  1. If Hyde had the desire, I'd love to see him added to the coaching staff. Clearly they love the team and the area.
  2. That's not what I heard. McD was acknowledging the effort of the entire staff...coaches, players etc. He pointed out it was NOT the outcome they wanted but it was a good season from the standpoint of winning the AFCE and getting to the divisional round. He was not congratulating himself. I swear people hear what they want to hear to fill their personal narratives.
  3. Need for KC to have more legit competition in their division. Harbaugh will put a very physical defense in place as well. Need to beat some of the cockiness out of Mahomes.
  4. I think, too, in light of the cap situation and knowing the team needs to get younger, especially defensively, I would expect Beane to focus on the draft heavily to fill out the roster. They've got to be encouraged as well with the success of some of these younger players this year.
  5. They're talking about this last season, so I wouldn't read into anything.
  6. It's a deep wide receiver class and the Bills have 10 picks. They've made some really good late round picks, especially in the 5th round. Don't we have 3 of those this year?
  7. Especially since Beane and McD are measured. There are no knee-jerk reactions. Unlike fans.
  8. At the beginning of the season I thought with the depth that Beane created this team could do it especially defensively. Then the injuries started happening and that depth was strained. Offensively we were inconsistent under Dorsey. When McD replaced Dorsey with Brady...we started moving in the right direction...but the injuries kept coming. And suddenly our special teams became problematic. Winning out to win the AFCE and take the 2 seed gave me hope. That hope was dashed with the wildcard win over the Steelers with all the injuries in that game. So I was not optimistic playing a healthy KC team.
  9. Yes...and what it showed is that the Bills need more playmakers...aka wide receivers on offense to compete. We were in the game even with that banged up D. Josh had nowhere to go with the ball more times than not.
  10. I am 70 years old and one thing I learned rather early on was to become a fan of the sport. Having a favorite team is great...and I will always root for and love the Bills. However, favorite teams will often disappoint you. There is parity, there are injuries, and there is just plain bad luck. So I have become a fan of football...both the Pros and college, in which I also have 4 teams I follow being an alum of 3 and having served in the AF. By enjoying the sport, it tempers that disappointment which is all too frequent and allows you to enjoy good game play. Following college football gives you a degree of knowledge heading into the draft. You also become less knee jerk reactionary when seasons end and can go year to year with a healthier perspective.
  11. I actually read your post as being $9 M for year one only with year two being when base and bonus begin to hit.
  12. Excellent post. As hard as it was to watch the Bills lose last night, that game left me with a lot of hope moving forward for just the reasons that you note in your post.
  13. Pulling for the Ravens. They've been a solid team all year in a very physical division. KC had an easy road in the playoffs...playing a defensively depleted, non-physical finesse team in the Dolphins. Bills, even though they got the win, were beat up in a very physical wildcard game with the Steelers, allowing KC to again face a depleted defense. So...I am hoping the Ravens physically beat up the Chiefs. I will be rooting for Detroit in the NFC. Detroit is such a positive story. If Detroit makes it past SF...I will root for them in the SB. If SF prevails, I will root for a good, competitive game.
  14. Did anybody watch Get Up this morning? It was very clear that the majority (Dan Orlovsky, Mike Greenberg, and Rex Ryan) were pulling for the Bills and especially Josh Allen. Ryan Clark was the only one who was critical of Josh. Anyway, Orlovsky called attention to all the great young QBs in the AFC, with Mahomes, Allen, Lamar and now Stroud highlighted. While looking at Greenberg he said words to the effect "not every team has one." Greenberg just told him to shut up.
  15. This makes sense. If anything, last night's game showed that the Bills can go toe-to-toe with the Chiefs with a backup defense...if we can get more skill players in the receiver position. Josh fell short in this game because he had no one to throw to other than Kinkaid and Shakir. Diggs made a few plays but was largely unreliable. I would target WR, DT, and S early in the draft. It would be nice if Shorter can develop at WR. I definitely would re-sign Ty Johnson as the number two RB. On defense, I would also like to keep DaQuon and I agree on Morse as I believe he is a steadying force on the oline.
  16. We are all emotional and hurting because we finally got KC here. Objectively the Bills injuries just caught up with them. Just as we got healthy enough at the end of the season to win the division...the wildcard game cost us going into the divisional round. Playing against a team like KC...who came into the game healthy...you can't expect to hold them out of the end zone. The practice squad call ups at LB and WR which were necessary...caused us to have to use a gimpy punter which didn't help field position. The last few plays offensively after the two minute warning were bad. However we had a FG in our back pocket. Bass misses it. I'll criticize McD for that fake punt, but as it turned out, it didn't hurt the Bills. So...go Ravens! As to the Bills, coaching-wise we need a better special teams coordinator. Roster wise we need better WRs among getting younger at safety.
  17. Dang she just set female sports reporters back 30 years!
  18. Einstein...that was an incredible gesture! God bless you for this!
  19. With all the talent on that Philly defense....and the Bills are playing with backups held together with duct tape.
  20. Great clip! It clearly shows Josh shaking his head like runners do when they're trying to juke a defender. Who does that if you're sliding?
