Tough comparison. The linebackers of that time where much bigger/slower and required a lot less to cover receivers. There is no way a team would have drafted Dorian Williams in the 3r rd back then as we did this year, too small. From that perspective, strictly as a passer, the linebackers were easier for a QB to pick apart (sans the incredibly generous rules now in place for receivers).

I dont disagree with you at all, but begrudgingly, Belichek has made some great gm moves in the Patriot way by trading very popular players as they wee nearing their peak so he could get top value for them and the list is long. Belichek did a great job resurrecting (IMO) randy moss and in the Patriot way when Moss was washed up traded him away.

I agree 100%. SBXXVIII was lost on 1 play, the Thurman Thomas fumble. After that myself as a fan said the game was lost even though we had the lead and were to get the ball back.
