Met Thurman Thomas, Jim Kelly and Darryl Talley at the United Way Day of Caring in August 2019. All three were incredibly gracious. Thurman was posing for pictures with anyone who wanted them inside Key Bank Center while everyone gathered to be bussed off to their volunteer location…. and Jim and Darryl came to our location (African American Cultural Center in Buffalo) later that morning and thanked us all, then went inside to talk to the kids (there was a summer school program going on there; I think)

what I want to know is… how many were young children who can’t get the vaccine yet? Because, at the risk of sounding callous, everyone 12+ has had the opportunity for months now to get fully vaccinated (besides the extremely rare legit health reason). Again, these numbers are interesting to keep an eye on, but they definitely should not precipitate any kind of shutdowns en masse like in March 2020.

for sure. And it’s extremely unfortunate for them. Time for life to continue on as normal though, and the immunocompromised will have to take extreme precautions while out and about (or not, as their comfort level dictate ls).

what IS the progress on the under-12 crowd being able to get the vaccine, anyways? Feels like there hasn’t been a peep on how the approvals are coming along in ages now. I’m a little sad that my oldest is going to have to wear a face diaper on his first day of kindergarten this September, but… it is what it is.
