Daboll having tension with a coach in NY too
Bobby Hooks replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree that there’s most likely friction on every team. But so much that there’s articles being written about it? People were hyping Daboll’s offensive prowess and giving him full credit for Allen’s turnaround. I think he was eating up his hype with a spoon in Buffalo. Not to say that Mcdermott doesn’t have an ego, I believe he’s a head case as well. But well known animosity with other high ranking coaches on his last two teams? Where there’s smoke… -
Von Miller faces arrest in domestic violence case in Dallas
Bobby Hooks replied to ArdmoreRyno's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he did get offered the gig and take it, he’d just tell us over and over again via interviews and social media that he would’ve taken less to work with the Cowboys. -
Von Miller faces arrest in domestic violence case in Dallas

Do you think this hurts his chances of being the next GM of the Buffalo Bills? -
Do we even need this thread? I’d say the obvious, that if Allen went down so would our playoff hopes, but even with Allen we’re most likely not making the playoffs. This team has much bigger problems than our back-up qb not being good.

Von Miller faces arrest in domestic violence case in Dallas
Bobby Hooks replied to ArdmoreRyno's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let’s not pretend that it wasn’t working at the time. We were top five in pass rush, when he got hurt, we went to mid-twenties. We all knew the risks involved. We just so happened to get the worst case scenario. Most believed where we were, and what we needed the risk was warranted. It’s tough, but we took a swing. I’d rather have a team with that mindset than what we had for the 20 year drought. This one just happened to backfire. -

Ahhh… that makes way more sense. -

How were we a dumpster fire? We were coming off a great season. Free agents were coming here cheaper than they’d get elsewhere. You don’t do that to go to a dumpster fire. -

Ahh… gotcha. Well that stinks. -

If there’s a possibility of voiding the deal, I bet the Bills front office is jumping up and down and high fiving each other like they just made a great pick-up in the draft. -
Really good game for von to become von again
Bobby Hooks replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
I lost all cutting ability when I tore my acl. Not sure if it was all in my head, but I went from running around people to running directly into them. We’re talking about sandlot stuff. I’m not comparing myself to Von in any way, shape, or form. But he appears to go directly at the lineman now. He was able to get away with that when he had the bends as well, because the lineman didn’t know what he was bringing. But if they know he’s going directly at them, with no threat of his other tools, i couldn’t see it being very difficult for these huge dudes to slow him down. He was never the biggest guy, and his game was never all power. -
He’s said he’s open to the practice squad. Add him to the squad, get him up to speed, and if there are any injuries or someone’s leaving a bit on the table, you bring him up. Like I said, why the f not? And don’t try and go the “with what money” route. Beane would make it work if he wanted to. Also, if this happened it would be because Beane wanted it to, so again, why the f not? It’s not exactly like I’m pounding the table for the guy. Just a nice insurance body, just in case.

I’ll take him. Why the f not?

Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles
Bobby Hooks replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe Von’s been saving the good stuff for this one? Man, if he was going full speed with Floyd and Oliver playing the way they are, this would be a scary pass rush. -
That would be a huge mistake. You’d essentially ruin one of the most exciting parts of the entire game. I know bombs are one of the things that drew me to the game as a kid. If you make pi a 10-15 yard penalty you’re guaranteeing every single bomb where the db is beat will end in a pi. Heck, there’d be some teams/coaches that would strategize to do that stuff and squeeze them when they’re too close to attempt anymore bombs. It would be a really bad idea for the game (making it result in more pi’s/flags, and much less bomb tds), and for the nfl because for the same reasons as it’s bad for the game. New watchers want excitement, not flag central.

You think that’s nuts? Sometimes when I’m feeling a bit cheeky, I stop by when I’m not even bowling. I find the lane with the most bowlers, walk up, and without saying a word saunter over to their fan and just feel the breeze. They don’t even know what hit ‘em! I’ve had a bowler cry, the scene was so intense.

TNF: Bengals vs Ravens - Who are we rooting for?
Bobby Hooks replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I absolutely hate the Bengals and their fans now, so Ravens. But it doesn’t really matter. We stink! -
“Un-captain like behavior?” The guy is the only one that still seems to have some fire in him, he didn’t like the way this team was rolling since last year and he’s been completely proven right. He’s been quiet as a mouse while all this has been going down, and he would be completely right to speak up. IF he speaks up and starts ruffling feathers, I’d 100% back it. The guy wants to win and be competitive, that sentiment doesn’t seem to be shared by this team. I completely expect that he’s going to try and find a way off this team, and I wouldnt hold it against him. In fact, I think we should do it. He’s the only one on this team outside of Allen that would still command a return, and given how this team has been functioning with a bonafide #1 receiver it doesn’t seem to matter. Imo, this teams needs a re-tooling and Diggs won’t be the same guy he is now by the time we’re ready to compete again. Get what you can now for the future.
-
Unfortunately I don’t believe Diggs is the guy he is now, after a re-tooling of that size. I also dont see him sticking around for that. If this is the course, you take what you can get for Diggs. His stock is higher than anyone on the team outside of Allen, and we’d need that return.
-
Will Mcdermott give the coordinator carte Blanche though?
-
It sure does seem like he doesn’t have that razor sharp focus of getting better every year. I feel like he worked really hard to get good at the thing he loved, and then he started loving other things more. I can’t really fault him for that. He’s still good, but without that focus he’s not going to get better. I feel like Diggs saw this coming. He’s all about ball and only cares about getting better and winning the whole thing. Josh is more the work/life balance kinda guy.

100% agree. I have had generations of butterflies populating in my gut since 1988 when I first started watching the Bills. They made it through everything. Wide right, music city, countless terrible qbs and teams. I’m in a weird place right now. It appears this team has killed those butterflies. I don’t know if it’s age, life, not sure. But I dont wake up on gameday feeling them. Even worse, i’ve been falling asleep at halftime during primetime games. I don’t have that nervous excitement that would keep me awake and eyes peeled like the past. Not sure if this is just a phase or what, but I don’t like it one bit. Almost feels to me like the team doesn’t seem to care, so why should I?
