Is Josh a mediocre QB right now? And does it matter?
ColoradoBills replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I go by your statistical measurement stated in the OP and the conclusions are that Trevor Siemian and Case Keenum are better QBs in the NFL than Josh Allen, then I will have to say your assumptions, using that data only, is incorrect. My points about variables are true. Here is a "variable". What are Tom Brady's chances of becoming the GOAT if he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the 7th round (LB Sekou Sanyika) instead of by the New England Patriots in the 6th? -

I was a data geek in my job and now that I'm retired, I still have spreadsheets giving me "directions" in my personal life. While I enjoy the data and statistics in football, there are so many variables that go into numbers like this. When you add in the play of the complete team rosters, scheduling, team placements in divisions and conferences, weather, coaching and simple good or bad luck (just to name a few) I have to beware of their results. Josh Allen is an elite athlete and is still young enough for none of us to know what his ultimate career results will be. We all know how close the team (and by extension) Josh Allen was 2 years ago from winning it all. My opinion FWIW (and that isn't much). -
Good breakdown of the McTua Cheetahcode Offense

You bring up an interesting point, but wouldn't it just change the need for the QB "elites" to "skill position" elites? How many of these speedy elite skill players are sitting around? Tua will get paid by Miami IMO and then they will have the same issues as other teams. -
Can we talk about Gabe Davis's performance?
ColoradoBills replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe some fans do wish he "becomes" elite. I said he looked good and deserves more targets. He went 4 for 4 and is after all a 1st round pick that has fans hopeful. I case you don't realize it you are replying to every Kincaid post in every thread this week. I have to say newcam, your anti-Kincaid rhetoric is bordering on crusading. -
Week 2 Bills vs Raiders Home Opener!

Couldn't agree more. A percentage of those catches with a broken tackle can also add to some good YAC. -
Terry Pegula has shown me nothing to make me believe that he is a "racist" or would have made those remark. His devotion to his wife, who is a champion of inclusion and diversity, is well known and her life story which Terry has bonded with, contradicts these "allegations". There would have to be concrete evidence with a contextual nature of true "racism" for me to change my mind. Some may laugh at me, but I do sympathize with what Terry and Kim must be feeling right now. Money doesn't stop a feeling so hurtful that he had to use the word "disgusted" and "horrified" in his statement. This, on top of Kim's health struggles must be creating a somber atmosphere in a home that has had its share of challenges lately. We all have seen what an emotional guy he is. 2 years ago, there was threads on this forum pushing a narrative exactly opposite of what is now being believed by some. I believe Terry is proud of what his wife was championing and what her life story was that shaped her life and family. Unfortunately, all her work is being replaced with the current media hype and reshaping their public persona.

Got a game now!

The Eagles will show if they are a serious contender this season when they have a stretch in November and the beginning of December playing the Cowboys, Chiefs, Bills, 49ers, and Cowboys again all in a row.

He stepped forward perfectly that time.
-
He did it.

Welp, Cousins has one series to get a TD back and stay in this game. Don't see it happening but he has to do it.

But the D does not necessarily have to cause the fumble for the rule to take effect. Why is the goal line the overwhelming factor? Why not have the D get the ball every time the O fumbles out of bounce? It's a weird rule.

Week 2 Bills vs Raiders Home Opener!
ColoradoBills replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kincaid was 4 of 4. Maybe have his routes a few yards more down the field. I want to see him catching passes on first down in the 7-10 yard range. -
If they want to minimize the chance of fumbles into the endzone being done on purpose the rule should be a 10-yard penalty from the spot of the fumble at the most. Giving the ball over is just insane.
-
Right where Kincaid and Knox should be occupying.

Medium tempo throws behind those guys is what to me is lacking. Not swing and screens and not deep. In the gap between!
-
The Bills ran a number of bootleg plays back in 2021. Both to the right and left. Dorsey should look at some plays from that season.
-
Eagles last year were 14-3 and the Vikings were 13-4 (should have been 12-5 because you know the play) so they are 2 of 3 elite teams from last year in the NFC. This game kind of puts things into perspective with the NFL.

I agree there is much more to it than my simplistic example. You added the 2nd tier to that and I'm sure there is more. If Dorsey's play calling insists that his "progression" be followed to the letter and Josh is going along with that, it's not good. If Josh is adlibbing too much, that's not good either. McDermott would have to get involved and get them to spread the ball around both in players and areas of the field.

I quoted this part of your post for emphasis to comment on the bolded. What I don't know (and can't figure out how to find the answer) is this "downfield" tendency a called play by Dorsey? I don't know if that is true. In all my years of watching football I was under the belief that on a certain multi-receiver play it is foolish for the OC to pre-determine which of the receivers will ultimately get the pass. With all the defensive pre-snap high jinks and realignments, it would be hard for the OC to know the deep pass (for instance) is going to be the advantageous throw. I always assumed that is on the QB shoulders. Isn't the QB tasked with surveying the Ds alignment (both pre-snap and then again post-snap) to determine of all the possible pass routes, which receiver will have the best advantage on each particular play called? Then upon the snap he keys on one or two defenders' initial movements to confirm his choices. So you can see, while I believe that there are too many times when the deep pass(es) are looked at first, I just don't know if it's Dorsey wanting that, or both him and Josh wanting it or just Josh making the deep throws his priority. Without truly knowing what's going on behind the scenes I have a hard time pointing fingers to who or what the real problem is. McDermott is ultimately responsible for emphasizing and/or correcting any issues like this, but I have a hard time pointing the finger his way too, once again due to not knowing what is going on behind the scenes. Is McDermott asking Dorsey why all the deep throws and Dorsey replies, I don't know, I gave a play with 5 options, 2 deep, 2 intermediate and 1 short. I use this speculation as an example only. So you can see, looking at this way, I just don't know what is wrong and who needs to adjust. LOL, all I want is a couple long methodical TD drives a game. I haven't seen many of these lately.

Rewatching the Game.....Enough Blame to Go Around, BUT....

Hard to argue with this fact.
