Don’t hold your breath.. I’m trying to decide if he reminds me more of Russell Wilson or Tua Tagovoila. I like his ability to extend plays, he has an okay arm with pretty good touch, but what is this kid’s ceiling? Very undersized, physically his skill set is under matched, what’s the ceiling here? Ultimately when it comes to QBs, I always veer to the side of the players who are athletic freaks. Can’t teach 6’5 with a 99mph fastball. Any good coach worth his salt should go for the athletic anomalies, not the “pro ready” QBs with low ceilings. With this kid I see neither..

I think that Daboll by an overwhelming margin was the better hire, but I think they made a great, great mistake by not hiring Flores as their Assistant HC/defensive coordinator. The dude beat the Patriots multiple times with Tua Tagovoila at QB, he’s a great coach. I will also say that had the Giants not of hired Brian Daboll, that Flores should have gotten the job. However, and a big however at that. Is it racist that the Giants coveted Brian Daboll? Absolutely not! We all knew that Daboll was going to be a hot coach this offseason. We all knew he was as good as gone! This guy was the premier HC candidate in the NFL. I mean, look at Dorsey for example, the understudy of Brian Daboll was in high, high, demand! Seven teams were ready to make him their OC. Call a spade a spade, Daboll was/is the best HC available on the market. Was it wrong for the Giants to say that this was their #1 guy going into the offseason? Absolutely not! That’s a pile of hot steaming hogwash! I’m not so sure about the other two teams in the lawsuit though, but the Giants are 100% blameless in my eyes. The Mara family are the heads of a legendary organization, the only mistake they made was when they didn’t hire Flores to be their DC. Daboll was the pick of the litter, we all know it. Flores would of had to of blown them away to get the job. If Aaron Rodgers and say Lamar Jackson were FAs, who would you sign? Same difference, just in the coaching world. Make no bones about it though, Flores is a great coach, but the Giants should not be a part of this lawsuit, they gave him a fair shake.

Do you guys think they will just promote Shea Tierney to take over the QB/coach position? Or if they’ll hire from outside of the organization? It seems that he is lacking quite a bit in experience, but maybe they want continuity? Guess we all start somewhere. Any news here?

I don’t know how this is going to end up, but my heart breaks for Flores. I think he’s a very good coach and I’ve had nothing but love and respect for him because of the way he played the Patriots for all those years down in Miami. Ultimately this is a guy that I was hoping would replace Frazier, so at this point I just really feel bad for him and I hope he lands somewhere. God bless him. 🙏

Including the playoffs, Boogie had 3.5 sacks opposed to Rousseau’s 4.0. The only difference is Boogie didn’t get one single start nor did he dress for half of the season. I’m not going to mince words here, I like both. I was very high on Boogie in the draft, I had a first round grade on him (for those that care), Rousseau I was not so high on, but I’ve seen enough at this point to admit that I was wrong. Rousseau in my mind is an ideal fit at OLB in the 3-4 and he would probably be a star in such a position. So I see him as kind of a DE/LB hybrid, even in our scheme, at least in our base 4-3 defense which we never run. I do think he has value playing OLB at least in zone coverage or as a blitzer or even as an enforcer in terms of stopping the power run RBs in the league. Boogie in my mind is a pure DE, he can play either side. He holds the point of attack very well, has a nice motor and spin move and can set the edge. I would like to see him work on his swim move more and in my mind he could be an 8-10 sack per year kind of guy. I think the biggest thing about Boogie is he never gives up, he’s like the energizer bunny and fights through ‘till the end, even after he gets beat, his second effort causes him to make plays. Basically he’s an effort guy and has a decent yet limited skill set. I think he will be a starter for us long term given his effort stays the same.

I truly think that it’s coaching to blame here. I do think that the addition of Eric Washington has taken away from the sting though. Oliver has improved under him and given time, I think that Boogie and Rousseau will come along as well (but I’m not so sure about Epenesa). Part of the problem is we’re playing these soft vanilla ice cream defenses where our back seven are sitting a good 5-10yds off of the ball. I understand that concept if we’re in obvious passing situations, but why we’re not blitzing Edmunds and Milano against power run teams is mystifying to me. No wonder these guys never make any TFL. Also, speaking of Rousseau, I disagree strongly with the way he’s being used. He is 6’6 250lbs, he is as strong as an ox and he’s very fast too, but why aren’t we blitzing him from the SLB when we play in our base 4-3? Especially when we’re going up against the Derrick Henry’s of the world. He should be used like the way the Bucs use Shaquille Barrett. I would argue that Rousseau could even drop in coverage given his weight stays the same and he really works at it. I also rebuke the frequency in which we play in zone coverage. I get it, it masques the deficiencies of our secondary, mainly at corner but at some point you have to play in man so we can put an extra safety in the box against run teams. They don’t want to give up the big play, I get it. Death by one cut or a thousand cuts? But ultimately you have to allow your players to make plays or at least mix it up and play some good situational football.

Yes and no. Dawkins has been a fringe elite LT for a few years now and he was a second round pick. Bates has developed into a nice player as well but never saw the field ironically. Letting Wyatt Teller go for a bag of footballs though? Unforgivable. He’s been an elite guard for a few years now in Cleveland. How does that happen?

