Predict what positional groups are better/worse in 2024?
MJS replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why are you curious about the corners? They are basically the same as last year. So, they are at least the same, possibly better do to further growth and development by Benford and Elam. The receivers are probably worse. Diggs and Davis were so bad down the stretch, though. And Harty and Sherfield were useless. I like the makeup of this year's receivers more, although we do lack the superstar. But, Diggs didn't really play like a superstar the 2nd half of the season anyway... -
Bettors currently (Aug 11, 2024) rank Bills 7th overall (4th in the AFC)
MJS replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, but they want to take advantage of public sentiment if they think it might be off. Ultimately, it does come down to who they think will win or lose. And they are wrong a lot, it's just that everyone is wrong a lot, so they just have to be right a little more than the general public and assign their odds accordingly. -
Did anyone watch the Patriots game a couple of days ago? The game was crap, but the Patriots broadcasters have to be the worst in the entire league. They were terrible. They didn't even attempt to call the game. They basically just chatted among themselves the entire time, occasionally referencing something in the game. It was hot garbage.

All the teams are keeping their actual strategy on this play close to the vest. You'll have to wait until the regular season to really see how it will go. Even so, most that I have seen have been stopped before the 30, usually around the 22 to 25 yard line, which means you are saving at least 5 yards, which is worth it. I think in the XFL they have it taken to the 35 if kicked into the end zone. I like that better. Make it hurt more if you don't kick it in the field of play.

I like Spiro Dedes, personally. I think he is underrated. He is usually paired up with someone terrible, though. Completely agree on Greg Olsen. He is one of the best, in my opinion. I don't love his voice, but he really does his homework and gives great insight. Collinsworth is a triple strike for me. I HATE his voice. I HATE his takes. I HATE his double standards and backhanded compliments. But, he is undoubtedly knowledgeable and he catches interesting things to point out in games. So, I like him 25% of the time and loathe him the other 75% of the time. And Mike Tirico, despite having a good voice, annoys me too. He is just a yes man for Collinsworth. We'll see on Brady. All I can imagine right now is just wanting to punch his pretty face. The pair I used to dislike but have actually grown to enjoy, if that's the right word, is Buck and Aikman. They are just so average and not noteworthy that they actually aren't a distraction, which is pretty nice when you think about it. If you aren't going to be great, at least don't be a distraction. Their blandness goes in their favor.

Just quit the season. That performance was pathetic

Ed Oliver got hurt the first play. He'll probably be fine, though. -

But not holding. The DB had his arm around him the entire time. -

That was a cheap shot by Williamson. I don't know what he was thinking. -

I hate the jersey number zero for players. It looks so bad. Oh well. -

It's the preseason. Most teams go pretty vanilla. -
I'm not sure "admired" is the best word. But some of my favorite players to watch over the years are: Non-Bills Players: - Peyton Manning - Drew Brees - Luke Kuechly Bills Players: - Steve Tasker - Bruce Smith - Josh Allen - Kyle Williams - Eric Moulds

They just look like they are sitting minding their own business to me. I'm not sure what you are seeing.

I saw enough in his first season to be convinced. His win against the Vikings was great. Then that masterful week 17 win against the Dolphins where he threw for 3 TD's and ran for 2. The Vikings game showed me he had the "it" factor and the big play ability. The Dolphins game showed me he had the skill and arm talent to become a great passer, not to mention his running ability. But there were great moments in other games that year too. Some of his best career highlights are from his rookie year. I mean, yeah, in 2020 the NFL learned what he could do, but there was so much evidence before then.

He is a replacement level receiver. The Steelers know how to get the most out of their receivers, somehow.

Per McD, JA and first teamers will play about a quarter vs Bears
MJS replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I always take the approach that football is football. You can't play scared. You can't worry about injury. The players have a job to do. It certainly is a risk, but it is always a risk. I do think players need to have some full contact to get ready for the season. -

The 90's were the golden era of NFL football. High flying offenses. Legendary players. It was just becoming the behemoth it still is today. Defenses could still play defense, at least compared to today. Rivalries still meant something. Coaches and players still had attitude. BTW, I think it is ths same for the NBA. That was the best decade for sports. -

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. He sounds terrible, so why did he get hired? -

I bet Allen won't play anything close to a full quarter. -

But the real question is what color of nail polish he will be wearing 🤔 -
Dorsey's offense was designed to have an answer for everything the defense did. So, lots of option routes for receivers. Lots of diagnosing and checks at the line. It was a cerebral offense. But that put a lot of responsibility on the receivers to do the right thing and for the QB to be always on the same page with them. And that just isn't the kind of QB Josh Allen is. I think the offense had him and his receivers thinking too much. Plus, Allen has always been a guy who likes to see his target open before he fires, rather than throwing it to a spot or leading his receiver. So, ultimately that is on Dorsey for not designing an offense that worked with his super star QB or the pieces he had, but that doesn't mean it was a bad scheme. There are plenty of QB's who would do well in a system like that. And I don't think Dorsey called low percentage or predictable plays. I think Allen took the low percentage options perhaps too much, maybe because his reads took him there, or maybe because he trusted Diggs and Davis too much to bring in the long bombs.
