meaning to you. Like say your son or brother joined the military and lost his life in battle. Let's say you yourself fought for the country in a war and lost your legs and lived in a wheelchair. The National Anthem. The way people rise with a hand to heart might represent your sacrifice or your son or brothers. To some it's just a song or ritual. To others it's lost limbs and family members. I don't think CKs intention was to dishonor those people. CK just wanted to have his message heard. He was successful. Although I can understand if some one lost a loved one to police brutality and felt strongly about it. I won't discount thier feelings. Personally I feel blessed to have suffered none of those things. -

That's because you don't believe it in the same way that those people do. To be honest neither do I, but I won't dismiss thier belief in it just because I don't feel the same way. Just as not everyone suffers police brutality and just because of that they shouldn't dismiss it doesn't exist. -

I find myself in a grey area. I do understand that this world has problems and if people want to combat those problems, I won't stand in the way. I just won't be dragged into a fight that isn't mine. You won't find me being a part of the division or taking sides. I believe strongly in freedom, but I call it free will. I think the issue is that both sides want to be respected and both sides are disrespectful to each other. Therefore I see no innocent people in the fight and I don't see the honor in either cause. After all this time no common ground was agreed upon. It's as simple as yes I can agree a group of people have been wronged, but in you sending that message you wronged another group of people. That is why my prediction is that the solution won't be found. -

Thanks for the response. I was asking those questions because I really didn't know. I knew that Watson had been getting praise but I wasn't sure how similar the circumstances had been when Yolo mentioned it. Sounds to be a bit more similar then I had thought. I only want Allen to be successful. That is my why I had formulated the opinion I have. I just want the team to do the best thing with the Allen investment. It's kinda important to me and I imagine it is to the team as well. If starting Allen this season is going to be the best outcome for him and the team then I could only be for it. I just would rather have Allen start because the team is comfortable and not making the choice in haste. I read another response about Allen from Gunner. I really was asking questions I didn't know. I am thankful for the knowledge of the situation. It makes for a deeper discussion. It relaxes my position on Allen starting. My only real desire is that Allen can be successful. I am a patient person. Trust me I want to see Allen start just as bad as anyone. I just don't want to see the investment fail. -

In the spirit of being a good sport I won't push my opinion. I put it on record and I will own it when the time comes. We have different philosophies and I respect that. I did enjoy the discourse. I look forward to revisiting the discussion on Allen during preseason and the start of the season. Obviously I think a lot of successful QBs wouldn't exactly have the same success starting for the Bills next season let alone a rookie QB with a huge potential to be great, but that is of course my opinion. Obviously I want Allen to be successful, the sooner the better. So I hope people don't get the impression that I don't want that. I'm going to need to see it to believe it. Thanks for the civil debate. -

Is QB the only thing the Bills offence is missing? Nick Foles won the Superbowl. Would Nick Foles bring the Bills to the Superbowl and win next season? -

The cartoon is just an example of some guy riding the hype and jumping ship during struggle. Like I predict a lot of people will do if Allen struggles. It's not hard to understand. Well I guess it is.... I still haven't seen any good arguments to start Allen besides hypothetical what ifs. -

I really don't know if the situation is the same. I would have to ask if Watson started on a team with a new OC when the last OC was fired the year before. Did the line lose a couple key players like our line lost woods and Incognito? Was a new scheme being implemented at the start of Watson's career? Even escape artist Tyrod got planted on his head and had to take a seat his last game of the year with the line we had before we lost players. How long does it take for a new OC to implement a new scheme and everything to gel together anyway? Was the result of Watson being injured a good one? Did the Texans spend as much draft capital on Allen as the Texans did with Watson. Was it a new GMs first draft with a HC going into his second year? I just think with all that going on it wouldn't be reasonable to question why the rush to throw out your rookie QB that you invested heavily in on a team that's cap strapped and hit with a few unplanned curve balls. Did Watson have a receiving core that is looked down upon like our current one is. I mean Zay almost jumped out a window man. Now dude getting surgery and will it effect anything? Is it that crazy to think it would look stupid if Allen starts and calamiy happens and he sits for the rest of the year anyway due to injury? Would it have been worth the risk because people are riding the hype of a rookie QB? Is Allen that good coming out of college people want to bank on him having an immediate impact on a team that was having struggles scoring points the year before. Anything can happen but wow man. -
Are we expecting a spending spree next year?