@Meatloaf63 I think the biggest thing Allen needs to work on is audibles and calling his own plays. Not only just getting our receivers in the right spot, but changing the blocking schemes on the OL as well. If we truly want him to enter up into that upper echelon of QBs like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, he needs to become more like a coach on the field. All the truly great ones can change plays at a moments notice, so that means that #1 McD will not need to burn a timeout if he sees something he doesn’t like and #2 This makes defenses vulnerable because they may not have the personnel on the field to defend the play that Allen decides to audible. #3 Allen can keep drives going via no huddle while forcing defenses to burn their timeout! Secondly, I think Allen needs to continue on working with Jordan Palmer. He looked great this year, but he needs to continue to work on his mechanics until it’s simply muscle memory and ingrained in him at that point. The main thing he needs to work on is his touch. He looked great last year, but he still needs to learn to finesse the ball a little bit more. He has a hell of an arm, but he needs to learn to take some off of the ball, especially on screens, wheel routes and that sort of thing. All the truly GREAT QBs I can think of were truly great touch passers Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Montana, Kelly, Marino, etc. Sometimes it’s unavoidable, I’ve never seen a QB with so much inertia on the ball, but it means nothing if your target has no time to react or has trouble trapping the ball. Improving upon the deep ball is a must! Ultimately I would like to see Allen stick his nose deep into the playbook this offseason. We don’t want a QB on the field, we want a COACH on the field. Allen needs to get used to calling his own plays and being in full command of the offense and being “the guy”. Once Allen has this figured this out and I believe he will, only then will we have the continued success that we desire and at that point, any coaching casualties we suffer in the future thereof will matter not.

Me too. Not only that, but the passing offense as well. This move makes so much sense to me, Dorsey has tons of experience, almost a decade in fact working as a QB coach, so it seems that he is more than ripe in terms of being ready for this promotion, but I’m in the same boat as you as far as how this move changes our offense. We should still be running the same offense that Daboll ran last year, you would think so anyways. I suspect that Dorsey will be calling plays from our same playbook as last year! The only difference is Dorsey is calling the plays, not Daboll and I hope to God that Allen gets to call his own plays too at some point because this is the next step for him if he wants to enter the same echelon as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady! It’s great when you have a QB who can make audibles instead of having to take a timeout! And this is the biggest thing that Allen needs to work on this offseason! I do find it curious to see how much turnover our staff has a result of this! Who will our next QB coach be? How many of our other positional coaches will go with Daboll? I think at this point we need another hot shot/up and comer at QB coach for when Dorsey leaves in a few years! I imagine that he is one of the hottest OCs candidates in the NFL at this point! I’m eyeing to see any other changes that will be made to our staff!

This isn’t a positive post, but it’s a well thought out post and insightful post and I respect you for that. Fans here have a tendency of flaming and belittling anything that isn’t lovey dovey Bills propaganda but I think you’re missing a few things: We don’t know who our new OC will be. This could go either way. If we hire someone who is worth their salt, our whole offense changes in a positive way and defenses have no tape on Allen in our new offense to prepare for, but if we hire pond scum, Allen may terribly regress and may have a down year. This goes beyond whomever we hire as our OC as well, I hate to point that out, but it applies to what ever vacancies we suffer as well. Also, let me see what we do in the draft and free agency. I don’t feel the need to bloviate here, I think those two things are self explanatory and take care of themselves. Anyways, once again, just because folks don’t like your spin on this, it doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It’s happened to me before as well. Mainly when I was clamoring for that crazy inaccurate QB kid from Wyoming.

Elite players matter, especially within key nucleus positions amongst the team. With that said, you can’t pay 53 players elite money, a balance must be struck between key role players/system players and between your elite players.

I don’t know. If I’m a player and I’ve caught a thousand balls or tackled someone a thousand times and I’m being told what to do by someone who never played the game, that’s infuriating.

You judge a tree by its fruit.. Players they’ve worked with and developed.. Where their units ranked in the league statistically.. Coaches they’ve worked with.. Experience etc..

I’m white, but 70% of all NFL players are black. So if I’m an owner, or a GM, or a coach and I wanted to hire somebody with not only coaching experience, but playing experience also, it would make sense to at least interview some people who are black. As far as women coaching? Get out of here. I don’t mean to be chauvinistic about it, but we all know the truth for what it is.

This is so freaking cool that we’re looking at minority candidates. I think I like Bennett more than Martin, but wow, these interviews are so way out of left field, but in a really good way. I’m happy with either, honestly.

The only thing that would scare me is if he brought the RPO with him. I wouldn’t mind seeing us do it 5-6x a game, but not too much ‘cause I don’t want to see Allen get hurt. It DOES look like he had two great seasons with Darnold at USC as well. 57:22 TD/INT ratio. So that’s a plus. Darnold was drafted high. Also, he worked with Harbaugh in Baltimore and he worked with Vrabel in Tennessee, so he has exposure to some great coaches. This guy isn’t just some “Rooney rule” candidate. He’s a legit coach in his own right, not just because of the color of his skin. He’s legitimately a good coach. Anyways, God bless him, we’re off to a good start. I’m encouraged by this.

From what I see on wiki, he was the OC/WR coach for 3 years at USC. He’s worked with some great coaches, the Bills could do a lot worse. I can’t say for sure whether I would hire him or not until I see the other candidates.
