  1. They are...but the guidelines are different. Plus...unless a recruit has a desire to serve his country in the armed forces, they would seek to go elsewhere to play football...and then hope to jump to the NFL. Likely the competition for players would be more limited to those among the service academies.
  2. Wouldn't surprise me if they take 2 or more of each position. The draft isn't as solid at EDGE, but has some depth at DT.
  3. Well...since it'a a military academy, recruitment is different, operating under military constraints. Candidates, including athletes, need to be nominated. There are no athletic scholarships. So...I could see the Naval Academy being an attraction for Belichick in light of his father's legacy.
  4. I could actually see Belichick going to coach Navy.
  5. I think they are just as sick of KC winning as the rest of us!
  6. I think there is truth to this...but there is also something to be said for loyalty. Both Slowik and Johnson are experiencing their first OC positions. Their HCs...Ryan and Campbell have put together winning cultures that haven't been part of those organizations for a long time. Something is being built that is special and there is a lot to be said for being a big part of that. Why jump that ship for an opportunity that may not be as rich or rewarding? If they are both as good as they promise, there will be more opportunities when they are ready, more prepared and stand a better chance at success.
  7. I saw somewhere that the crew that refereed the AFC championship game tended to favor the home team and called a lot of personal fouls. Considering the Chiefs players were egging the Ravens players into penalties, it would not surprise me if knowing these tendencies, this was part of the Chiefs game plan.
  8. And this is an important point. Nobody has stopped Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs...with the exception of one year where the Bengals beat them. This is not just a Bills issue. It's an AFC issue. Considering what the Bills were able to do with practice squad players playing defense, I think the key is on offense. We know Josh poses a huge challenge...but he can't do it alone. We need to load up on offense. I believe our defense will get better just by getting healthy players back, resigning a couple of pieces, and drafting to get younger. Draft some solid WRs and those that are on the roster, need to catch the ball.
  9. As do the Bills. There's attrition every year on every team. The teams with lots of cap space aren't paying big money to QBs.
  10. The Bills have 58 players under contract (which includes the futures contracts just completed). I suspect they will have to let Jones and possibly Sneed go as they both will command top money. There are other key pieces to their top defense that are UFAs after this season.
  11. You do realize that the Chiefs with that cap room have only 43 players under contract for 2024...and that does not include Chris Jones who is the heart of that defense. Nor does it include Sneed at CB. Granted...the Bills cap situation is worse, but I trust with the success of their recent drafts, they will get younger.
  12. I think SF gives them a better game. Goff is immobile. Campbell gives away points. Detroit pass defense is porous. Oh yeah...and then there's all the drops by Detroit WRs.
  13. Actually McD got less conservative at the end of the year. Team just didn't execute. Campbell takes it to an extreme.
  14. According to the NFL website, Eberflus is going to continue calling the plays for Chicago.
  15. Thank you for posting this.! Very informative. For the record...I'm with Beane when it comes to dipping wings. I want to enjoy the wing and sauce...no dipping. I'm a wing purist in that regard.
  16. Okay...I'm a Penn State alum and fan but I know there are a number of Michigan fans in this forum. So with Harbaugh's departure for the NFL, what are your thoughts regarding Michigan's next head coach?
  17. It's interesting that the only interest shown in Belichick has been Atlanta...yet they are still looking at other options. Is Belichick demanding complete control like he had in NE? If so, no thank you...especially if your team needs WR help.
  18. There's a line in a Carly Simon song: "Sorry that your mother dropped you on your head..."
  19. If Hyde had the desire, I'd love to see him added to the coaching staff. Clearly they love the team and the area.
