  1. The money isn't much different. Costs almost $200k more to cut Allen. I would hate to wager which is better, Barkley is pushing 33 years old and has a weak arm. ONE of them has to go, my personal preference is Barkley (to start).
  2. Spector costs more to IR than to cut ($25k). He'd pass through waivers with his total of 6 career tackles right to the PS if they wanted him there.
  3. Kirksey is definitely interesting. A 1-year contract (with a void year) might be the ticket.
  4. Terry bought the Sabres for $189M and it's worth over $600M. He has also had possible net yearly revenues with maybe the exception of Covid years. Team is on the rise again and fans will go back to their seats. He is not losing money owning the Sabres.
  5. Key Bank lease expires in 2025. Pegula has time to get things together plus I bet the county would add years if needed. I guess a question to ask is, is Key Bank viable to staying open without the Sabres and possibly without the Bandits?
  6. I would say that is part of it. The other is time management with Kim being in her challenges. IMO, Terry would give up all the other entities that were under PSE before giving up the Bills and Sabres, and there are a bunch of them.
  7. Terry is not giving up the Sabres. The Bills and Sabres are going to go on their own which is probably a good thing. I would think that all the other organizations that were within PSE are the ones that may have changes in them. With the Kim situation, breaking away from "country music" and some other media stuff may keep Terry just focused on Bills and Sabres.
  8. Pretty much agree with the 53 Roster. Maybe one surprise would be a LB (maybe Klien) cut and someone from another team brought in. Who do you have cut from the DL when Von Miller returns off of PUP? Whoever that is might not make the initial 53 IMO. That I guess would be dependent on how close they think Miller is. I'm not sold on Baylon Spector going to IR. He might be healthy enough to avoid that. If Khalil Shakir isn't healthy enough for the Jets maybe he goes to IR and one of the PS WRs makes the 53 as a cut and resign. The PS will get churned like it always does, but I see Barkley cut an someone else brought in. He brings nothing to the team now. Don't see 3 WRs. Shavers won't make it. (Unless one of the others end up on the 53 like I said above.) I'd trade out Evans for Ty Johnson at RB. I also think at least 1 and as many as 3 of the PS players could be picked up by other teams.
  9. Miller was restructured in the spring. Beane has a number of guys he can get a small amount from that will equal to enough money to get through this week. Also, a couple of guys could get extended like Jones as an example. There are anywhere from 5 to 7 players under the Top 51 who probably make the team. This will also free up a little more cash. I'm pretty sure Beane has all this worked out and has a number of options to work with.
  10. Agree about the cap hit for a team like the Bills. Personally, I was happy the Bills signed Kyle Allen for $1.1M and I really thought he would be a decent fit for the backup job. From what I have seen, he's been a pretty big disappointment. Add to that, it's seems to me that Matt Barkley bring nothing to that role too. One of them HAS to go and a plan to rotate these guys out and bring in some others seems justifiable. Of course, the guys they bring in for the $1M to $1.5M might not be any better, but when it comes to younger backups you just never know. I'd rather go that route looking for another Purdy than what they seem to have now.
  11. I just got done with that. I think I'll start a thread!
  12. Having Stroud succeed is everything to the Texans. Keenum is the old "mentor", and they would be foolish to cut him AND lose cap. Then again, they are not the Houston Texans for nothing. If any team should keep 3 QBs on the 53 man roster it is Houston.
  13. I agree about Kyle. I would like to see Barkley get let go and bring in a true "project" guy with the skills you mentioned who maybe could take over the #2 spot in the future.
  14. No, they don't. Let's say one of these released guys clear waivers. They then immediately become an UFA. Teams can sign these guys any time they want. An example is Jason Peters. He is also an UFA and any team can sign him at any time. Acquiring one of these players just means someone else is getting cut by deadline time.
  15. Generally speaking, yes. Most teams will hold off waiving the players they want for their PS until the end. My understanding is the waiver rules make that the best way. Let's say a team is interested in a backup QB (good example). Using that example: Beane (Buffalo Bills) is way down the waiver list. Let's also say he is interested in 2 or 3 guys that are getting waived. He can put in for one of the 3 he likes. It's risky to put in for more because if no other team picks any of those guys up ahead of him he has to sign all the backup QBs he put in for. On the other hand, one (or more) could be picked up by other teams and he gets none of them. GMs know this and try to release all the better players all at once to get as many through waivers as possible. Kind of "safety in numbers". Of course, the teams at the top of the list have much better odds of getting who they want. Now, as for the vets who get "released", they become UFAs and can sign to any team they want. It seems it would be extremely hectic for a very short period of time. There are 3 separate things going on at once. Waived, released and then PS signing.
  16. I can see a scenario where Kyle Allen is kept as QB2 (at least to start the season) and Barkley let go. Find the best younger guy to sign to the PS. It's not ideal at all, but the thought of both K Allen AND Barkley is too much to take.
  17. Man, the Rams starters and depth are both bad. This team could be picking first in the 2024 draft.
  18. That's what I was wondering about. It seems my nephew could get pre-verified using that SheerID system. You no doubt were logged into YouTube with your own account, true? I take it you just used your credit card for the purchase. If so, that cool, the kids don't need to get involved in paying if true.
  19. The student discount plan looks like it's handled differently than the DirecTV one. Can you describe the process so I can tell my nephew how it's done or did you do it with his info? If you don't want to do it in this thread, could I PM you?
  20. Exactly how I see it. No need to play Week 5 in London. That gives him 2 full weeks of normal practice before the G-men.
  21. To be truthful I thought he was a good signing for the backup position. I was wrong. Barkley isn't any better, so they need another lotto ticket. As for the "worse" I won't go down that road. There wasn't even a decent starter through most of that time.
  22. That's actually great to hear. McDermott took over the DC for this year to get it the way he wants it post Frazier. If he's got guys in the wings preparing to take it over in the future, that's a plus for me.
  23. All the torches constitute a fire hazard. As I see it Benford has outplayed his draft position so as of now it's a wash. Elam still has a shot to get it together. Crazy talk, I know.