Getting out of debt doesn't give you an excuse to spend yourself back into debt. Yes I want some spending to go down. Spend on guys like Shady and avoid guys like Dareus. -

The only way I'll criticize the Bills for starting Allen is if he suffers a serious injury. I'm talking season ending. I don't even blame McDermott for starting Peterman. In fact I still support the fact he did it. -

Well I've given my opinion about the Bills being cautious. I think it's a wise approach. I'm not against Allen starting. I'm not saying my opinion is fact, I just feel strongly. I don't think the team is ready based on last season. It's the present now I understand that. -

Just showing you some media around Cam Newton when he had his early struggles. I don't think the team is ready. -

I have a feeling that the people wanting him to start will be the first ones to give up in him if he struggles. I think it's them wanting to write the book on Allen. They want to judge the pick as soon as possible. I don't think it's them wanting Allen to start because it will make the team better. If he starts and struggles I bet no one calling for him to start will say it was a mistake to rush him in. They will only say Allen sucks. -
Daboll: Blocking Scheme, Approach to the Game
Lfod replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you that we have to wait and see. Although placing doubt on him isn't any better then giving him the benefit of the doubt. I would think we would all want him to succeed. I don't mind if he wants to talk about his vision. It gets me excited. All I'm saying is he didn't fail as the Bills OC yet. I'm rooting for him. I want to see quotes about his vision. It's if he fails I don't want to see the excuses. Then I won't want to listen to what he says about his vision. If it doesn't work. -

I can respect a person who watches a lot of tape then offers thier opinion. The thing is two people can look at a piece of art and have two different interpretations of what that art means. I've watched a few peoples analysis of some of Allen's game tape. Even some of Petermans 5 interception games. I appreciate the time and effort in the break down. At the end of the day I just see it as one guys interpretation of what that tape means. I take conclusions into consideration. I mean that's why I look at people doing analysis of tape. I crave thier opinions. Obviously it isn't exact science or people would have 100% track records when giving a prediction of a persons future. Then there always the human factor. Sometimes we are a product of our environment. Just my thoughts. College isn't the NFL and the Bills are not Wyoming. People shouldn't be so quick to disagree or agree. Just take what's presented then ponder over it then see the outcome and give credit to those who got it right. -

Probably save a lot of money by getting a chicken and growing my own garden. I've always had a desire to get off the grid as much as I could. Never did take the plunge. -

How many starts will rookie first-round QBs get?
Lfod replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shady has been blessed by the football Gods. I wouldn't bet money on him being injured. I do realize it can happen. The team shouldn't be so dependant on him anyway. That leads to having boxes stacked or whatever so regardless other players need to contribute to the production or it won't matter. Run heavy is ok, run only is just bad. Shady should be a bullet in the chamber not the only weapon the team has at it's disposal. That's what makes me believe he could be injured. When you run the guy through a defense that is completely keyed in on him. -
Does your thinking now fly out the window in September?
Lfod replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did all my thinking and it's already flown out the window. I just want to wipe the slate clean in my mind and see how the season unfolds and be a Bills fan. I have some faith and I have some doubts. I'm ready to ride the highs and lows of the season. I found myself very critical twords the end of last season only to see lightning strike. It was amazing to see the video of the team when Andy Dalton made the play that secured the playoffs. I'm glad I got to live vicariously through them at that moment and share the joy. I was dissapointed in myself for counting the Bills out. It was a lesson learned for me. I feel like I read the first few chapters of the Bills in the new era and I'm eagerly anticipating reading the next few chapters. I'm really just hoping for a happy ending to this story. -
